Alergies
Ugh.
Who else here is sick as a dog b/c of alergies? I'm so congested, I can't breathe through my nose, and my eyes are watering, so it looks like I'm crying.  I hate alergies. This is the only thing I loathe about the spring. |
I hate Allergies too  HATE THEM!!!
I am living on Alavert because it's the only thing that seems to work for me at all without completely knocking me on my ass....I take Benedryl at night - but then it's SO hard to wake up the next morning - it really knocks me out better than any actual sleep aid I've ever taken  Tonight my throat is all itchy - it doesn't hurt - it's just all itchy along w/ my eyes...and my nose? I won't even get started about that....lets just say many a tree has been lost to my Kleenex habit... Stupid allergies. |

That sounds like allergies  |
I live in allergy central - I think Austin's one of the top 3 cities for allergy sufferers. The good news is, that once you've had a few seasons of suffering, eventually your body will become immune....I hate the side effects of meds more than the allergies themselves, so I use the antioxidant approach. I take massive amounts of Vitamin C (a regular multivitamin and an additional C supplement) and drink lots of green tea (I prefer mine iced, and Lipton has some yummy flavors). It really works! Also, don't overmedicate. Only take what you need. If you're only stuffy, then just take a decongestant. If you're sneezy, itchy and watery, but not stuffy, then only take the antihistamine. And buy the tissues w/ lotion!
Nurse Livia, signing off! Feel better!! |
Sesly...
This year so far has been misery! Last year wasn't too bad. I take vitamin C every day (sometimes more than once if i'm miserable).
Deanna, I take Benadryl too and it knocks you OUT! I have tried Claritin and Alavert, but they don't seem to work much for me. I can't swallow pills, so I love the Benadryl Melti-tabs. LOL People, take vitamin C...it does help. |

I guess I don't have allergies. Fresh cut grass, dander, dust, etc....none of that bothers. me. I'm never congested or have headaches. :o

i don't know what's down here that's killing me, this is my first allergy attack in florida... it started pretty much since i got back from vegas, i thought that i got bird flu on the plane. everything just knocks me out, 'non-drowsy' my ass...
i suffered until monday night and then caved, came home with the sinus/allergy meds and got into bed. i didn't wake up until late tuesday and i was only up for like, two hours. back to bed. yesterday, i was up around noon for a little while and then late last night i was awake for a few hours. i spent most of today in bed passed out. thankfully, i don't really have anything that i'm missing. and frankly, i'd rather be passed out cold than feeling like my face will blow off because of all the snot build up. isn't that a pleasant thought? |

I get them bad, too. My eyes become all red and itchy - looks like I smoked a lot of pot. Plus, they being to run like a faucet. And sneezing every 2 seconds is no fun, either, let me tell you :distress: Then the wheezing kicks in and it's just an absolute mess  Thankfully, Claritin does the trick

This is truly an interesting subject..one that has hit home for us really badly.Food allergy actually..my eldest being SUDDENLY afflicted with this, to the point of an anaphlictic shock(whatever you call it) attack. We as yet don't know what it is she is eating, so everything questionable is banned and every food label with suspected cause read thoroughly .It's incredible, what utter rubbish (ie E numbers, additives etc) is in our food.Is it any wonder all our kids (and us) are ill! I've had to go right back to cooking the most basic simple food (no jars, ready made meal/foodstuffs..like cakes, pasta sauces, pizzas etc) and start again...it's a nightmare and it's made me very weary of the rubbish wer'e feeding our kids!

I'm allergic to mould, pollen, dust, dogs, etc. Once you get allergic to one of these things and are exposed to it for years, you'll get other allergies too. Uh, don't ask.
|
I had to get allergy shots for six years. Basically allergic to everything - grass, weeds etc. Before I got the shots I couldn't breathe, nose runny and stuffy, eyes swollen and itchy. It was so horrible I can't even describe it. But now, I'll feel it a little bit in the fall and spring, but nothing that a little Allegra D can't handle. Seriously, if any of you think you may have a problem, I would recommend going to see an allergy doctor.
