Ledgie Parties in LV (is it too soon?)

Guess I'm just a little too excited, but is it too soon to ask about pre-show gatherings? I know people are going on various nights and coming and going at different times.

My daughter and I are going the first night but we're arriving early the day before and leaving late on the 11th. Just curious... I'm already planning our activities and it's more than a month away! :blob1: :] :blob2:
I would love to meet some Ledgies and I'm sure she'd get a kick out of it too. She's a big internet-head... jes like her mom.

:woohoo:

Where are you staying? I know there are a bunch of us staying at the Flamingo. My group is arriving the ninth but late in the evening. We probably won't even get to the hotel until 11.00pm or so. I will probably be tired from the travel and time change but amped at the thought of seeing Stevie and meeting everyone. I cannot believe it is now a month away. I am soooo glad I was talked into going. I would hate to miss something like this...especially the first show.

Count us in at the Flamingo. Theresa & I arrive on Tues 5/10 around 3:30, we should be at the hotel between 4 & 4:30pm. We leave late afternoon Thursday 5/12. I'm up to meet out whenever, wherever.

TwistedGypsy 04-06-2005 03:48 PM

I think we're staying at the Flamingo also. We'll be getting there Tuesday morning around 10 and then leaving late afternoon Thursday.

I will be there at the same times. Cept I'm not sure if I'm leaving Thurs or not. And I'll probably be at the hotel around 1-2.

We're staying at the Luxor. I'll prolly leave the house around 4am Monday, our flight is 8:30am and we have a two and a half drive to the airport. Our first night might be an early one too.

In the event anyone who's in town Monday night and too amped to sleep, here's a karaoke place and a list of all the places in town that have karaoke.

Barbary Coast Casino 3595 S. Las Vegas Blvd. 737-7111 Darrel/Joe “The Hat” M T L+D 8-1:30

Otherwise, we should plan to all meet for an early dinner Tuesday before the show at the Hard Rock. How does that sound?!

No way Theresa & I could make the Hard Rock. Much too far away from the venue, and we don't arrive until 3:30 on Tues.

we should go somewhere after. People said they might be tired, but right after the show? won't everyone be all excited? And hungry?

It's off the Strip. Anywhere from 10 - 20 minutes in a cab depending on how quickly they drive/traffic/etc. I'm a nervous nelly when it comes to being on time, so I'd rather go somewhere closer if we meet before the show.

And we are so going out after the shows no matter what!

Just a suggestion, doesn't matter what day/time/etc. But Chinois is a really good Asian restaurant right in Caesar's (in the Forum Shops.) It's a Wolfgang Puck place - very good food & not too pricey. Extraordinary sushi, as well as other Japanese food. They also have Chinese food for the less adventurous. :p

Ah! I like that food, (japanese, not so much chinese) but people may want more regular food after. But i'm sure there's all kinds of places to eat, right close. I thought Vegas was the land of cheap buffets? :p

Chinois is okay for the sushi, but we'd prefer to eat at the great little Vietnamese restaurant a block away. We will all meet there after the show. I'll be staying in Room 1209 at Caesar's & will have an open-room/house for Stevie fans that afternoon & the following day. Everyone drop by for some guacamole & a hi-ball!

Oh, definitely. No need to worry at all. There is no shortage of food in Vegas - any type, any place, any time. Even the smallest hotels have several nice restaurants & casual food courts. :xoxo:

The cheap buffets can be scary though. You have to be careful.

I would rather do something after. I will want to eat after the show and this way we can talk about the show. I would rather go someplace that has regular types of food because I am fussy. That is my input.

I know that it is not that exciting but I think that there might be a Denny's near my hotel and the Flamingo. I know that Vegas is open 24 hours but sometimes it is still hard to find a place open for food. I will not be happy at all if I don't get to eat after the show. WARNING!

skcin 04-08-2005 07:31 PM

I will also want to eat after the show. I used to have a really good listing of restaurants in Vegas including prices, hours, cuisine, etc. I will try to locate it.

One place that I wanted to go to last time but didn't fit it in was the buffet at Mirage - it's supposed to be different than the usual (I think you order the food from an enormous selection & they make it right away for you so it's fresh as opposed to sitting out for hours.)

I will start my food research......................................................NOW! :p

The Spice Market Buffet at the Aladdin, and the Bellagio's lunch buffet are awesome. Spice Market is supposedly rated really high in terms of food/price for Vegas eateries. The Paris Hotel has good French food (I know where to find Marissa...) too, but I think they're a little more expensive.

You think they're a little more expensive? I won't be able to go near Paris on my budget. It is beautiful though.

Actually, it really is hard to judge just by hotel. Delmonico's (Emeril's place) at The Venetian is about $30 per person for dinner, which is not terrible considering it's a nice steak joint with incredible food at a 5 star hotel.

