Popular bands you never were crazy about...
Not that I hate but... I never got crazy about Yes or The Who, not my style I think
And I liked Stairway to Heaven and Love Hurts but.. never a fan of Led Z. Neither Spice Girls, I loved to dance their songs but.. didn't look for them on the radio. |
QUEEN. I never saw what the big deal was with Queen. I guess they're ok or whatever, but not *AMAZING*.
|
Pretty much all of them in the music world today lol..I hate rap/hip-hop - and it seems to be dominating right now....
Never been a fan of the boy bands (except for New Kids  ) Also I've never really liked the Rolling Stones. |
Motley Crue. Just too gross for me!
|
Green Day (oy, they annoy the **** out of me)
Blink 182 (ditto) Good Charlotte (if I hear one person tell me how amazing they are, I'm going to slit my wrists) The Eagles (my mother drove me nuts with them as a child) Rod Stewart (good gracious!) Queen (to say that Mercury had one helluva voice is an understatement, but the music itself just did nothing for me) The Rolling Stones (used to love them, but then realized that they haven't done anything worthwhile in years) |
The Who
Kiss Rolling Stones (I'm getting a little more into them now, though) Duran Duran U2 (until about 3 or 4 years ago) |
-U2
-The Beatles -The Who -Nirvana -Led Zep -GNR -Rolling Stones -Queen -Blondie |
Ditto....

That frontman of theirs makes me cringe. He's bloody awful. |
Oh - that's how I feel about Evanescence - don't know why - I HATE Them...so many people though are like.."Oh man - they're awesome..." They're SO not my cup of tea...
|
The Eagles
Duran Duran Blondie Boy bands Who (with the exception of Tommy) Genesis (without Peter Gabriel) Romy |
The Beatles
Jimi Hendrix Led Zeppelin Neil Young (although, I like Harvest, and some of his other countryish stuff) Kiss Queen Boston Kansas Foreigner Journey Chicago (pretty much all of those arena rock bands from the '70s/early '80s) David Bowie Pink Floyd Guns N Roses Metallica (pretty much all hair metal bands from the '80s/early '90s) Nirvana (pretty much all those loud, angsty grunge bands from the '90s) Sly & the Family Stone George Clinton (pretty much all funk music from the '70s) Mariah Carey Celine Dion Patti LaBelle Donna Summer Kylie Minogue (pretty much all caterwauling divas...and disco...I hate disco...or any music that has a pulsating beat, really) Teen Pop (boy bands from any decade, Britney, Debbie Gibson, etc.) Contemporary Country "Smooth" Jazz/New Age music (Enya, Dave Koz, Kenny G, etc) Hmm...did I leave anything out? |

Dang..
Mark, what music DO you like? LOL
|

There's a lot that I like, actually. :) I like a lot of old country and bluegrass, country-rock from the '70s (The Eagles, Gram Parsons...some more recent, too...I love Wilco's first two albums :D), '70s singer-songwriter music (Joni, James Taylor, et al), blues, and jazz. I also like what might be termed "adult alternative" (Sheryl Crow-type stuff). |
What?

QUEEN is wonderful! And their music... The Prophet song, Mustafa, Spread your Wings, I'm going slightly mad, Bohemian Rhapsody, Somebody to love, etc...!!! I love Queen, it was my first option until I met the mac... Anyway, nothing is written about tastes. That's the world we live, different colors, different tastes.. |
Oh boy...
opening a can of worms here...
Blondie (Not a fan, But I do respect them) The Go-Go's Culture Club Black Sabbath (Only with Ozzy Osbourne as the singer...Never cared for the Ozzy led Sabbath) Sheryl Crow Any pop singer (I was raised that if you CANNOT pick up a guitar and AT LEAST strum along to a song that you sing you are NOT a musician!!!) Any pop/punk band (Truckers hats & low strung guitars dont equal punk...It does equal "weak pretender"!) EVERY NU-METAL BAND!!! (As someone once sang "The Trend is Dead...") Evanescence (Amy Lee can sing, but the backing musicians need lessons badly!) Ick & Bitch (I mean Big & Rich...Sorry dudes, You are considered the biggest joke in country music. Your on par with a fictional band Spinal Tap, The only thing is everyone knew Spinal tap was a fictional band!) Merle Haggard (I laugh at HOW MANY tards assume he lived in Muskogee because of his abomination song about my hometown, He NEVER did!...Hey Merle, Has anymore of the jets ya own crashed with loads of cocaine aboard??? Go f**k yourself ok?) Garth Brooks (Sorry Garth...Your hometown of Yukon is to country music is what the KKK is to gansta rap! The only cows there are the ones who shop at Wal-Mart!) Any person who appears on "American Idotic & Tone Deaf Idol" who sings...Sorry folks, Go earn it the hard way by establishing yourself the hard way by WORKING FOR IT (Playing clubs & paying yer dues)...Don't let a bunch of asstard "never-was" judges stand in your way! |

If you do trade for those boots, maybe they'll change your mind. :xoxo: That's how I feel about Queen, though. They're f*cking fabulous, there's no denying it, but they just never "grabbed" me like other bands. Mercury does have one of the most incredible voices I've ever heard, though. That man was otherworldly, it's spooky. |
Ya know - I've owned No Exit since the year it came out - I had someone buy it for me for the Songs Maria and the live Rapture...
Only recently after your breakdown of it and your discussions on Blondie have I listened to the whole thing...and I LOVE it!! Thanks Diss - I had a great cd already in my collection :blob1: |
I never got into New Kids On the Block.
|
I will be trading for 'em...

