Do you think Lindsey or Mick will go to one of the shows?

Wouldn't it be cool if one of us were sitting next to Mick or some other celeb that is friends with Stevie in Vegas? Apparently the front orch. seats are VIP for celebs and high rollers (mainly) so who knows who we will be rubbing elbows with!

Sorry to start a new Vegas thread- I just could not find an appropriate thread to stick this thought into.... Sorry! :)

TheMacAttack 03-22-2005 09:32 PM

Mick I see going...Linds, well maybe is K stays home with the kids...

bikerchic 03-22-2005 09:46 PM

That's what's also so cool about this show.....we'll have to be on high alert for celebrity sightings!

What about the mega Vegas thread that is currently about 325 pages long?

I think it's a definitely that all Stevie's friends and exes will be there, including Mick and Lindsey (and the rugrats, possibly, as well... they seem to be acclimated to the noise of concerts after all the ones they were on stage for this year)

I am sure those of you who will going will see a lot of famous faces in the audience.

Maybe... but I don't care if friggin Tom Cruise is sitting next to me- my eyes will be on Stevie all night!

diamondsnake 03-22-2005 10:02 PM

I don't think Lindsey is as happy for Stevie (and all her success) as she is for him. I remember reading something where Stevie was all excited to give Lindsey a copy of TISL and then he didn't even open the CD for like a year. Maybe that is just a rumour, does anyone know anything about that?

He just doesn't seem to like Stevie the way she adores him. I think he is jealous her in a way... so even if he is invited by Stevie- he may not go to the show.

You're thinking of the story of Bella Donna. Lindsey heard Trouble In Shangri-La and congratulated Stevie on what he said was the best work she's done yet. He also played guitar on 'I Miss You'.

It takes me a year just to get that damn sticky plastic off the CD.

I don't think he's seen her more than once or twice total. Maybe it's because he doesn't like her albums.

Undoubtedly carefully comparing & contrasting the work with "The Wild Heart," "The Other Side of the Mirror," "Rock a Little" & "Street Angel"!

(In fact, after listening to "Greta," Lindsey was overheard to have said, "Gosh . . . hmmm . . . that's . . . what's next?")

Lindsey is probably as familiar with Stevie's solo albums as Stevie is with, say, Peter Green's "The End of the Game" or "White Sky."

I think he wants the mainstream success that Stevie has had with her solo career. His solo albums never end up seeing the light of day half the time. So he, most likely, can only be so happy about her solo records receiving so much hype.

I agree with Lindsey... TISL is Stevie's best work.

As far as BD goes, what happened? Did he just never listen to the record when she sent him a copy?

I agree. I thought he was over it by now, but maybe he isn't. Evidence bieng, how Stevie said that Lindsey asked her to tone her outfits down for the mac shows. Course, that's Stevie saying that, but if it's true...
Sesly, I would think he'd have contained his jealousy by now, but I don't know. I would hope he's not, and would rather give him the benefit of the doubt...

You can probably find the interview on the Nicksfix. As I recall, she gave him the acetate one day when he was working in the studio, and he just left it leaning against a console or something and never took it home.

You'd think he'd have probably listened to it by now, though. :o You know, he's probably heard "Edge" and "SDMHA" and Leather and Lace somewhere... :D

Even if he didn't, it's unlikely he could have missed hearing it on the radio.

To him, he could have said it in a completely offhand way and she could have taken it differently. The exchanges between them in the Destiny Rules doc are either somewhat cautious or completely filled with tension.
While I think they may have been "blissed out" :p by all the healing going on around the time of The Dance, I don't think their relationship has really changed all that much in the past 25 or so years.

yeah...I agree...but I hope it would've changed...you know, the main problem of Linds being bitchy and jealous? And also Stevie being defensive about him trying to help her? But, seriously, I would so much hope that Linds has no jealousy left, because that is the most acid emotion, IMO.

MacMan 03-22-2005 11:43 PM

I think if anyone is going to show up for this show, it will probably be on opening night... or closing night. Especially those in the FM camp. But then again, they may want to avoid the obvious and not be bothered with what ever press might be there and show up on the second or third night..

So you're saying they'll either be there Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday or Saturday if they go. Gotcha!

I think that it would be very likely that Mick and Lindsey would be at one of the shows. I was just talking about that today, actually.

