Ugh. Annoying whistling/humming guy at work has found a website that contains EVERY national anthem in the world apparently...

He's got the BLARING from his computer...what's worse? He's singing along with some of them...

I'm highly annoyed at the moment. Ugh.

Just thought I'd share.

What a truly sad person  Songs are one thing but anthems? Deanna, tell him it's illegal to listen to another countries anthem....

I once knew somebody I called "The Phantom Whistler" because nothing ever came out, he just pursed his lips all the time....

Some people make me nuts. Blurt sent me an email today, "could you let me know if you're not going to submit a report by 5:00 in advance, it's important?" The reports have a due date not a due time. I want to kick him.

BTW, my roommate and I are thinking of going to Europe for New Years, where should we go in your opinion?

sara1998 05-17-2005 12:25 PM

I feel like I'm at the TBS call center..... "a guy... he whistle's all the time? And he's listening to other countrys anthems loudly at work.... yes, that's pretty funny, go ahead and have yourself a good laugh...."

Ever seen those commercials? They crack me up.

Sorry Deanna, I know you're annoyed, but I'm crackin' up!

Seeing as I predict this thread turning into our weekly "what's wrong in my world" rant it's my turn...

We have a visit by our District Manager tomorrow to look at standards and presentation in the store. My boss knows this but he wants to rip out the window displays tonight and put in a promotion that doesn't start until the weekend..

He's going to make a mess of it tonight, as usual, and tomorrow we will get marked down for it being not inputted correctly or half finished... Why does he do it? I just want to know why....

Amsterdam is party town. London is great but expensive. Paris is ..well...Paris and fun. Greece I hear is the best place to party and it's cheap, like Spain but these aren't European countries.

If I had my choice for New Years...I'd go to Greece. Europe gets very cold and I don't think Greece gets as cold.

Well you have to come to the UK for sure.. For a start I love London for all it's high points and problems (back down there next week actually), the architecture and parks are really nice. Plus you have to stop by and visit us UK ledgies!! It would be rude not too....

Secondly we have good scenery around the country, if you are a Nicks fan a visit to Rhiannon territory in Wales is a must.. Be prepared for UK weather early in the year though! (Ask Christy about English winters!)

I would also personally visit Italy, doesn't matter where but I've heard Florence (Firenza) is nice. The south of France (Cannes, Nice, Monaco) is one of my favorite places..

Norway Holland and Belgium are good countries too..

We actually compare this place to a sitcom a lot of the time - we have some weird characters working here

Amsterdam... Chill out city...

London can be expensive but it's my favorite Euro city. ( You guys get a crap exchange rate too which doesn't help)

Greece will be warm and cheap but it's kinda boring, scenery wise..

Paris of course is the capital of France and apart from the South of France I've always been the victim of rudeness (They hate the English and vice versa I think), But, France from a scenery point of view is stunning, just don't expect to be treated with respect (they still have an anti-American feeling from Iraq too)

London...in winter...cold and rainy. I loved it for the most part, unless it got really crazy, but it never really did. Umbrellas are annoying though. LOL I am so frickin' ready to get back to London, I wanna spit! Next year, I hope to be coming back around this time, my birthday. :)

Paris, yeah, don't think I'll be going to France ANYTIME soon.

How anti-American are they feeling? We were actually thinking of Paris first but we are open to other cities. London is the one place over there that my roommate has been to. I have been to Amsterdam but it was for work so I saw hardly anything and would love to go again. Maybe we'll go there! The winters there are pretty mild if I remember correctly, especially compared to New England.

I think the Anti-American feeling is quite strong, the French opposed the Iraq "liberation" but are now quick enough to want their contractors involved in the rebuild of the country  I disagreed with the reasons for going into Iraq but from the information I read it seems France had a nice agreement over oil with Saddam so they are a bit pissed still... But I wouldn't not go just because some locals might (will!) be rude because it's a place you must see at least once. The countryside is really nice.

New England winters.... haha, yes every year I dread Miami going in to face the Patriots and floundering in the snow...

