Good artists, Bad albums

We've done the whole underrated/overlooked thread, but what albums do you think didn't live up to expectations and deserve to be overlooked?

My list-

Pop- U2
St. Anger- Metallica
Risk- Megadeth
The Final Cut- Pink Floyd
Forbidden- Black Sabbath
Turbo- Judas Priest
No Prayer for the Dying- Iron Maiden
"The Spaghetti Incident?"- Guns n' Roses
Just Push Play- Aerosmith
Q2K- Queensryche
Ozzmosis- Ozzy Osbourne
Coda- Led Zeppelin

And for every person that lists Street Angel, I shall deliver a plague onto your house.

NaiveMelody23 05-04-2005 06:27 PM

hmmm

Behind the Mask- Fleetwood Mac
Space Oddity- David Bowie
Bella Donna- Stevie Nicks...so shoot me :sorry:
The top- The Cure

I cannot think of any to be honest. Quite simply, because an artists work is like wine..it really is not appreciated until it is old and such, but those albums had sour grapes.

thepoetinmyhear 05-04-2005 06:56 PM

Tori Amos - Strange Little Girls
The Pretenders - Viva L'amour
Lindsey Buckingham - Go Insane (honestly 3/4 of this album aren't even songs)
Blink 182 - Cheshire Cat
Peter Gabriel - Peter Gabriel 2
Blondie - No Exit
Jewel - 0304
Alanis Morisette - Supposed Former Infatuation Junkie
u2 - Pop

I think the following are pretty bad for the most part...

David Bowie- Hours and Tonight
Stevie Nicks- Street Angel
Madonna- American Life
Tina Turner- Twenty-Four Seven
Courtney Love- America's Sweetheart

But seriously folks, I just couldn't get into that album. When it comes to Blondie I am not really a huge fan. I enjoy many of her songs, almost all of her solo albums, but my preference is "just the hits." No exit was terrible. I enjoyed Maria and Screaming Skin and nothing else. Maybe I'll put in tonight to see if that still holds true. It has been a while since I even attempted to listen to it.

I enjoyed Maria and Screaming Skin and everything else. Maybe I'll put in right this second to see if that still holds true. It has been five minutes since I even attempted to listen to it.

cheater, cheater.

Emoticons added for authenticity.

That Jewel album, 0304, was such a disappointment. I had all of her mainstream releases and when intuition the song came out I couldn't believe it was Jewel. Then I saw the video and knew that for the first time since Pieces of You, I would not be buying a Jewel album on release day. I still don't own that album.

Oh, you like jewel, but not no exit. It's all starting to make more sense now... And by the way, I don't really like U2 that much, so Nyah!

Well I guess you showed me.

You can actually browse some of my CDs here:
Some of my CDs

if that would give you more of an insight. I also forgot to mention the person this topic screams out for:

Carly Simon - Spoiled Girl (yeeech! What was she thinking?)

Yeah, it's fairly cool site, the only problem is that it is entirely based on user submissions so many, many things are missing in all the categories and the submission process is usually a rather lengthy form. I'll only fill it out every once in a while, otherwise I just forget about the titles. It was great however when I needed to itemize everything for my insurance.

NaiveMelody23 05-04-2005 10:23 PM

I really didnt like Law and Order by Lindsey nor any Christine solo albums.

other than that, I dotn have anythign agaisnt albums lol

Blondie- No Exit=Heaven.
So not bad, plus so many dislike Autoamerica for some ofdd reason. I lvoe it.

I love most of that album!!! "The Wives are in Connecticut" is one of my favorite Carly songs. Also, I love "Anyone But Me," "Make Me Feel Something," and "Black Honeymoon." I love the darkness there. (Cheesy sentence...:sorry:

NaiveMelody23 05-04-2005 10:45 PM

Taking Back Sundays new cd is total garbage and I am not a big fan of Bjork's Medula

I think that's one of their best, actually. It's ballsy, like their first two albums. I love it. It's not typical Pretenders, but it's still great, and, really, true to form. Rather experimental, but that's a good thing.

Anyway. Viva<3<3<3. I'll post my albums later. I'm too tired to think anymore now.

thepoetinmyhear 05-05-2005 12:00 AM

All right folks, the following are albums I mentioned that people haven't said I was out of my mind for disliking yet. Pick one and call me crazy::laugh:

Lindsey Buckingham - Go Insane (honestly 3/4 of this album aren't even songs)
Blink 182 - Cheshire Cat
Peter Gabriel - Peter Gabriel 2

Pop is my favorite U2 album ever. It is one of those 'love it or hate it' albums, granted.

I liked Supposed Former Infatuation Junkie although I lost it with my disc changer cartridge, son of a...

Stevie Nicks- OSOTM Sorry guys, but this album is just such a downer for me, and well I've never even listened to Street Angel b/c that eras songs are just well...
Madonna- Erotica, and American Life, both are pretty bad
Tamyra Grey-The Dreamer, such high hopes for her and the album is so short on her strongest points of any really good powerful vocals.
Wilson Phillips-California, no bite, no edge, and hearing GYOW eeekk.

Yeah, what I've heard from that is bad. I'm fond of their self-titled and Shadows and Light CDs, though. But I guess they just shouldn't have made a comeback. :sorry:

I love both of them. Europa from Autoamerican cracks me up, they sure were ballsy to open the album with it. It's the first album where they really went after a lot of different genres and pulled it off perfectly. I wish they'd do more songs from that album live.

I remember being in ecstasy when No Exit came out and I still adore it as much, maybe even moreso, than when it first came out. Those first couple of years when they first reunited were something else, I'll never forget it.

Me thinks the one springing to mind is "Devils and Dust. Bruce Springsteen"
Heres me thinking another Ghost of Tom Joad which wouldnt have been to bad but this new one sucks. £10 wasted!

cliffdweller 05-06-2005 04:10 PM

Joni Mitchell- Anything post Hejira (look, she's one of my favorites and I still think this)

Stevie Nicks- Rock a Little and Street Angel

P.J. Harvey- Is This Desire?

Radiohead- Kid A and those other attrocious albums post O.K. Computer EXCEPT Hail to the Thief--that's a good 'un.

Christine McVie- In the Meantime

Behind the Mask is one of the FM CDs that I don't have yet. I'm looking forward to getting it based on some of the comments that have been made on this board recently. I also already know that I dig three of the tracks--"Skies the Limit," "Love is Dangerous," and "Save Me."