I would not be surprised if there are other famous people at some of the shows, too. Just who is the question. I guess it just depends on who will be in Vegas at that time. You never know.

sparky 03-23-2005 01:13 AM

Mick is so there. Lindsey, so NOT.

Vegas

Mick I say definately.
Lindsey? Not sure. I am not convinced he is all that thrilled with her solo career, even though it IS 25 years later. I also just cannot see him digging the Vegas showgirl routine. In fact, the idea probably turns his stomach. He might see the benefit of Stevie having a place to perform as she gets older, without having to travel and an easy way to make money but I am sure he can't get over the apparent commerciality of this gig.

I thought the clothing comment was kind of odd and ya'll could be right that Stevie interpreted the comment in a way it was not meant. It does strike me as odd that he would still be jealous of what the hell she is wearing. Telling her to not wear anything too tight? Whatever their relationship is, it is difficult to understand. I don't think the shipper's have it all right and I don't think the shipper haters have it all right. It seems sort of undefinable...at least to me.

I think what he doesn't dig about her solo career is her music. If he had never even met Stevie or worked in a band with her, would he be a Stevie Nicks fan? No way. It's not his cup of tea. She doesn't dig a lot of his music, either -- she has said so (although she loves some of it very much).

I don't think she ever saw him play on his solo tour, although Christine allegedly did (& caused some sort of scene, according to a bystander).

If Lindsey sees Stevie play in Vegas, it would just be a backstage sort of thing, imo, sort of a congratulatory sort of thing. He wouldn't sit out there in front listening to her & her band perform "How Still My Love" or whatever. 'Tain't his thing.

She's not my favorite but is one of the best pop stars today. I think she just doesn't bring the personality or special touch to her songs (which are complete Adult Contemp!) that Stevie does. Her voice is nothing special and her dancing is cringe worthy. That being said, she did do a nice job with Stevie on TISL and the Practical Magic soundtrack.

Stevie's not "Adult Contemp"? Sheryl's a dancer?

Fall From Grace is AC? TISL (the song) and POTU is adult contemp? Smile at You, illume, RTTG, EFO? Those are rock and roll songs in my book. Of course she always has a few AC songs on each record (Everyday/SYW) to release as singles but she is a rock and roller not a Clay Aiken or a Celine Dion 100% Adult Contemp. Artist.

And When Sheryl dances around at her microphone with her guitar it is very subtle but bugs me sooooo much. I just don't like when she does that! Maybe the same way some people hate Stevie's air guitar and air drums (all love that about Stevie but others can't stand it)

While I think all of the aforementioned songs are amazing, they are considered to be Adult Contemporary and are listed as such on the charts.

Wait... how? None of those songs (sans POTU which was listed as a club/dance song) were singles so they weren't listed on the charts to my knowledge.

I guess what I am trying to say is that a song like Edge of Seventeen has a lot more depth/rock and roll flair then Soak Up the Sun.

Whereas I see songs like Redemption Day and Member's Only having more depth than Edge of Seventeen. Comparing Soak Up the Sun to Edge of Seventeen is like comparing Murrow to I Like Big Butts. It's not really fair to compare their songs because Stevie writes from a purely emotional standpoint about what love and pain, etc., while Sheryl writes from more of an observational standpoint regarding society in many of her songs.

C'mon C'mon sucked donkey balls, though, I'll give that one to you. But if I were you were, I surely wouldn't judge her as "pop" or as not having any depth based on that album.

I really only have Sheryl's "Very Best of" album and comparing that to Stevie's Timespace "Very Best of" album, Stevie has a lot more substance, but I guess I can't give a fair analyses since I'm absolutely in love with Stevie Nicks and really don't know much about Sheryl Crow.

Well, that sucks because "The Very Best of Sheryl Crow" is "The Most Mediocre of Sheryl Crow," in my opinion. That album just has the crappy singles and not the great album stuff. Though A Change, Home, There Goes the Neighborhood, and I Shall Believe from it have just as much substance to them as anything Stevie has written, in my eyes.

Words cannot describe my disgust for The First Cut Is the Deepest, though, that sucker is garbage.

Safe and Sound is one of my favorite Sheryl songs, and it's spectacular live! :D
