Make your own new Stevie solo album

We can dream, right?

Mine would have-

The Dealer
Belle Fleur
China Doll
Julia
Without You (re-recorded with Lindsey)
My Heart (totally revamped)
Space Needle
Don't Treat Me Like a Stranger (re-written and recorded sans Kenny G)
Annabel Lee
I Burn for You or Ghost Story or Mad About You (she can pick one for a cover/duet with Sting)

GypsySorcerer 05-30-2005 09:47 PM

Space Needle
China Doll
The Dealer
Christian
Chanel, Chanel
Julia
Baby Doll (I think I'm the only who likes this one)
My Heart (with different music)

ontheEdgeof17 05-30-2005 09:53 PM

I just want Space Needle and 11 new songs, please. :wavey:

dissention 05-30-2005 09:58 PM

If I were in charge and she had no new material to work with...

Space Needle (minus the "tar people" line)
Julia (sung with zeal and passion, or forget it)
Pavlov's Bell (Aimee Mann cover)
If You Were My Love (in the vein of the Fleetwood Mac version)
Lady From the Mountain
Something Exquisite (tweak the lyrics and get rid of the 80s cheese)
When Sunny Gets Blue (Etta James cover)
Joan of Arc (only if she can keep it as sinister as the original)
Inspiration (new vocal and just an acoustic guitar)
All the Beautiful Worlds
What You Wish For (Guster cover)

I'm very specific. And keep the background singers **** to a minimum this time around please (*ducks from the shoe Marissa will throw at me*).

krrrby 05-30-2005 10:16 PM

I like this idea...

OK mine would be this:

Album Title: Gold and Braid

1. Baby Doll
2. All the Beautiful Worlds
3. Joan of Arc (LOVE this song, and I think she could still rock it out)
4. Love and War (Mixdown)
5. Gold and Braid (like a new version, finally put on an album)
6. Lady from the Mountain
7. If You Were My Love (prefer it to sound like the mirage outtake version)
8. Love Don't Fail Me Now
9. Chanel, Chanel
10. Blue Water
11. Space Needle (shortened, its too long)
12. Julia
13. Ooh Baby (but definitely redone)

krrrby 05-30-2005 10:18 PM

LiquidBlue5000 05-30-2005 10:30 PM

1. My Heart
2. Space Needle
3. Have No Heart
4. City Of Hope
5. China Doll
6. Mistaken Love

.. and 7 new songs please

CreepingDeath 05-30-2005 10:49 PM

I'm terrible at sequencing, so in no particular order-

Space Needle
My Heart
The Dealer
Julia
Lady From The Mountain
If You Were My Love
All The Beautiful Worlds
Something Exquisite
Chanel, Chanel
Joan of Arc
Have No Heart
China Doll

Hee. I thought I was the only person who knew of them. Maybe I'll stop cheating on you since it appears that our relationship is salvageable after all.

I saw Guster my sophomore year of high school

For our relationship to be salvageable, you need to stop cheating on me with Richard from the Oakridge Boys, k?

Ah, but his dalmation chic outerwear gets me so hot and bothered. :P

What You Wish For is my favorite Guster song and every time I hear it, I always think that Stevie could do a kick-ass cover of it; singing like she did in Sorcerer by utilizing some of her upper register on the "And what you wish for won't come true" lines. Then Lori could come in with the "Just repeat after me" part and it would be an instant classic.

Can you tell a rainbow...eh! stop being a rainbow! Such is Richard :p

Hmmm....you know, for once I might agree with you. Plus, Lori backing vocals? That would be a good time.

Guster is awesome. I love Amsterdam <3 They used to play them a lot and they'd come here for concerts all the time before they took away our alternative station Y100 and replaced it with something Philadelphia needs more of...another rap station -_-

catinthedark 05-30-2005 11:57 PM

Ah, I've made so many versions of my "perfect" Stevie album... Here's what I would do right now:

No particular order - that's what sequencers are paid to do.

Space Needle (not too long, not too short - and I love the tar people line :p )
Sanctuary
Chanel, Chanel
Mistaken Love (utter perfection in a song)
Cecilia (Anyone else love this song? Love the vibe of this one)
Joan of Arc (lose a few of the up against the walls)
My Heart (minus the cheesy 80s groove)
Without You (excellent idea I stole from someone above)
Something Exquisite
Straight Back
Planets of the Universe (the original demo, please)

How appropriate then that it is also in a movie starring Hayden Christensen.

Come (accompanied by Helmut And The Displaced Schuhplattlers)
Wrong (with the BBC Symphony Orchestra)
Johnny Stew (with the Duke of Kent on trombone)
Save Me A Place (accompanied by a pantomime horse)
Holiday Road (with Roger Waters on gong)
Loving Cup (with Stevie on lead guitar)
and maybe a Rattlesnake Shake duet with Nigel Incubator Jones

Ok, my list

Gold and Braid
Beauty and the Beast (live, without the crowd noise)
Storms (a new 2005 version using her lower, deeper voice and slightly sped up)
Space Needle
White Flag (a Dido song that I think would be killer with Stevie)
Whole Lotta Love (I'm not joking..gawd, she would rock it, but maybe minus the orgasmic groans and with Lindsey on guitar)
Joan of Arc
After The Glitter Fades
Beautiful Child (once I saw this live the first time, it made me fall in love with it all over again. I'd like Lindsey on harmony backup vocals, instead of the backup singers - just a duet)
*Something, anything new with Tom Petty*
Sometimes It's A Bitch ( )
At Last
Blue Lamp
Free Fallin'
Crystal (just her)
Has Anyone Ever Written Anything For You (from Storytellers)
I Will Run To You
Just Like A Woman
Sisters of the Moon (again, a 2005 version and lots of speaking in tongues)
Kick It
That Made Me Stronger
Sleeping Angel

If you're gonna dream, dream big. I don't ask for much

Kelly 05-31-2005 06:08 AM

This is fun!

