Looks like they're currently rehearsing in LA.

MacMan 05-23-2005 05:31 PM

Yeah... and it looks like they will continue rehearsals in Philedalphia beginning on the 31st to the 2nd... then the show on the 3rd. So she'll probably be there on the 30th... so Philly people.. keep your antennas up!

Ahhh and it's a glorious thing...living just outside the city  I'll let you guys know if I hear anything. Ten bucks says she has dinner at The Palm on South Broad Street.

Ahh, yes. Me, too. :D I'm already trying to plan a daily mission into the city for those days to see what I can get...;) More importantly, though, would it be right to think she'll be rehearsing at the Wachovia Center, too?? I highly doubt that given other events that might be going on there, but I don't know why she'd (1) leave L.A. early to rehearse for 3 days in Philly, but (2) come out here early and not rehearse in at least the type of venue in which she'll be spending most of her summer...

Brad

Kelly 05-23-2005 06:41 PM

She will probably rehearse someplace else. I am up for dinner at the Palm's...plus a drink at the bar.

If I didn't have to work, i'd be up for dinner and drinks in the city but alas... no dice :distress:

There aren't any events scheduled for a few days before her show. It is possible that she would be able to rehearse there before the 3rd. The last event scheduled at Wachovia is on May 29th. I tend to think she wouldn't do much more rehearsal but would do a soundcheck the day of. She'll probably come out early to get herself acclamated to the time change. Plus, she loves Philadelphia and i'm sure she'll need a new piece of jewelry ;)

I'm finished work at 4 the day of the concert so I could potentially bring a change of clothes to work and meet you at your house? OR, Thursday i'm finished at 6 and we can motor from there. Oh hell, just call me

We should go out for a little while Thursday night...to hang. We are supposed to meet Kim for dinner before the show Friday, I am thinking sixish.

It is nothing unusual for Stevie to arrive in the kick off city three days early. They were in Columbus for SYW for a couple of days and she did the same with TISL. I think she does it to adjust to the travelling myself.

I'm down for Thursday night. I didn't know we were meeting Kim before the show on Friday but i'm excited  Where are we going??

You're exactly right. Coming from the West coast and ending up on the other side of the country screwed my body up big time (she says, still coughing). More than likely she'll take it easy before she embarks on this whole tour.

We haven't decided anything definative. We mentioned it briefly as I was talking to her about the tickets. Can we say "standing at the stage in front of Stevie in ten days".....whooooo, I am getting excited. We will talk about dinner via the phone.

with 10 days of rehearsals, Im willing to bet a lot of money that the set list will be different from Vegas by at least 3 songs. I just really hope How Still My Love and BATB stay.

I think you are right. Last time she was in my hometown they had a day or two off before the show and I thought she might be there with the rest of the gang shopping or visiting with Karen's family. If I recall correctly, Cory's tour diary confirmed my thoughts. But did I put on my trench coat and play papo-ratzi? NOPE!! Next time... next time!!

JMO - those 3 songs would be Leather and Lace, Highwayman and Reconsider Me. Other than that, I'm expecting the Vegas set. The rehearsals are probably more for their shared bands to learn the other artist's songs. And at least one musician, Taku, is replacing the Vegas guy.

Agreed. The band is mostly practicing, not Stevie for new material. I would be shocked if the set list would change (minus adding the duets). It is possible though....since she likes to drop songs as the tour continues.

I seriously doubt we will get BaTB this summer. I hope HSML and IAF stay in though. With the shorter set with Don..I am thinking normal staples.

I think it'll be much like the 98' Enchanted tour with a few TISL favorites thrown in for good measure. Definitely not expecting B&TB...not sure after her performance in Vegas that i'd want it either...especially without Lori howling out the backing vocals.

