Best Live Stevie Song not Written by Stevie

What is the best song that Stevie has performed live, but did not write?

My vote: "Insider" and "At Last".

ontheEdgeof17 01-11-2005 11:29 PM

Talk to Me was always good live. I agree with you about At Last.

Harmony wise she kicks ass on Second Hand News.

amber 01-11-2005 11:31 PM

Nothing beats Insider, Live. Nothing!!!

GateandGarden 01-11-2005 11:31 PM

Maybe "I Need to Know." I love that one.

Ditto on Insider and At Last. I am still blown away everytime I hear her version of At Last. Her voice is so strong and she nails it.

Strong Enough with Miss Crow was HOTTTTTTTTTTTTT.

I like the way Stevie does it, but I like it a lot better when someone does it and hits the high note at the end. She just chooses not to include the high note. (Not that I can blame her; it sounds all screechy whenever I do it) I prefer a bluesy/jazzy voice to a rock voice on that song, really.

The best thing is that this song, sounds SO STEVIE. Even though Petty wrote it, I could imagine Stevie writing this. All the imagery is there!

yes! I think that all the time. It's almost like they mixed heads to write it.. :p
It's a little Stevie, a little Tom...

Her version of "At Last" would be the perfect song to dance to at a wedding. If that every happens for me . . . LOL!

Mad4stevie 01-11-2005 11:49 PM

I don't have a good clear version of "Sunday Kind of Love", so I can't really compare that one.

This rocked on the Belladonna video! I loved how she sang the first line about "going solo". :D ROCK ON STEVIE!

Moony 01-12-2005 01:03 AM

Definitely Insider (thanks amber & mikki for getting me into this one!) & I Need to Know!!!

I really really love At Last too. :D

Speaking of Crow, I love their colaboration on that song "C'mon, C'mon," I doubt it's ever been done live though. I also like it when they do "Difficult Kind" together, I think I've seen them do that live before.

If it's Stevie on her own then I'd have to say "I Need to Know." She rocks that song.

I think they did it twice. Here...

Sheryl Crow-VH1 Making Some Noise
Breast Cancer Concert
March 6, 2002

1. Everyday Is A Winding Road
2. Soak Up The Sun
3. All I Wanna Do
4. Steve McQueen
5. Sorcerer- Stevie Nicks
6. C'mon C'mon-with Stevie Nicks
7. There Goes The Neighborhood
8. Safe And Sound

and they also did it on Leno with Natalie Maines.

Help, Indeed! *geesh* Tell me if Mad4Stevie doesn't work out, because, if you don't have Insider, Live, you don't have nothing at all... :D Although, I've never heard her do "At Last" but that's totally different. It's not the strange masterpiece of harmony that Insider, Live is...

Preach on sista.......The opening cords....the roar of the crowd.....the keyboard starts in....tom and stevie sing........OMG.....brings a tear to my eye. It really does. It's so pretty. PERFECTION.

I Need To Know and Ebony Eyes (California Jam performance with Bob Welch).

dissention 01-12-2005 01:22 PM

Needles and Pins. Pure rock energy from her and Petty.

You should hear the copy I have of When Sunny Gets Blue, it's unlistenable. VERY bad quality, almost as bad as the What About Love performance with Heart and Grace Slick.

I like At Last, even if she didn't do it any justice whatsoever, but I cry when I hear Sunday Kind of Love. Please stop doing Etta, Stevie. I saw Etta do SKOL and At Last at a free concert in Hartford two years ago and she's still magnificent. That voice is golden.

You're welcome!

This live version is way more kick a$$ than the solo video version, IMO. Stevie appears very much out of it in the video . . .
