Rhiannon from the SYW tour
I loved this version- it pretty much rocked. Especially the "Well, I don't think you do!!!!" part and the dramatic ending when she threw her hair into her face, etc.
I've noticed that people pretty much take this song for granted and just plain don't want it in the set anymore saying that she can't do it justice these days. Would anyone else be heartbroken if she got rid of this song? I just love it! :xoxo: Weeeeelllllll, I don't think you doooooooo!!!!!!!!! |
I agree one hundred percent. Rhiannon is one of the highlights of LIB. In fact, it came on the radio just today, and I thought to myself "Wow, this song really rocks live." The first image that came into my head was her wild hair in LIB.

I thought LIB "Rhiannon" was superior to the Dance version. However, the old renditions are still my favorite. :wavey:

Agreed. And am I the only one that dislikes the "Wellll...I don't think you do." I think it's a lil lame. |

SYW's Rhiannon was one song where Stevie pulled out all the stops to rock it. There was no holding back and I thought it was passionate and almost wild. Definitely better than the Dance. They can't ever drop Rhiannon. It's a staple and fans love it!

Those of you who listen to the 1991 tour & the 1994 tour, check it out. |

I don't really dig it either. And I sorta wish she'd do the "nothing ever changes" chant like on the E. Rutherford '87 version, but maybe that's just me. I also wish I had come up with your belly-dancing smilies, because those are f***ing funny. :wavey: |

Does anyone know if the "changes" thing was a regular occurence on that tour, or did she just do it that one time? I know "Rhiannon" was dropped pretty early on... |

I downloaded that version just out of curiosity, because I knew the song was dropped, and was amazed--her intensity in that one is just killer. She has this low, focused tone thing going on, and you're completely right about the "nothing ever changes" rhythm--it's not exactly the same twice, and it's because of how she's controlling it, not because she's bored or tired, like she sometimes seemed to be on other stuff. I'm not sure if she ever did that again; she definitely hasn't on the other "Rhiannons" I know from that tour. Don't know if that helps or not. :sorry: |

If you play Rhiannon, they dance to the beat. ;) |

:sorry: Not really. |

Honestly, I haven't enjoyed "Rhiannon" live since the "Tusk" tour. Every other version has been boring by comparison. Cutting out the jam really killed the song for me. Actually, my favorite version is when Christine had a bluesy solo right after Lindsey's killer guitar solo, a la Midnight Special 1975. But they cut that out pretty early on.

hee-hee! For a minute, I thought BTFLCHLD had pics of Stevie playing the bongos! I was like - cool! I had to stop and really look at it for a minute - ha! |
I love her doing Rhiannon and hope she always does. Some years I like it better than others, but I enjoy hearing how it changes. I love it on the Mirage concert video ("...you don't change, and baby I don't change, and it's all the same, Rhiannon..."). I love some of the really wild 70's versions of it (that Japan concert one - wowzers!). I loved it at the White Winged Dove tour. Is that the first time she started it slow? That was just amazing back when it first came out, and I still love it starting slow like that.
It's just neat to hear the changes in it. And hey, it gives us more versions to acquire to keep our favorites on our Nicks Mix tapes and cds that we make. ;) |
I will always want to see Rhiannon- Dreams is the one I could say goodbye to. While I don't think Stevie gets as into Rhiannon as she used to, it still is a very powerful song for me.