BTW Tiff, there's a cute little Japanese restaurant at Monte Carlo. Didn't eat there, but it looked nice.

sodascouts 04-08-2005 07:55 PM

Kristin and I are game for meeting up after the Tues. or Wed. show.

desertangel 04-08-2005 08:38 PM

Are you serious David? That sounds like something I would have done when I was younger. If you're serious, we're there. :woohoo:

Folks, I haven't been to Vegas since 1976. You might as well say I've never been because I remember very little about that trip. The Travel Channel aired a piece about The Palms (3 hour wait to get into the Ghostbar) last night and I got a quick glimpse of The Strip. It is a lot bigger and longer than I had imagined/remembered it. So I know what everyone's talking about getting around to the different places in a fair amount of time. Good grief. I'd better put a little more thought into what we're going to do while we're there or we're likely to end up spending a lot of time transporting or "Standing in a line."

I am up for whatever everyone decides about after the show on Tuesday. I'll keep checking back here to see what is decided. I'm not particular about what kind of food or how much it costs. The place at Caesar's sounds nice and convenient. Any chance it might be really crowded after the show or does it matter to anyone? Anyplace convenient to the venue would be best.

YAY! heehee

Lol, sorry... the one time I was there it was someone else's treat and he made us order without looking at prices, so I don't know what the avg. meal costs. French food though, so I can imagine. Japanese, eh? I think I can safely say that is one type of food I have never tried. Maybe we should check it out!

 I may not eat there but I certainly would love to go see it. I have to make a list of stuff i've been told to go and check out.

I was told to save up for food and drink for Vegas--my friend said saying you can eat in Vegas inexpensively? is a lie. If you go for the convience of the strip, you're going to pay more. She told me every morning at The Flamingo they paid 20 some dollars for the breakfast. From their hotel room, there was a sign that said "Five Dollar all you can eat breakfast" with pancakes on the sign. They tried to find it more than once but never could

I plan on doing a little research but I am a huge $40 A Day/Rachael Ray nerd and she did a show in Vegas.

Most is off the strip but i'm not sure how far away or if it's in walking distance for us.

Yeah... a lot of stuff is ridiculously expensive just because it can be. They know you don't want to venture too far offstrip and will shell out the extra cash to avoid doing so. There are some good deals to be found, though. You can definitely find breakfast for under $20. The Flamingo is whack, apparently :p. I'll be going out for breakfast, if that's the case.

There's actually quite a bit in walking distance. There are also cabs on every corner and it's pretty cheap to get around that way if you ride with a couple friends. Plus, if y'all ever want to go out to eat together or something, we'll have a car ;).

Oh, they're totally going to sell it to you because they know the average tourist is going to want convenience over savings. They've made the trip to Vegas to gamble and spend money--mind as well spend it on food, too. If there's anything i've learned from watching Food TV, it's to check for discounts with the hotel and to get local suggestions from the people working there. Plus, I do believe we have a few locals of our own from The Ledge that i'm sure can suggest something decent  I'm down for whatever. (*waits for Kelly to interject with a "YOU NEVER EAT" *) I'm sure even though I can be slightly picky (as Pattie apparently also is), it's looking like Vegas can please everyones taste buds (including us pains in the ass). It looks like if not dinner, I can get some breakfast at Le Village Buffet in Paris (croissant's with a little bit of butter and strawberry jam are my friend Tiff!). Apparently it's $10. That's the price you'd pay here for a decent breakfast.

Breakfast is great over at the Cannery, where Mirage gigged last October. We could all meet over there!

I like pancakes with syrup, cheese omelets, eggs Benedict, hash browns (crispy on the outside & soft on the inside) & a plate of real corned beef hash.

I chase it down with a hot chocolate or a vodka screwball.

Girl..I am so there for breakfast with ya. (um, even though you will probably just 'look' at that croissant) Breakfast is one of my most favorite meals. Personally, I hate eating late at night, it stays on my ass forever, but I can nibble and have a drink or whatever after the show. Plus, I want to jam in as much sight seeing as we can into our three days, I have never been west either. I am really glad we have Paula and Tiff to give us pointers. At least we will be able to figure out what is the best for us to see and how to go about getting there. I would feel like a babe in the woods without some friends who are familiar with Vegas. Kandace lived there too!

skcin 04-09-2005 09:27 AM

It is possible to eat cheap in Vegas, but you have to look. Those $1.99 buffets are:

1) Hard to find - they're more in downtown Vegas or smaller gambling towns like Laughlin (which is a very funny/scary/tacky/weird place.)

2) Scary when you do find them.

Buffets can run anywhere from $9.95 up to $24.95, depending on where you go & what they have. MGM's breakfast buffet is very good, I think it's close to $20 though. Patty's right, there is a Denny's right near Caesars but it's a normal sized Denny's, so it's packed all the time. There's also a busy McD's around there, if someone wants a dollar menu quick fix.

As far as going off Strip - it's not a bad thing, but we should definitely go after the show rather than before. God forbid we run late, or there's an accident or something. I would be so pissed.

There was a brew pub on the Strip that served burgers & stuff, I can't think of the name right now. It was farther down, near the Riviera/Circus Circus. I'll try to find out if it's still there. As time goes on, we'll figure out a place & time. We may have to start another thread to post when & where everyone can meet - Diss will kill us! :p

EDIT: I also am a huge fan of breakfast! :blob1:
