Cars

What kind of car/truck/etc. do you drive?

What do you want to get for your next car?

What car would you never, ever buy/drive?

What is your dream car?

I drive a bright red 97 Chevy Monte Carlo. It still runs great, body's good & the best part is that it's paid for.

I've never owned anything besides Montes (I had a 77 & 84 before this one. My dad had a kickin' 72 a few years back. Gorgeous. Some guy smashed into it. ) but I'm thinking of going for a small SUV within the next year or two, mainly cuz the 2 door thing is becoming more & more of a pain and I need more room (for dog, camping, shopping, whatev.) Jeep Liberty, Saturn VUE & Hyundai Tuscon are on the list of possibilities.

I would never get one of those Honda Element square cars. I think they're hideous :sorry:

I don't really have one anymore. I used to love Corvettes, but now - eh. BMW/Mercedes/etc. do nothing for me.

DrummerDeanna 03-29-2005 01:43 PM

Right now I'm drivng a 1999 Mazda Protege...that I bought all by myself - I was SO proud lol...it's almost paid for. It's dark green, 4 door...and on the back window I have: A Beatle logo sticker, an NPR logo sticker and a WXXI logo sticker for the station I work for...

For my next car I'm thinking about either a Volkwagon - like a Jetta, or a Subaru...or another Mazda.

I'd NEVER drive a Ford :p or a Dodge...or a Grand Am...I hate them....

I love VWs, wanted a Passat for a long time. And yes, Dodge sucks.

hayley 03-29-2005 01:59 PM

I drive a 2002 Hyundai Elantra. It's ocean blue. 4-door. It's a sweet ride.

I don't have any idea what my next car will be. I'd like to get this one paid for. And then I'd like no car. I hate cars. I hate driving. I hate car payments. I hate car insurance.

I hate Honda Elements, too. I also hate the Toyota Matrix, and the Pontiac Vibe and the Aztek. And PT Cruisers. And those new Scions. I hate a lot of things.

I don't really have a dream car. One that's paid for. Although I do think that new Ford Mustang is HOT. And I hate sports cars.

A friend of mine drives a Passat - and it is niiiiice....I love it - but can't afford that level of VW -at least not now :P

Vianna 03-29-2005 02:15 PM

What kind of car/truck/etc. do you drive? A Mustang Convertible GT and I love it!

What do you want to get for your next car? Another Mustang GT Convertible

What car would you never, ever buy/drive? Any of the Japanese ones-Hondas, etc. No style=:-) Cars have to have style to please me.

What is your dream car?One of those rare Mustang Shelbys or a Mustang Saleen..also rare. I have seen one however. Coolness.

The Aztek? So fugly!

LilyRose 03-29-2005 03:41 PM

I drive a 2001, four door, dark green Mazda Protege.

I'm thinking my next car should be a hybrid. That came to mind yesterday when I paid $2.44/gallon for gas.

My dad tells me to never get a chevy. He's had back luck with them.

My dream car would be a 70s mustang, fuchsia colored, with black velvet interior. No. Seriously.

To me a car is a car and if it gets me from point A to point B it's good enough for me.

2004 Nissan Maxima, 2005 Ford Explorer

Yeah, I drive two cars. I love the Maxima, but its 18" wheels are not the best in the winter. An amazing autombile for the money.

I would love to drive a woodsided 1988 Dodge Caravan.

Seriously a 1968 Vette with a 4 speed and a 428 under the hood.

Acutally I wouldn't mind getting a hybrid either...I hear they're hard to get nowadays though..

Not that it matters - I'm not in the market for a car - but a hybrid would be awesome...my ex bf's mom has one

Yeah, I won't be in the market for a car for a couple of years, but I just feel that a hybrid would be better all around.

My car now is a 2001 VW Beetle and I love it!

For my next car I would love a convertible Beetle! They look so cute!

There are a few cars I would never get... the Multipla is one... ugly!

And for a dream car it would probably be an Audi convertible

Pip

amber 03-29-2005 04:42 PM

I don't have a car.
I want a convertible, a tiny one, red, black, or silver, my car has to be stick shift - like a miata, or a toyota spider, or one of those things. Of course, if I ever have the money, I have to get a hybrid. Luckily, by the time I do, they will probably make a tiny convertible one... :D

madformac 03-29-2005 04:47 PM

What kind of car/truck/etc. do you drive?
I don't drive right now.. Don't need to.

What do you want to get for your next car?
In an ideal world an Aston Martin DB9, in reality probably some kinda Ford or Vauxhall

What car would you never, ever buy/drive?
A beige Austin Metro

What is your dream car?
Ferrari 575 Maranello in titanium/cream hide or Aston DB9 in silver with black hide.

i currently drive a '97 mercury mystique. i didn't pick it out and i don't like it. when i left NYC i needed a car and i handed cash to a friend and that's what they brough me. at least it's in good shape. there's a RedSoxNation sticker on the back and a New Yorkers for Kerry sticker on the front. my plate reads FMACFAN and my anti-FM roomie just laughs at me every time she sees it.

i was rear-ended a few weeks ago and was going to spend the insurance $$$ on a new car, but instead decided to blow it on new furniture, jewelry, and a trip back to NYC.

i am looking at a pontiac vibe, i know *hayley* doesn't like them, but i think they are so hot. a few weeks ago on CarTalk, one of the guys stated that 'a honda element would benefit greatly from a roll-over.' so true!

I think you may be right about the Chevy. I have a used car and got mine first, then my friend bought a Cavalier brand new some time after, her Cavalier has already croaked, and I'm still driving my Toyota . So I would advise against a Cavalier from her experience. :distress:

If I could, I certainly would. I love the Spyder. You should get it! :blob1:  Cars are insanely expensive, aren't they? but that isn't that bad, really, relatively speaking. Sounds so cool, I love silver cars.