Janet 05-17-2005 01:03 PM

I have been to Amsterdam 6 years running and it's a fun city. Lots of clubs and places to go. In April it's chilly ( 50's) so I can imagine their winters...I guess compared to New England anything seems mild, even New Jersey. Mari would know...

Paris was fine for me. I don't know French and I felt fine. It gets FREEZING there. I was there in February and it was 20 degrees everyday. Maybe that was rare but I told myself that Paris only in spring! No fun climbing the Eiffel Tower in snow LOL.

London, I want to go back there because that's fun. I had someone to stay with so it's alot cheaper.

That's all I have been to though. So many more cities to explore! You are so lucky SuzeQuze you can go!

Mari 05-17-2005 01:07 PM

Pretty mild usually, we only had one week of snow this winter, and that was in March..
Same climate as London, I think. And just as fun:D

You'll be ok, if you try and speak a bit of French and/or pass as a French person, by being totally fluent! Speak English and you can forget it!
Yeah, I can recommend Florence ..based on my one and only visit there, a few years back..it's lovely.

i USED 2 wrk w/ this VERY religious guy, not sure what religion, & i am NOT knocking religion here, but he would sit @ his desk w/ his hymns playing, praying outloud so loudly, & i wear a cresent moon like stevie & he used 2 say it gave me a black heart~ i have no idea what he meant i never bothered him & was the only 1 who never mad fun of him~ but 2 this day i hear he is still praying & singing & his desk~

Mari 05-18-2005 07:37 AM

how about people talking to themselves?

< complain >
The colleague I shared my room with today, started out with a coveted racist slur about another colleague (grrr) , and then as usual she's been talking to herself on a level I can just hear for the rest of the day.
Some more of those negative remarks about various people, just in a way that you don't realise what she's saying until 5 minutes later. But it's always the other people who make mistakes, never her. You can't tell her about a mistake she makes anyway because she'll go mad. And she's very chaotic so there have been plenty of things gone wrong!
Oh, and she's the type to complain to the bosses that the rest of us aren't nice enough to her. All so indirect and manipulative, I hate that.
I got along really great with the other woman I share this room with, but it's not likely she'll come back (recent bancruptcy of part of the company).

I know Australians in France have to clarify they are Australians are the French are really cold to them, but once they realise you are Australian it is okay.

REALLY?!? That's surprising. When I was up in Canada (a 1/4 century ago), I remember people complaining that they got treated really poorly and snobbishly by the French people. (Apparently, the Canadian French language is more than just subtly different dialect than European French...snobbishly looked down upon by the Parisian French). At least, that's what I was told.

tuigirl 05-18-2005 10:57 AM

Chili..they seemed to "adopt" those French/Canadians as their own..you know not quite French, but they'll do, coz theyr'e from the outer terriories, kinda thing. I was suggesting, they'd go down better in France, if they pretended to be from there, rather than from the American/ Canadian side.
You could of course, totally avoid speaking to the French people all together, while in France..problem of nationality solved..pointing and mumbling is always useful.

Yeah, but I don't think we're as specifically rude to people who visit our country from other countries as the french are. In fact, I believe it's known that Americans in general are a fairly friendly lot, on a personal level. :wavey:

I totally agree with you Amber, Americans are a friendly welcoming bunch (you are an example of that :xoxo:  ) but there is a definite belief that America is superior in the world arena, it's why so many countries have disagreements with the States, because America interfere with the policies and internal actions of other countries far too much (usually because they have something to lose) sometimes with direct consequences (Vietnam, Iraq, Iran etc). This is why they get targeted for terror attacks more by extremists. As I've said before, it's not so much noticed inside America but when you travel around other countries especially in Europe and Asia you get a better picture. Look at the treaty on global warming and reduction of burning fossil fuels, everybody agrees on it except the USA, they won't sign because they are the biggest users and abusers and there is a belief they are above it....

The French are generally arrogant and rude as people, based on my opinions because I've never conversed with a pleasant one in 30 years on the planet.

The Brits are seen as either "reserved" or with a weed up their ass by other countries and they have a thug mentality when abroad which I also believe is true because I'm ashamed to say I've experienced it so it's all about generalisations..
