Anyone going?

catinthedark 04-11-2005 11:11 AM

Sounds like it'd be cool. I hope the film gets released elsewhere...

GardenStateGirlie 04-11-2005 12:57 PM

Hopefully it will be released to smaller theaters. I'll definitely be on the lookout for it because it sounds interesting. Thanks for the heads up, Tiff!

Livia 04-11-2005 01:02 PM

They showed it here during SXSW - I really wanted to see it, but there was no way I was gonna make the 1:30 PM showing the day after the music awards.

I've read tons of stuff about this film, and this is the first mention of Stevie being in it - now I'm bummed I didn't see it! Grrr....

EnchantedSLN 04-11-2005 01:49 PM

trailer: http://www.allwearesaying.net/. there are a couple brief clips of stevie.

strandinthewind 04-11-2005 02:08 PM

Thank you so much for posting that!!!!!

Can I just say La Hynde is a TRIP and I LOVE her, esp. when she says something about fashion made her despise the business

dissention 04-11-2005 02:47 PM

If it's anything like Arquette's first documentary, I'll pass.

You HAVE to look at the clip as D. Harry is in it briefly, C, Hynde is a scream, and La Nicks obviously was unaware of the angle of the camera

Check out "Searching For Debra Winger" and you'll be convinced that Arquette sets up unflattering shots on purpose.

Well, she is supine on the coach in this one with the camera on her chest (can you say GEL FILTER worthy of any steady cam   :wavey: ) shooting an up sout of Chrissie H. I suggest that is not the most flattering shot of anyone much less her

Well, I just watched the trailer and it looks like trash about "artists" complaining about what they "gave up" to become stars (oh Stevie, who cares, honestly  ) and bitching about music downloading (my heart bleeds for Steven Tyler). How entertaining.

I do think Stevie looks great, though, as does Debbie. And I will see it somehow just for Chrissie, she's a RIOT. Tom Petty and David Crosby had me rolling, too.

i'm going to make a documentary about fans telling what they 'gave up' in order to get those front row seats, or go to those two extra shows, or to buy that $40 shirt... and it won't even be 'complaining' because we don't see it that way. sure, i'll complain about the FOUL stevie/douchebag-don prices at the borgata, but i somehow didn't mind paying much much more than that for my FM tix at the same venue. it won't be complaining, it will be glorious...

wondergirl9847 04-11-2005 06:33 PM

Dude

WTH is up with Thom Yorke's eye? Is it always that freaky?! It reminds me of that talking eye commercial. LOL

Livia 04-11-2005 06:50 PM

Coolness! Another great Stevie quote! And ITA w/ Tom Petty!!!

amber 04-11-2005 07:39 PM

Oh, man, after watching that trailer, i totally want to see this! Stevie's so great, I love how the trailer starts with her. Chrissie is also rad. Tom Petty <3. And Gwen! Gwen is in it! Yay! I'm such a whore for famous people talking...
thanks for the heads up, Tiff.

golden braid 04-11-2005 08:19 PM

I hope this movie gets released. I really want to see it, and not just for Stevie! I like Tom Petty and David Crosby's comments.

xdreamsunwindx 04-11-2005 08:48 PM

Awww, Stevie's so cute. And, Chrissie's so crazy. <3 And Tom! Gwen! Patti! I really wanna see this. :[

It is just a technical thing that probably only I and Dissention would notice  I thought she was up shot and did not realize it. She usually is photgraphed dead to front or maybe a little to the side. But, I agree she looked very good.

If the past is any indication, it'll get a premiere on Cinemax. Arquette's stuff usually does.

Yeah. Well. Sorry. I guess the 10 years I've worked in TV have been as big old waste of time.

Personally, I thought she looked completely natural. And I'd bet the camera sitting to her left was just a little more than a little obvious to her. Tough to hide those buggers. People vary camera positions all the time for interviews. Especially when they know they will be intercutting them, as in an interview-heavy doc. It helps to have some people looking left, some right, some just to off centre, etc.

yeah, exactly, about your first point.
I thought the angle was totally normal. It was from the side and didn't seem upshot, either.

I think she looks great... Actually, she looks thinner than she does now... I wonder when that interview with her was shot... my guess would be either 2001 or before...

Then you should be able to tell that she looks like she is talking into the the wrong camera  :wavey:

But seriously, I think the angle of that shot looks different to what she normally does and she she usually looks at the camera. It works though and I am not slamming it or, for that matter, you :)

Also and unrelated to the above, everyone else's shots are pretty candid with little lighting and with what appears to be more than one hand held camera. Her shot, lord love her, appears less than candid and with fab. lighting  -- I do not blame her as it makes her look great. I mean that is a woman in her 50's and she looks much younger than that.

Anyone going?

The angle she's chosen to tell the story seems intriguing, I'm curious to see it.

I really want to see this. I love how Chrissie said something about hating that fashion has anything to do with R&R. All I could think of was Stevie's outfits.

And how cute is Stevie saying "half-assed?"

Steven Tyler? Shut up please. I'm sure your music is worth a bit more than 12 cents.

This is such a pet peeve of mine. The "you are too rich already so I am going to steal from you" is a lame excuse that no one wants applied to them.

Who determines who makes so much that they should work for free and/or not mind when people steal their work product? That is an arbitrary standard by which none of us would like to be judged. I am sure none of us want some homeless person walking into our homes and taking food off of our table and justifying it by saying "you have too much already" Surely in that instance the homeless person is correct in that most of us have far more than they do  Downloading for free someone's commercially available product is the same thing as that just on a smaller scale.

Then, what about the people the record companies have to let go because sales decline? I am sure they would just love your reasoning  In fact, I think they should come to your house and stay with you when they lose their homes. After all, under your reasoning that is enough to justify taking your house

Finally, I think the minute we all have enough to sustain us at the barest minimum, we should just give our services and the remainder of our money away. Better yet, I think GM makes too much money, so why don't I just go and steal myself a car  You could also just walk into Target and take the CD, after all I am sure Target makes enough money as well.

Again, this is a huge pet peeve of mine. If you want the music, buy it. If you cannot afford it - tough, you have to wait until you can afford it. You are owed nothing in this world and it is stealing to take it without paying for it no matter how you rationalize it.

On another note, I think the music industry is silly not to recognize the marketing potential of downloading. But that is a whole other topic.

Whoa... quite a reaction from you on this... first of all, i never said that this was right or wrong.. i just said that the richest of the rich should quit their bitching... if downloading affects anyone, it's the smaller artists who are just trying to establish themselves in the music industry... someone like Steven Tyler or Madonna shouldn't have a hissy fit over it... If an artist is too lazy to get off their ass and WORK for their money and go out on the road and make REAL money, then that's their problem.. so now Madonna, who used to tour every 6 years, has to tour every 5 years to make the same kind of money she used to... poor Madonna, must be such a struggle for her..

You prevented Stevie from getting a few extra pennies to buy her dog a new diamond studded collar! Damn you to hell and I hope you're prosecuted!

My ass is going to have your ass in so much trouble with the RIAA that you're going to go to prison for a long while, little miss. Forget about license plates, you're going to be manufacturing CDs for the very industry you singlehandedly robbed of a few pennies!
