Well, we are going to get a blizzard

Here in RI from what the weather people are predicting. I hope that we don't get it but I guess we will find out tonight.

This is on my AOL weather forecast:
!!! Weather Alert !!!BLIZZARD WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 5 PM THIS AFTERNOON TO 6 PM EST SUNDAY

How's the weather where everyone else is?

Merf 01-22-2005 07:24 AM

Fricking cold. We're going to be getting a "wintry mix"/cold rain today. At least it's warmed up a bit since Monday morning when it was 12 degrees outside -_-

GardenStateGirlie 01-22-2005 08:17 AM

It's 11 degrees here and we're more than likely being put under a state of emergency. I'm supposed to be at work right now. I feel bad for shafting my coworkers but the two that are in with me today live down the road and I don't. All of our service providers have called out and I can tell it's going to be a big mess over there but i'm not driving up there only to drive back here an hour later. I'm not around the corner and take a highway to get there. I had to drive through snow on Wednesday night and it did not go well (couldn't see a damn thing) and today, it's supposed to start snowing in about an hour or two. We're in for 12-14" and evidently, 8" will be covering New Jersey by 2pm. Thusly, sorry about your luck, kids. I'm staying home.

Well at least they put you in a state of emergency. Our lovely Governer has no clue what that is and if it is still bad on Monday I won't be going to work.
Missing work makes you feel guilty but it's better then putting your life at risk.

I am going to go out in about an hour and stock up on a few things. I still have some Camden photos that I never posted so I am editing them to post later.

Jersey girls

Hey I shafted the coworkers too. I am scheduled to work 3-12 tonight and the husband said 'no way'. I have to drive eight miles on highways and my grandparents own the place. I am staying home. I just hate driving in the snow anyway and to drive home at 12:30 AM on unplowed roads, um, no thanks.
With the Eagles big game tomorrow, the restaurant will be packed but ah well. Hopefully I can get there tomorrow night but I will not hestitate to stay home if the roads are still bad. Fire me.

If there is a State of Emergency doesn't that mean that you don't have to go to work? Unless you work in like the medical profession.
Stay home. Smart Idea.

I guess that there is no happy medium. We freeze here and you fry down under. Is anyone having perfect weather? If you are I hate you. :p

There's only two of them there. I was on the phone with her this morning (i.e. 7:30) and most of the calls will be people cancelling but since a ton of stylists and nail techs, etc. called out, their books have to be called and appointments need to be rescheduled which sucks. Ah..what can you do. No way i'm driving on 295 in the mess we're getting. Local news says 16+ now. If it's as bad as they're predicting, perhaps people won't come out tomorrow (that was a total joke...you know they'll risk their lives to watch the Eagles tomorrow).

Pattie, they haven't put us under one yet but they were discussing it on the news. More than likely they will.

generating envy here in CA

I live at 3000ft, skies were blue and temps were 65degrees yesterday (thats Fahrenheit not Celsius)and down the hill from me, it was 42 degrees and foggy
I expect more of the same today. I LOVE California. ps: we already HAD some nasty weather, got snow in my neck of the woods and flooding down south in LA area....

Grass is green and coming up nicely, and soon the trees will be budding....

GateandGarden 01-22-2005 09:41 AM

It's in the low 60s down here. Cold for us.

I don't share your enthusiasm Jimmy. I *despise* snow. And 20" of it makes it even more unbearable. :(

GardenStateGirlie 01-22-2005 10:05 AM

ANNNNDDDD here comes the snow. Welcome to 2" per hour of hell, kids.

When will it end? I usually love snow, but not this year. Between the wet, heavy snow and the arctic cold, I'm all wintered out. Boohoo.

At least you get plowed out...I have to shovel a double long, double wide driveway. :distress:

The plow truck plows all of the snow into the cars and we have to dig ourselves out.

But I certainly don't envy you, though.

Oh, it's beautiful here when it snows but I just don't like having to drive in it (and it looks like i'm not today and my decision to skip work and not go in at 9 was a good one  )

StevieNicksEO17 01-22-2005 11:21 AM

I definitely don't envy you, Lux. I am much better suited for snow & cold than for heat and humidity. It is dreadful down here during the summer. :distress:

estranged4life 01-22-2005 01:14 PM

Well...

It was 70 yesterday, The temp won't make it above 40 today...Supposed to be in the single digits tonight.

The temp will be back in the 60's next week, So I can't wait.

I wished if it is goin' to be cold that it would stay cold, And the same for when it warms up.

Kelly 01-22-2005 03:34 PM

heat

I definately do not like the humidity either but this snow sucks. Riss is right up the road and we have about six inches now at 3:30pm. Post another picture!
Get this . I went to Hollywood video to rent something to watch while I am stuck in the house for the next few days. There was a sign on the door that said "the wait for checkout is an hour". An HOUR?!? At the video store??
After scanning the empty shelves, I decided to just watch tv or use the computer. The line wrapped around the entire store. :> ( Can you imagine?!?
Line at the grocery store was just as bad.

Here in central NJ we already have a sh*tload of snow and it's still coming. In awhile we are attempting to walk w/ the kids and some neighbors a nearby Applebee's..

I think they are all insane and may still bail and stay home w/ Benjamin, as he also hates the cold!

My daughter HAD to go out in it. She fell once, got snow on her hands, and that was it! Poor thing!

Well the blizzard is missing us - but we're getting lots of Lake Effect Snow this weekend...I couldn't open my front door this morning because the snow was piled in front of it - where it's not been plowed at all the snow is already knee deep for me...:]

The other one is my backyard - both of these taken about 1/2 hour ago - it's still coming down...

I know you guys are bummed, but that looks sooooo pretty! :D thanks for sharing the pics. It's all sunny here today. It's cold, though, about 50.