Without You (with Lindsey)
Christian
My Heart
Julia
All the Beautiful Worlds
Chanel Chanel
Lady from the Mountain (who found her?) : )>
Night Gallery
She Loves Him Still
China Doll
Secret Love

trackaghost 05-31-2005 07:01 AM

Julia
The Dealer
Sanctuary
If You Were My Love (rockin' like the Mac version, none of that "tropical-vibe" ****)
Space Needle
Belle Feur
Baby Doll
Lady From The Mountain
My Heart
All The Beautiful Worlds
Joan Of Arc
China Doll or Blue Water

No cover versions and no songs written by Sandy Stewart, Rick Nowells or whoever. All Stevie-composed songs please.

xxxmx 05-31-2005 07:36 AM

oh this is fabulous. ps - hillary, i love Ghost Story (and referring to an old post, Ray Bradbury and Everyday).

If You Were My Love - nice and soft a la the piano demo, in the same vein as Love Is

Old Fashioned / The Dance - this song doesn't get enough credit for being FANTASTIC

The Dealer - the a capella demo + music

Space Needle - truncated, album packaging could include a razor

Have No Heart - love that gothic vibe

Mistaken Love - nice and simple, leave off 99% of those crappy backing vocals

Inspiration - one of my favorite songs

Crying in the Night - could be awesome with her 'new' voice

Forest of the Black Roses - surprised i haven't seen it mentioned yet?

My Heart - i even love the music

songs that i would love to hear her perform, only a few that anyone else would want to hear...
Alanis - That I Would Be Good, Annie Lennox - Why, David Bowie - The Heart's Filthy Lesson, Elton John - Your Song (Moulin Rouge sty-lee), Hole - Doll Parts, Jimi Hendrix - Angel, Paula Abdul - Forever Your Girl, Simon & Garfunkel - Sounds of Silence (duet with LB), The Band - It Makes No Difference

Dreammms 05-31-2005 08:20 AM

lady from the mountain
ceceila
baby doll
secret love
watchdevil
24 karot

I don't dislike it either. Every once in a while I am in a "Sometimes its a Bitch" mood. It is certainly not her worst effort. eg Not Make Believe :distress: or docklands

I would rather have new songs too as long as she doesn't write anymore lines like "It hurts my self esteem it hurts my everything" I don't think BOB DYLAN would write a line like that. or "I only say what you want to here when there is conflict I stay clear" :distress: . I would just add Cecilia.

Miss Vicky 05-31-2005 12:50 PM

How about:

Another version of "Planets of the Universe" that doesn't have all those damned synthesizers and sounds more like the demo version. I'm sorry but, in my book, only Lindsey can get away with writing really depressing lyrics and then setting them to overly synthesized beats (see studio version of "Go Insane").

The rest? I don't care as long as it doesn't sound like TISL. And keep Sheryl Crow the hell out of the project. I like what she does with her own work, but she needs to leave Stevie's alone.

Okay, I'll get down from my soapbox now.

Yeah, let's have John Shanks back to make her sound like even more of an AC grandma than he did the first time around the block. At least Sheryl put some life into her songs.

diamondsnake 05-31-2005 12:59 PM

My Heart
Chanel, Chanel
Christian
Annabel Lee
At Last
Space Needle (make it a tad shorter)
Mirror Mirror (I don't consider a foreign b-side as really being released, so I think she should rerecord the song and put it on a new album)
New Song
New Song
New Song
New Song
New song
New song....

diamondsnake 05-31-2005 01:02 PM

I want her new album to be really rock and roll. Songs like Fall From Grace, TISL, Running through the Garden, and Everybody Finds Out are what her current voice is made for. She sounds best on these fast paced rocking songs and I would love an album basically full of these types of songs.

Umm... no. How about I prefer what unibrow did. Bella Donna was great. The rest of the albums fell progressively short of that. On the other hand, her music sounds best in the hands of a certain gifted guitarist...

No, wait. Scratch the idea of a new Stevie solo album. How about Buckingham Nicks II instead?

What songs did John produce?

Whoever produced TISL, Fall From Grace, Candlebright, Bombay Saphires... those are the songs I love. Even though I love the whole album.

No!!! Stevie solo all the way. I am a little tired of her sharing the spotlight with Lindsey and I think the Lindsey fans feel the same way about Stevie. I wouldn't mind Lindsey making a guest appearance on "Without You" though!

Unibrow was a master in regards to Bella Donna and The Wild Heart. Everything afterwards collectively sucked, give or take a handful of great songs. I'm convinced she's somewhat deaf.
