stevie lyrics referencing water and rain
In a fit of genius, Cliffdweller thought of the idea of listing our favorite lyrics with reference to water or rain. BRILLIANT!!!
Here goes... Come on now, let the sad winds blow down, As the RAIN came, she refused to wear her coat (paper doll) Ooh... I'm going out in the rain without a coat too! Just watch me! |
"And the rain comes down
There's no pain and there's no doubt" from HAEWAFY "The sea never changes, not really" from "Bombay Sapphires" "...Through the crystal-like clear water fountain/Drove me like a magnet/to the sea" from "Crystal" And, of course, "Storms" and "Outside the Rain"--two of her very best  :) |
...you fill the room with the wind and the rain and the WATER!!!!!
|
Well done Hillary!
|
Um, thunder only happens when it's raining?
I'll try to come up with something a bit more obscure |

"I'll do it!!! I will!!" By the way, I submit it would be more of a challenge to find Stevie songs without one of those things in it... |

"The clouds never expect it when it rains, but the sea changes colors... but the sea does not change....." Mmmkay, I love this song. LOVE it!!! But it just occurred to me that those lyrics also quite possibly qualify for the "worst lyrics evah" thread! "But the sea....but the sea....but the sea....but the sea.... |

"Well, open up the window...and listen to the rain"
"I like the way the ocean blends into the city at night" "Fire on fire, rain on my face" |
"Never have I been a blue-calm sea...I have always been a storm"
"Drowning... in the sea of love... where everyone loves to drown" "she fell through the ivory morning...deep into the waters of the one she called love" "you fill the room with the wind and the rain and the water" "And the rain was there..." "Fire on fire...rain on my face" |
"I turned around and the water was closing around me."
One of my all time favorite Stevie lyrics. |
okay well, i have to do this one...
I like the coastal cities, I like the lights, I like the way the city blends into the ocean at night It's like living on a working river The coast line is glittering Like a diamond snake in a black sky Or as Dissention would say, Like a one eyed snake in a black sky or as I said Like a one eyed snake on a black guy. |

Yeah, me too...that's why I didn't put it there! Ah, and you wouldn't find an answer...you'd just HEAR THE CALL OF A NIGHTBIRD...! Ahem...but....if the sea changes colors...then...doesn't it change? ;) |

Hey, that totally led to this little gem! Still through the sunlight days I wait Track a ghost through the fog The sun is burning me And you come running out in the wind with me The ocean is your blanket |

When the rain washes you clean you'll know.
The sea never changes, not really. Ooh outside my frost covered windows. Can I sail through the changing ocean tides? |
And if you see my reflection in the snoooooooooooooooooooow...
(mega long pause) covahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhed hills Well maybehhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.... (another mega long pause) the landslide will bring it down Well, well, the landslide will bring it down (and she goes in for another quick shoulder rub for Lindsey) Snow melts into water, so I figure it works! |

Sweet Girl
Oh My Gosh..that line from Sweet Girl is my favorite!! The imagery it conjures up in my mind is so gorgeous and no one can do that to me except Stevie.
What I like about the rain and water references is that she is consistent when she uses them. I like how she uses them to describe certain emotions or certain feelings. The way she says "the ocean is your blanket" makes it seem like the water is their protection, the ocean will keep them safe and warm. Makes no sense, I know but that is Stevie. It is sort of interesting how she has always used certain words and phrases to describe feelings and people and continues to use them. Fire..rain..dreams...wind..colors...beauty At least imo, alot of the time, when she choses to use these words..she is referencing the same feelings or even the same person. Not all the time, but quite often. Take Mick for example. I think she uses the word beauty to refer to him or her feelings for him. (not just in BatB) Lindsey..dreams and rain. (plus many more) Fire...of course she uses it to describe the intensity of a feeling, the burning passion etc but also danger. Point is..I like how she has remained fairly consistent over the years with her choices. She has a way of expressing herself like no one else. "fire on fire, rain on my face..fever goes higher..what can you do, Wild in the darkest places of my mind..thats where I needed you. The way she can just take you right in and get you to basically feel what she is feeling amazes me and there are not many other artists who can do that for me. |

"I turned around and the water was closing all around"
"Drove me like a magnet To the sea...." "I like the coastal cities I like the lights... I like the way the ocean blends Into the city at night Like living on a working river This coastline is glittering Like a diamond snake In a black sky" For Diss: "ooooh it's just like a river it's neverending" ;) "Outside the rain and the heart skips a beat." "Drowning in the sea of love Where everyone would love to drown" "But never have I been a blue calm sea I have always been a storm" "Just like the sea, I rock a little." "Standing...in the doorway Watching out to sea Calling out to me" "I run through the grass I run over the stones Show me the way back...to the sea" "And the clouds never expect it when it rains but the sea, changes color, but the sea does not change" Edit: I just noticed my sig applies too! |
