Stevie's Most Rockin Performance

Of the Commercially available, I think it is without exception, Gold and Braid from the BD concert. I was watching it again (THANKS GLITTER) and she just gets up on it and rides it to the end. I mean she flat out dances the mashed potatoe (her version) at the end. The energy of that is awe inspiring to me.

I think a very close second is SOTM from the Mirage video.

Third - Rosebud Rhiannon, which is STUNNING!

Honorable mention to Blue Denim from Letterman and the Janis inspired scream at the end.

Silver Springs from The Dance is one of my fav.'s but that is not really a rocker.

Anyway, let's hear your fav.'s

 Before I read what you said, just the title, I was like "I sure like that belladonna double shot of G&B and I Need to Know! :D
I basically agree with you.
SOTM Mirage (also, Chain Mirage really, really, really gets me, but that's with Linds, so. but still)
Yep, Rosebud...
I really enjoy Japan GDW, the caterwauliness of it. OWOAAOWOWOWOAAAOWOWOWOWOAAAOWWOWOWOWOW!!!

What's the big deal about this scream? It lasted a second.

Tusk! 04-26-2005 09:18 PM

Although it is not on video, Rhiannon live from the Rumours tour and the first Fleetwood Mac tour in 1975 rocked the hardest. Her nightly performanances probably helped ruin her vocal cords for years. You could not even count the number of twirls, there were so many!

It was her most animated moment since RAL - it took me by surprise after TOSOTM tour.

I would say SOTM from Mirage was THE Stevie Nicks performance of a lifetime... I would also say "Gold Dust Woman" from the Dance is up there...

I LOVE GDW from The Dance, but it did not want to make me get up and dance like GOld and Braid. But, it was FAB. and that scream and the sort of collapse at the end - SHEEEEEEEEEEEEEBUS

For some reason Rhiannon dance really gets to me. The yelling 'dreams unwind' part, of course. It's very sensual, somehow. To me, anyway. GDW, too.

The entire US Festival performance! :p I love the comedy between songs!

Gold Dust Woman from the Dance is my favorite. So sexy, raw, and powerful.

Edit - Need to add Rhiannon from the Midnight Special.

Dreammms 04-26-2005 10:37 PM

Gold and Braid and Sara from BD show are my favorites. For some reason every time I watch Sara from BD I cry.

Also want to add Stand Back from SYW Live In Boston. Love the energy.

Further proof that we were separated at birth. :p

That's my favorite, too, along with Stand Back from Letterman in '98 (the one with the hideous eye makeup) and Rhiannon from the Mirage video.

I don't recall her doing "Stand Back" on Letterman's show. Wasn't it Leno's?
I remember how short her bangs were... like someone tried to even them up, and kept cutting and cutting. Was a great "Stand Back" though.

Going by the criteria of what gets me up on my feet, I would have to pick "Gold And Braid" as my favorite "rockin'" performance.

SOTM from the mirage video cracks me up

Yup, it was Leno

Mageboy25 04-27-2005 03:44 AM

Any version of Stand Back rocks with me. To me it most rocks at a Fleetwood Mac show because its so unexpected. The Nashville crowd went ape shiit last summer when they all realized what the song was. Stevie's spinning in place at the brigde made them all scream again. The vocal of Stevie's Stand Back from the Tango Concert video kicks major ass too, even though she just stands at the mike stand(thank you klonopin).

We can all thank cocaine for the kickass BD Golden Braid/I Need To Know!!!!

Kelly 04-27-2005 05:36 AM

tango

Every time Stevie tells that "blob" story when describing what the klonopin did to her, I think of that Tango dvd. My apologies to those who like it..she does look great..but her energy level and committment to the performance are at an all time low. She literally does not move away from the mic.....the only thing I like about the entire dvd is her mini skirt.

back to the topic...favorite rocking performance.
GDW from the Dance. I love the wild eyes and how she just let go.
SoTM and The Chain...mirage
Stand Back...storytellers...love the grinding with Carlos.

BTW...I thought she looked smoking hot throughout Enchanged...Leno included. She was simply gorgeous every time I saw her. My husband, who thinks she is ok but prefers younger Stevie..thinks she is hot as Hell on Storytellers. I do like the jewel thing she did on her head back then too.

xxxmx 04-27-2005 07:13 AM

okay, definitely Braid from the HBO concert.

but, just to add it though it doesn't necessarily 'rock' - Rhiannon from the Dance. it may be the most beautiful. when she's singing 'take me like the wind child, take me with the sky... take me now' she pulls her hand up to her face and is just more knockout gorgeous at that moment than any other moment in time.

Mad4stevie 04-27-2005 07:20 AM

SOTM from Mirage Video and Tusk Documentary (she rocks that one!)

I completely agree. She looked beautiful on Storytellers.

I love that red dress... she should wear it more often! And it was a killer version of the song, too -- probably my favorite. Benmont's piano was gorgeous, and Stevie sang beautifully. Not exactly "rocking," though. ;)
I think my choices for that designation have all already been mentioned.

That gives me chills just to read your post!! I adore that version! When the lights go up and BAM, the energy level goes all to hell!! Love it! I need to listen to that one today.

The version she did of Edge at the Concert for the Environment gives me chills too because she's totally possessed during the scream. Listen to it, possessed, I say.

I haven't watched any Stevie videos I have in a long time, so I can't comment on Gold and Braid. Perhaps I'll watch that video today. I dunno.

Also, agree with SOTM Mirage video...the gibberish and energy. When Lindsey lays his head on her back....GREATNESS!

and then the "would you be my would you be my would you be my" that she mouths away from the mic. I LOVE this version!!!!!

I love it for that and the tittie flapping at the end - she nearly blackens and eye
