Okay guys, this is my first draft of my review but I am throwing it up here because I'm going to be gone all day at the company outing and I thought you guys would like to see this. It isn't done yet though! I have to clean up some language and probably add a couple of details I may have forgotten. Enjoy!
Hotel California - Stevie comes out wearing the pants! They are flared black pants with a row of rhinestones down the outside of each leg. The material is probably silk, they are matte with a bit of a sheen almost like chinz (but not quite as shiny). They are long and so a little scrunchy at the bottom and she wore the boots! Over the pants she wore a top with layers of handkerchief hemilined fabric. It almost looked like a minidress. It had her trademark bustier top. I love love love hearing her voice on this classic song. It's like it was always meant to be a part of it.
New York Minute - "You can get out of the rain." I particularly like the way she delivers this line. It's so wonderful to hear Stevie on some different songs!
Last Worthless Evening - Enjoyed them on this but not my favorite. Again, Stevie is singing something different!
For the rest of Don's set I enjoyed Dirty Laundry, Boys of Summer, and Life in the Fast Lane. The rest, nighty night I'm taking a nap. He actually changed clothes a few times over the course of the evening. I think the same jeans but he had at least 3 different jackets and shirts on that I noticed. He looked particularly classy when he came out later for Stevie's set which was a nice homage.
Outside the Rain - We got our Vegas graphics! A little too much too late :-) But the rain graphics were more sophisticated and I really enjoyed them as a backdrop. I have a little video clip of this.
Dreams - The backdrop was really pretty with multicolored strands of light dancind around each other, again I have a clip.
Rhiannon - The images of drawings of women behind Stevie were really neat. I found myself actually watching the screens sometimes more than Stevie! It's so cute to see the fans that aren't as familiar with her live shows to go nuts as soon as the album version's piano chords begin! They go crazy!!! The dreaded unicorns were gone! Instead there was a mystical horse image. Ahh, much better, again a clip. And the lights! Her lighting guy rocks.
Gold Dust woman - I'm not too crazy about Don singing on this but I still enjoyed the song. Got a clip :-) The images for this song from Vegas were gone unfortunately because I liked the effect of the drawings of women with the gold liquid-like light sliding through them. This time we got swirls. Yes, a bit psychadelic. Again, the lighting was amazing. The backdrop consisted of three video panels and outside and between each were the lights which were different colors and would come on with varying degrees of brightness in time with the music. Clip. When the music got intense, so did the music. Awesome. Her new ending is powerful too, "Baby baby baby baby baby do you see me now? Baby baby baby baby baby you should see me now." Yep another clip. :-)
Stop draggin - The backdrop was a spinning image of earth with red clouds floating past behind it. Don does not do Tom's parts justice and I would love for Tom and Stevie to do this type of tour together, wouldn't everyone? Tom and Stevie, are you listening, please?
Circle Dance - Bonnie Raitt is also a favorite singer of mine, I love her and it was really cool to hear this song. I've never heard it before, it is very sweet. A surprised fan behind me, who loves Bonnie Raitt was ecstatic and yelled something like, "Oh no way, I LOVE this song, Stevie you rock!!!"
Stand Back - Gah! A new image of Stevie spinning! It is dreamy and you can't see her face, just her silhouette. With her spinning in front, and big Stevie on the screen, the effect was really energizing. Clip. She also kept the light effects she had for this song in Vegas, the pattern of white lights lighting up in squared patterns to the beat of the music. I got a clip but unfortunately this is where my memory card ran out. I managed to go back and delete some bad clips though to make a little room for other songs.
BATB - The Cocteau movie in the back was amazing with Stevie emoting in the foreground. This was the same performance as Vegas. I managed to get two tiny clips until my card ran out again for good. I wish I could have remembered some previous stuff I'd recorded but I was afraid to delete any of that to make room! :-( But now I have a better idea of how much my memory card can handle.
Edge - She wore a different jacket I haven't seen. It was like a sheer duster-type of sweater jacket, very light, and it was ankle length. It had fringe at the bottom. It didn't have flared sleeves.
Leather and Lace - I really enjoyed this one. No images in back that I recall. It was really weird for this to be the end of the show. Normally Stevie has two encore songs, they dropped So You Wanna be a Rock and Roll Star. I had forgotten which song it was but I knew something was missing. After L&L ended and the lights came up there was a big collective "Aww" of disappointment throughout the audience. No one wanted this show to end.
My Dad really loved the show. I could tell because he had permagrin when we were leaving, just a small smile, but there nevertheless. :-) Stevie casts her spell again. I said to him, "People really love her, don't they?" He said, "Well there's no one like her, no one sings like her, that deep brassy voice and her spinning and clothing. She's the only one." That's right, Dad. :)
Merchandise. There is a cool red baby doll style shirt. It has a v-neck, though it isn't low cut, and it has the wildheart style logo on the front with "Tour 2005". I thought it was pretty cute. There was also a T designed by Stevie! It was a drawing of her from behind with her arms out to her sides, the bat-winged sleeves, handkerchief hemilne, and boots. It almost looks like she's a fairy, it is really cute. And it looks like her signature is on the bottom right with her little wildheart she draws with it. However, it was on this sleevless pink t-shirt with a hood which I know I would never wear. :-( Why didn't they put THAT on a baby doll T?
