Tsunami Support
On Wednesday, January 5, 2005, CHUM radio and affiliates partnered with the Canadian Red Cross for a one-day national media blitz to raise critical funds to aid relief efforts for tsunami survivors. When radio personality Marilyn Denis mentioned the telethon, Stevie called from Hawaii donated $25,000 to the cause.

There's a "1 Italian Lover + 1 Waterbed, equals" joke in there somewhere, but my head's too foggy from cold medicine to formulate it. :o

Good for her. :woohoo:

Thanks. :) It's a pretty nasty head-cold/sinus infection kind of thing, but I'm lucky that's all it is... my brother had/has the flu. :distress:

What a sweetheart! Thank you Stevie.

I think we can officially add "tsunami" to the list of words that should never be in a song, right behind "chimpanzee" and "nag champa".

Hummm...

I know any contribution is good and welcome, but... I expected she could give more than 25k. I have no idea how wealthy is Stevie, but being single, not a family to mantain, and after 2 consecutive tours, plus all those records.. I don't know. I guess she is very wealthy, but again, maybe I'm wrong.

Maybe it's because I read Sandra Bullock gave a million. Ok, I'm not saying Stevie should give a million, that's a looot of money. But, I still think 25k is not big deal.

The fact she gave 25k is a big deal. She didn't have to give anything, but she did. :)

That just makes me love Stevie even more... :blob1: :blob2:

Johnny Stew 01-07-2005 06:17 PM

It's also possible that she had already made another donation to aid the Tsunami victims, outside of this phone-in donation to the Canadian Red Cross.

But, even if she hasn't, a quarter of a million dollars isn't anything to sneeze at! :)

Hon, a quarter of a million is $250,000...put the medicine down, step away from the medication.

Ha. No one's face is more honest than mine, much to my chagrin. I think they're shocked by the abrupt, inexplicable change of mood/personality... whatever, my face always confuses people...they always think i'm thinking something i'm not thinking, or mean something i didn't mean.

Violet 01-07-2005 08:44 PM

Very cool that she donated, no matter what amount. WTG, Stevie!
