Journey Gets Star on Walk of Fame
Journey Gets Star on Walk of Fame
Sat Jan 22, 5:01 PM ET Entertainment - AP Music LOS ANGELES - Journey, the power ballad rock group that dominated the charts in the 1980s, stopped traffic on a stretch of Hollywood when hundreds of fans turned out to see the band unveil its own Hollywood Walk of Fame star. Present at the sidewalk ceremony were guitarist Neal Schon and bassist Ross Valory, who were in the group's original 1973 lineup, as well as keyboardist Jonathan Cain, drummer Deen Castronovo and lead singer Steve Augeri (news), who replaced Steve Perry (news) in the mid-1990s. "Who could have imagined, so many years later, a star on the Walk of Fame," he said. Schon then thanked fans for nominating the band for the sidewalk tribute. Perry, who was not scheduled to appear, showed up on his own, organizers said. "No one ever mentions the unsung heroes, the road crew who ... made us look good," he said. Over a 30-year period, Journey released 18 albums, selling 50 million copies on the strength of radio hits such as "Don't Stop Believin'," "Who's Crying Now," and "Open Arms," which were fueled by Perry's operatic, high-flying vocal style. The group, which last released a studio album in 2001, was scheduled to mark the occasion with a performance in Hollywood later Friday. Pictures of the event are available at the following link: http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmp...3334443005.jpg --------------------------------------------------- Okay, Here's my question, Why was it that when Fleetwood Mac received their star all the former members werent invited to the ceremony? Seems almost all the past Journey members appearred. |
I'm suprised they didn't get one before...you know, back in the day?

That's awesome! Ok, now Boston..... ya see this? YOU SHOULD DO IT! In 25 years you'll be luck if you have fans :(
But neways... Glad to see some more stadium bands get recognition! |
I'm so glad Steve Perry showed up. :)

Sweet. "City" was one of my songs with my ex. He made a series of "Attitude Adjustment" tapes and this was on our favorite one. I love Journey, and I don't have any of their stuff. That's gotta change.

Yay!
Congrats to Journey!! Glad that Steve Perry was there. They are one of my faves. :)

Next to Fleetwood Mac and Queen...Journey was one of my favorites when I became one of the record buying public at age 12!
I saw the latest evolution of Journey this past September and they were great and I can't wait to see them this summer! I was so glad Steve Perry showed up as I guess he heard Neal Schon on a radio program stating he hoped Steve would come. I was surprised that everyone was there from previous line ups except for one missing Journeyman Greg Rolie! I wonder why he wasn't there as he was a big part of the band even selecting his replacement . |

I hate all those arena rock bands from the '70s/'80s...Foreigner, Journey, Boston, Kansas, REO Speedwagon, Chicago, etc. The caterwauling male vocalists with the crispy hair and the tight jeans, the loud, cloying, obnoxious guitar solos...ick, ick, ick. |

I will never not be happy when Wheel in the Sky comes on, that's all I can say... :D and i believe Dust in the Wind was one of my first favorite songs... :p |
