Favorite kid movies?

So I was watching Cloak and Dagger (Henry Thomas and Dabney Coleman) yesterday and laughing at my dork ass for watching a kid's movie...

But there are some that I still just love...what are some of your favorites?

Here are some of mine:

Cloak and Dagger
Flight of the Navigator
Parent Trap
Mary Poppins
Princess Diaries
Aladdin
Lilo and Stitch (it made me cry :p)

I love Bad News Bears, Matthau is really wonderful in it. I imagined Akira couldn't be really for kids, with all the exploding bodies and the rest . Ghost in the shell was great too even if a bit depressing. I also liked a lot the new movie by Otomo, Steamboy, and the new from Miyazaki Howl's moving Castle, the old lady is a hoot.

Romy

seeker007nmss 05-01-2005 07:21 PM

I just saw the Incredibles...... Well done flick!

irishgrl 05-01-2005 07:22 PM

Labyrinth
War of the Buttons (my personal fave)

Oh, I haven't seen Howl's moving Castle! I would love to, I loved Spirited Away. I'll put Steamboy on my list, too.

OMG!

Labrynth - love it. could do without David Bowie in tights though.

The Neverending Story - classic.

Robin Hood - the Disney cartoon. I think Robin is so cute in it and used to have a crush on him. Yes, I had a crush on a fox. Plus, the tunes in here are the best of any Disney movie evah "Robin Hood and Little John running through the forest, ooh da ladi, ooh da ladi, golly what a day." yes. i am a nerd.

The Parent Trap - the one with Hailey Mills. Especially the cake scene. Cracks me up.

And the Bad News Bears too, but not the one with Walter Matheau. The one where they go play in the Astrodome. :)

Incredible Journey - the orignal. When the old dog comes over the hill at the very end made me cry everytime!!

Private Eyes - the one with Don Knotts (is that is name) and the other guy..?? The part where the other guy (again, forgetting the name) keeps dropping the cans of peaches on Don's head. OMG!!

StevieNicksEO17 05-01-2005 08:36 PM

THE WIZARD OF OZ! You still can't pry me away from the TV when it's on. I'll rip your face off. :)

dissention 05-01-2005 09:35 PM

GOONIES
Ice Age
TOY STORY
Wallace & Grommit
the Sandlot (fooorrr-evvvv-errrr)

macfanken 05-01-2005 10:10 PM

The Muppet Movie and The Muppets Take Manhattan are currently at the top of my Blockbuster online queue. I'll think of some more.

Unico was one of my favorites as a kid! I didn't think anyone else watched that!! No one ever knows what I'm talking about when I mention it. I've been trying to find it for my daughter and it's always $$$$$ on Ebay. I was a little suprised by that.

Ok...other favorties....
Care Bares, vintage Strawberry Shortcake  , Finding Nemo, Shrek...can't think of any others now. Has anyone heard of an old kids movie called Caty the Caterpiller? I have been trying to find that one, too, with no results.

thepoetinmyhear 05-01-2005 10:36 PM

Diss, I just wanted to let you know:

I love it. It's so well-made that I can't stand it. When Bowie first appears in a cloud of glitter and juggles those crystal balls? I lose it. So much fun.

Hey, does Heathers count as a kids movie? I love that movie. I quote it pretty much daily!

Dark Angel 05-01-2005 10:58 PM

I'm not sure how long this list is going to be. I have a four year-old, so I've seen so many Disney & Pixar films, it's insane.

Beauty And The Beast
ET
The Little Mermaid
Aladdin
Finding Nemo
Cinderella
Sleeping Beauty
The NeverEnding Story
Alice In Wonderland
Peter Pan (the recent film version)
Hook
Shrek I & II
The Lion King
Fantasia

Too many more to list...

Followed by liquid draino cocktails, viewings of sexually perverse photographs involving tennis racquets, and hippy freak discussions about suicide and the woes of cow tipping.

Yup, the kids have a blast.

What an utterly foul movie. I wanted to take a shower after watching it because I felt so filthy.

I don't think I've seen either of those. Thanks for mentioning them, I may have to check those out. :) If I can get the television away from my daughter for awhile.