Plus I know y'all like 'em and I dont mind sharing music...Blondie's just not my cup of tea, But as I said, I do respect 'em and I think Debby Harry is sexy as hell. |

No Exit is one of my favorite albums from anyone. Everything about it is superb, from the writing to the vocals to the mixing to the production; it's just chillingly good. And it has such a sense of fun to it all, it puts me in a good mood right away. Any favorite tracks? :D |
I have...

There will never be another vocalist on par with Farooq "Freddie Mercury" Bulsara in this lifetime! |

Drop me a line when you feel like trading... :wavey: |

The Coolio one was really hard for me to get into because I'm not a Coolio fan - but I've actually enjoyed that song a lot too  I'll let you know as I listen to it more  |

No Exit (the song) took me forever to get into because of Coolio, but I ended up loving it after hearing the live versions with only Debbie. And since you're terrible at song titles, my favorite tracks are 2, 5, 8, 9, and 14. Some of their best songs EVER. |
It's disheartening, how many Blondie's are on these lists. :(
About Queen ~ I do like Radio Gaga, but that's about it. |

I think if you saw my music collection, you would chuckle. It's all cheese. Thank goodness I'm not lactose intolerate. :D |

I could never get into Rage Against the Machine or the Red Hot Chili Peppers...
|

Also, I never got into Led Zeppelin, Queen, Boston, U2, ANY bubble gum pop like Brittany Spears, Ashlee Simpson, Debbie Gibson, New Kids on the Block, etc. (I didn't like it as a young person, and I don't like it now.), or Nirvana. I guess I just never saw all the fuss about any of these people. |
The first band that I can think of is U2. I like maybe a few songs by them but I can't see any big deal about them.
It seems that so many Mac fans love them but I am not one of them. I am not really a fan of The Rolling Stones. Pink Floyd, or The Who either. Oh I know Bruce Springteen and the E Street Band. I never got into 'The Boss" too much. |

I never got into any of the boy bands like New Kids, Backstreet Boys, or N'Sync, thank god. I never really liked much mainstream pop music either. I was more into heavy metal but I didn't like some of the really poppy metal bands like Winger and KISS.
|
These will get some screams:
Bob Dylan (over rated and voice annoys me) Janice Joplin (annoying) Later beatles stuff (eh) John Lennon (Basic Cult figure, I find kinda bland) Any Heavy metal bands from 80's (some of the guitarists are good, but mostly just noise) Whiney, twangy country (especially if they feel they have to "talk" in the song) Any Rap/Hip-Hop - They don't play instruments so just bad poetry and stolen samples. CAN"T STAND ENIMEM. Haven't watched MTV for over a decade - can't stand the music (Could go on for pages...but won't) Nirvanna - mostly crud, over rated. and Cobain was NOT the voice of a generation. Use to like Sting - then I met him in person and he is such a piece of work, can't listen to him anymore. Babs Streisand - Another nut case. Her exploits in person should have comitted her KISS - Gene Simmons is a bigger horses A** Than sting (if that is possible) Gun and Roses - Axel - another major horse pucky. His ego destroyed that band The rico Sauve guy...I think that needs no further explanantion I will think up some more, those came to mind first |
Quote:
Did you meet Gene Simmons too? He gives me the willies, eww. He will be the next celebrity Judge on American Idol. |
Quote:
I use to work in the recording industry and met Stink ...er Sting backstage one night. He was one of the most arrogant little men I have ever met. He treated his staff like crap and was acting hollier than though. (I think there was a thread on here sometime ago with a few other ledgies who met him also and had the same experience...so wasn't an isolated case). I managed to piss him off by just ignoring him and not caring or smoozing with him. I had more fun talking to the roadies. If I had to choose the biggest A**Hole in music, it would have to be Gene Simmons. He is under the impression that every women in the world wants to sleep with him, and that if they don't, they are Lesbians or soon to be Lesbians. He did an NPR interview on FreshAir promoting his book and was such the piece of crap to Terry Gross. She has done literally hundreds if not thousands of interviews with almost everyone famous at one time or another. (She knows what she is doing) and he kept saying she wanted to sleep with him, and she wasn't having any part of it. That had to be the nightmare interview from hell. Everytime I have seen him in anything he is an A**Hole. Was in the same room as him at a function, didn't want to meet him, and didn't care. He acted like an idiot, and managed to piss off a few people. He reminds me of that Guy "The BRAd" in the TV commercial. Thinks he is god's gift to the world. |
