Question about cameras at Caesars
Is anyone planning on bringing a camera? I realize the official policy is no cameras. If you could get the camera in, would it even be possible to snap a picture at this more "refined" venue?
Just wanting some other opinions. I have pretty much decided to forget about trying myself. |
I'm going for it. The worst they can do is take it & I'll get it after the show.

My Experience
Well...just to let you guys know about my experience...I saw Elton there a while back and we were all amazed at how much they did not check us for cameras...I remember us wishing we would have brought a video camera in b/c we certainly could have...they did not even check my aunt's purse....hope this helps.

I plan on taking mine. I have a very tiny camera and I take it with me everywhere anyway. I doubt that any photos will come out good from my seat but I am still going to try. ;)
|
We were told no cameras for the Aladdin but I sneaked mine in and no-one checked my bag. Once in side security were saying we could use them but not to use the flash

on the flip side, i've been to several events where 'no cameras' was reeeally enforced. the woman seated next to me took out her snapper and it was promptly taken. she made an incredible scene but the security guards said, listen lady, it says right across your ticket 'no cameras'... it was a really nice camera too, not a disposable. i don't know if she got it back, but they did tag it with her seat number before they left.

Brett....
Nightbird..can you tell me something about the very side sections? Section 6...appears to be very far to the side..how would you say those seats are? I have a seat in the center for the 10th and am looking for the 11th so I am curious what those side sections are like.
I am bringing in my digital and if they tell me to put it away, I will. |
Friend took her camera to Celine. Security took it before they got in, but her husband didn't even attept to hide it. All they did was take the camera, put it in a locker & gave her a ticket to claim it after the show. Oh well.

 When I went to see the Mac at the MGM in July of 2003 the guard wanded my bag and it went off but all he did was ask me " if I had any weapons on me" ;) Of course I said "no not today". I had my old 35mm camera which was larger then my digital but he did not even look in my bag. When I went to my seat there was a guard right in front of me but he was very nice and told us "please no cameras" I never took it out. The weird thing is that almost every show that I went to {since I bought my tiny digital} security did not even look in bag. If you don't use a flash you are less likely to be noticed and most of the time they won't even bother you if you don't use a flash. If you have a digital you won't really need one for concert pics anyway. Ironically, I will be leaving for my new photography class in about 45 minutes. :blob1: |
I found that I would be so focused on my cameras (yes two!) that I couldn't enjoy the show, but when I don't bring them I regret it! Just plan a camera-escape route!!! Like, where can you ditch it if they catch you before the show?
Also, when using no flash, the shutter speed is slower so you have to hold it still longer than normal. This feels like an eternity and the pics can be blurry. Also also, my digital camera would focus for me (against my wishes), and the hand waving 2 rows ahead would be the clear thing in the pic, not the stage! Also also also, couldn't you hide the camera "on your person"? Like between your knockers? Or in your boot, hairdo, waistband, etc.? Also x4, I hate when a band member would see me using a flash, like right in their face. It's disrespectful and embarassing for me, but I've done it during well-lit times. This way I'm not as obvious. |

I have never had a problem with my digital. The lights on the stage are bright enough. With film it does become a problem and most of my pics were blurry. Quote:

I never ever use a flash and I don't think that Stevie likes it. |
Thanks for the info. I'll have to go look back at my photos cuz last concert I was sitting front row with the digital, I didn't need a flash. The film ones WERE BLURRY!!!

I think I'm going to try to bring in my digital camera, not because I want to take tonnes of pics at the show but because I bring it with me everywhere and I don't want it to get stolen from my hotel room! I know most hotels nowadays have safes, but even then, I'd rather keep it with me. ALthough now I'm kind of nervous! Although like someone said, the worst thing they can to is keep it until the show's over.
That being said if I DID manage to sneak it in I might be tempted to take some pics during the second half of the last song, we'll see. To sneak it in I usually just put it in my back pocket behind my wallet. Though that wouldn't do me any good if they used a metal detector! Hmmm.... |
I was also at the FM show at the MGM in Vegas and they confiscated my camera...and that was well after I went through the metal detector, thinking I'd beat the system. I got it back at the end, but I've heard horror stories of security "misplacing" confiscated items, so I'm thinking I'll try my luck with a disposable.

Don't forget Diss' tip - put it in a tampon box.

I have a digital Elph. If anyone else has this camera, can you tell me the best settings for the no flash photos? Should you change the speed or anything?? Any tips would be appreciated. I think I have now decided to try to smuggle it in.

Even if you put tampons on top, the box will be heavy from the camera.

Try and go to a male security guard. I also used a box of GasX. My camera is so small that it fits inside an Altoids tin but with my luck I will get some wise guy that will ask me for one. |

The class is at AAA. It is only $15.00 for 4 weeks. What a deal! It is very basic but that is what I wanted right now. I went tonight for the first time and I learned a lot with just the first class. First rule is don't buy a camera at a camera store! I know that now. |
If you wear flared pants and socks - you can stick the camera in a sock! Unless, of course, they are patting people down. My experience is that most places in Vegas don't pat you down or check your bag, however it doesn't hurt to have a plan B, just in case. I've also snuck in cameras under my arm, in the bra strap, just keep your arm close to your body to hide the bulge. Heh. I said "bulge."
|
I snuck cameras in last year by putting my camera in a sock (to protect it) and then strapping it to the inside of my ankle with an Ace wrap bandage. It worked like a charm. As for Vegas though, I plan to not bring one in the first show I'm going to and observing if I see people taking pictures and getting away with it. If I do, I will sneak one in to the 2nd show I'm going to. I'm going to assume though that the picture taking will be tough due to the Vegas security being what it usually is (tight).

Ace
OMIGOD...a very good friend of mine does the same exact thing with the Ace bandage. Although I think she had like a ankle brace or something. I remember standing out front of the Camden show, embroiled in ticket drama, as she pulled her pant leg up and put the thing on and hid her camera in it.
I do not think the problem in Vegas will be getting the camera in as much as it will be taking the photos. |

I have a feeling that there are going to be many people with bandages on. I can hear the rumours now that Stevie does have magical powers because everyone will be bandage free after the show. |