Edit: There are a bunch of Miatas on eBay http://search.ebay.com/miata_W0QQfso...R3QQsacatZ6001

hmm...my aunt has a little black Miata she always says she was going to leave to me when she dies....then she got diagnosed with breast cancer....but alas no car...she's in remission...

Before I sound tooooo horrible...she was the absolute WORST candidate for cancer - she milked it/is still milking it for all it's worth whilst using people and using people's sympathy to get things she wants...it's so evil.....

*sigh* I try not to think about cars right now.... :o

CreepingDeath 03-29-2005 06:00 PM

What kind of car/truck/ect. do you drive?

Currently I have a '01 black Corvette. I'm kinda sick of it though, and want to get something new.

What do you want to get for your next car?

Something way out of my budget I'm sure.

What car would you never, ever drive/buy?

A Hummer, Element, Grand Am, or a van. Boo!

What is your dream car?

A Ferrari, Aston Martin, Jaguar, Mercedes. The list goes on and on.............

Lisa1769 03-29-2005 07:31 PM

What kind of car/truck/etc. do you drive?
I drive one of those plastic SUVs......2002 Yukon Denali....White....its shorter than the xls. I love it.....when your hauling kids around and carpooling it does the job nicely!

What do you want to get for your next car?
Don't know, need to get this one paid for first.

What car would you never, ever buy/drive?
Any compact car.

What is your dream car?
69 Chevy Camero......

HomerMcvie 03-29-2005 07:40 PM

What kind of car/truck/etc. do you drive?
95 red Blazer. I was planning on getting a new one this year, but the vet bills are looking like I'll be driving it another year.(I don't NEED a new vehicle! :xoxo: ) I also have 2 U-hauls.

What do you want to get for your next car?
From above, I was PLANNING on a new Blazer, BUT, with the way gas is going, I'm thinking about keeping the one I have for bad weather, and buying a Civic or something.

What car would you never, ever buy/drive?
Ford.

What is your dream car?
Some antique car, like a Model A(yeah, I know, that's a Ford- before they sucked!)

sara1998 03-29-2005 08:26 PM

I drive a 2003 Saturn Vue. DON'T get one... whoever said they were considering it. I've had nothing but trouble with this one. But it's paid for, so I won't be getting a new one anytime soon. I can say one thing, Saturn's are damn safe. My late hubby rolled my first one 4 times and he and my lil' one came out without a scratch on them.

Dunno about the next one. I'm enjoying having one paid for!

I would never drive a hummer, or a littlel bitty car. Or a Ford. Unless it's a Mustang... then I might consider it.

My dream car? A '69 Camero. I almost bought one last year, but he wouldn't come down on the price. He wanted over $17,000, and I refused to pay that much for a 35 year old car. Sure was pretty, though......

WildInTheWind 03-29-2005 10:45 PM

I have a maroon, 96 Toyota Camary. (with a Stevie Nicks Rocks sticker on the back :D ) It's nothing fancy, but it will last forever. Or, I should say, it HAS lasted forever! I also have an 83 Fiat Spider (little red 2 door convertable sports car kinda thing). I kind of inherited it from my loser ex boyfriend. I want to sell the damn thing..I don't even know how to drive a stick!
If I could get any kind of car, it would probably be a black Lexus sudan of some sort.
Cars I would never own....most american made cars :sorry: I haven't had much luck with them. Especially my ford escort  What a piece!

Yes it works. The body is in great condition, but the interior is tour up. If you can get to St. Louis...it's yours! I'm about ready to pay someone to take the damn thing and get it out of my sight!

*drool*. crap! get to st. louis, yeah... :o it probably wouldn't survive the drive back, either... :distress: It sounds all cute and red and stick shifty, my favorite....

It is cute. But, like I said, it needs alot of work on the interior. I should really try to sell the damn thing. I doubt I could get much for it. Though it only has like 20,000 miles on it...

What! 20000 miles! and it's an 83??! Are you sure? Now I really, really want it! I don't care about the interior, I rarely clean my cars anyways.... Is it just all torn up? is there a stereo? how much is it?

WildInTheWind 03-29-2005 11:44 PM

I don't think it has a working radio. When I say the inside is tore up, I mean it's BAD. It's just a mess. You don't want a Fiat...they are no good. I don't think it's a car that's really meant to be driven. Yes it has very few miles on it. The people that bought it originally just drove it on special occasions, and then let it sit in a lot for a reeeeaaaallly long time.

Ain't that the truth. Those suckers are barfugly.

I drive a blue Beetle, I want a Honda hybrid next. I would never drive anything much bigger than a Beetle, I would never drive a disgusting SUV, and I would never drive anything green. Or a pickup truck. *shudder*

Oh, and my dream car is a tiny, tiny car. The smaller, the better.

sparky 03-29-2005 11:56 PM

What kind of car/truck/etc. do you drive?

96 Ford F 150 pickup truck. The last year with the square nose, stick shift, dual gas tank ! I love it.

What do you want to get for your next car?

Don't know. Some other truck, but they are all ugly. Next one has to have an extra cab and again, the dual tanks. But no more stick. I drive too much. The clutch is giving me foot ache. If there were a hybrid truck, I'd buy it.

What car would you never, ever buy/drive?

Any little car - I feel like I would be squashed. I feel better up high. The Hummer is also a ridiculous vehicle.

What is your dream car?

Mmm. My same truck, with 0 miles, an extra cab, and an automatic transmission.