The Enchanted tour was the best set list evah! I wish she'd take more chances like that! As for BATB, due to the overwhelming response it got in Vegas (from the casual fans as well), she'd be a fool not to keep it. It's this year's Beautiful Child!

ontheEdgeof17 05-24-2005 11:10 PM

I hope they do the set well......as in Stevie come out during Don's set for a few songs and Don come out during Stevie's for LandL and The Highwayman (riiiight). I'm sure they will do the duets at the end of both sets, though.

I agree with everything you said. "Beauty & The Beast" doesn't require any extra special instruments, so I think we'll see it out there. I bet they even bring along the candelabra. I hope you are right on all three Henley duets. Those would be terrific. "Reconsider Me" LIVE would be amazing.

 ITA. It was the most vocally taxing part of the set, but if she was able to pull it off 4 nights in one week like that, I have every confidence she can do it 2 or 3 nights each week while on tour. I just can't see her dropping it and going back to HAEWAFY as a closer.

Any special instruments could be done on a synth anyway. Scott Plunkett fooled everyone with that sitar on GDW in Vegas! I kept looking at Waddy to see if HE was playing one! :p

I wouldn't be surprised to hear that Waddy does play the sitar, even though he wasn't in Vegas; he's definitely a powerhouse. Scott Plunkett and Taku are also terrific performers. I'm glad Taku is able to be on board. I was looking at information about "Reconsider Me" on line. There's a lot of commonality between Stevie's version and Warren Zevon's version. It would be quite a tribute to play for Warren Zevon, if Stevie's got enough chutzpah to do it.

Warren's Version
(13. RECONSIDER ME (Single Version) [3:25] (Warren Zevon) (G) With/WARREN ZEVON & JAI WINDING: keyboards * ROY BITTAN: piano * BENMONT TENCH: organ * MIKE CAMPBELL: guitar * WADDY WACHTEL: 12-string acoustic guitar * TONY LEVIN: bass * CRAIG KRAMPF: drums * DON HENLEY: harmony vocals )

Stevie's Version
(per Enchanted Box set)
Harmony vocal: Don Henley; Guitar: Waddy Wachtel; Piano: Benmont Tench; Drums: Matt Chamberlain; Synthizer: Steve Goldstein; Bass: Bob Glaub; (is this next one a printing error:) "Chamberlain:" Patrick Warren. WHAT is a Chamberlain?

I LOVE Reconsider Me and hearing that will make putting upw with Don worthwhile!
I am doubting BaTB because she is supposed to be returning to Vegas...I think it is one of those songs she will use in her set for those shows..to set them apart. Frankly, I don't know if the atmosphere or whatever would be the same if she tried to do it everynight...I doubt it. Plus, without Lori, the song could lag..she REALLY added to the song, IMHO>

skcin 05-25-2005 08:27 AM

I would love to hear Reconsider Me live.

Curious - was the version released on Enchanted actually recorded at that time? Or is it an old track left off another album (with the reference to Jimmy, I assumed he wanted her to put it on RAL? Perhaps WH or BD?) Was it recorded by her & Don in the 80's?

Yeah but if Waddy is the lead guitarist, he can't switch to a sitar during GDW -- it's mostly an electric guitar song. No one's ever played a live sitar for Stevie.

I like Taku, too. He's cool because he actually goes online & mixes with the fans on the Internet. He went on to Usenet a few years ago as "Helen" & talked to us & cleared up some misconceptions & provided some anecdotes. It's so rare to have anyone within the whole FM enclave go online & mix that Taku's practically a lone voice in the wilderness. I don't think Plunkett is anything special: just a standard-fare session player. Bring back Roy Bittan!

That's cool! Every one of those guys has played with Stevie: Jai on the 1986 tour, Roy on a bunch of tours & albums, Benmont likewise, Mike likewise, Waddy likewise, Tony Levin on the '89 album, etc.

Yes that was nice. Her first solo tour was amazing, you have to admit: she played the whole album except for "Highwayman."

You know, I would honestly be fine with the Enchanted setlist. Those were some of her best solo shows, IMO  I could deal with that. BUT, i'm still of the frame of mind that no Lori = :(
