Since the Fleetwood Mac tour ended in September, Lindsey has been working on a new project. We received this update from Lindsey:

"It was great to see everyone out on the road this last year. I'm feeling more creative than ever right now, and I’m working on a new solo project which I expect to have out sometime this year. Thanks for your support!"

It's in writing. He better keep his word, this time.

It does make me happy to know he is alive and working on material. :)

Great! I eagerly look forward to reviewing this new music with the rest of you ledgies in 2009, after it's leaked to the Internet!

Serrart 01-01-2005 07:55 PM

David, not chances at all to have the album during 2005, in your opinion?

Romy

gldstwmn 01-01-2005 08:07 PM

How sweet! I really hope it's soon.

WelshWitchPMD 01-01-2005 08:11 PM

Yeah OK Lindsey, I'll believe it when I see it.

This is basically what he told me in September. I just hope that 2005 is a Lindsey filled year! :xoxo:

I have a few frequent flyer vouchers that I need to use this year. ;)

Romy, sure there's a chance it'll arrive in 2005. Heck, there's a chance it'll arrive at the end of next week! That comes from my (brief) study of statistics in college!

hahahahaha

exactly!

DownOnRodeo 01-01-2005 10:01 PM

Woohoo. Hopefully this wasn't a drunken New Years Resolution!

Vianna 01-01-2005 11:31 PM

Great news! Given his past history though, I doubt we'll see it this year=:-)

My thoughts exactly. I think pigs have a better chance of flying unless Lindsey's finally given up hope on Warner Brothers and realizes that if this is ever going to be released, he has to do it on his own. That would be soooooo great

estranged4life 01-01-2005 11:41 PM

Well...

I will believe it when I see it Axl...Oops, I meant Lindsey

Jason T. 01-01-2005 11:44 PM

This is great! I'm really looking forward to it. I hope that Lindsey isn't the only one to release a new solo album... *cough*Stevie*cough*

Regina 01-02-2005 12:01 AM

Like Pattie...

I'm one of the ones who heard those very words come out of Lindsey's mouth. Live and in person.
And I'm still skeptical.
But, like Fox Mulder...
I want to believe...
:p
I'm saving vacation and will start saving money this week.
(Can someone give him a non-perfectionist's pill or something, just to make sure?)

And there it begins. In the summer interview he said "on the first of 2005", now it is sometime this year and so it goes and so it goes...
Gerald, getting nervous now about the bet? :wavey:

He can go to Sanctuary. If they'll release a Mick Fleetwood solo album, they'll have no qualms releasing a Lindsey Buckingham one.

WelshWitchPMD 01-02-2005 11:42 AM

OK not that I am that hopefully of a soon to be released Lindsey solo project but:

Nice globes!

True, BUT he has the Fleetwood name. When you hear "Fleetwood" you think Fleetwood Mac. Unless you're us or you realize the supreme genius that is Lindsey, when you hear "Buckingham," you think "Palace"

I would be surprised if Mick sold 20,000 copies of "Something Big." It's not exactly an album that would get a lot of promotion or be easily found at the local Wal-Mart.

So, I say that if Mick Fleetwood can get a record released, Lindsey will have no problems getting one of his released. It's just a matter of him realizing that a big label like Warners doesn't want to release his solo stuff.

I don't doubt that it didn't sell well--I just mean that his name is more widely recognizable than Lindsey's. And yes, as I said earlier in this thread, Lindsey needs to learn that in Warners eyes, he's not a viable solo artist. When he'll come to that realization? Who knows. I hope this is a sign that he has but I suppose we'll have to wait and see what 05' brings us

Regina 01-02-2005 12:32 PM

But he does have his Soundstage performance

Which will air a little later this year.
And he did seem interested in promoting that.
So, people could learn his name (again--as they did in 97, which was the right time for GOS--which was "95% done"--to be released).
So, if he hurries his little tushie up and finishes what he's creating now (with the help of a whole bucket of non-perfectionist pills) the Lindsey Buckingham World Tour would be the next logical step (obviously, someone's slipping anti-cynic stuff in my coffee. I'm not normally this delusional).

Les 01-02-2005 12:33 PM

Thanks for passing that on Christy. Hope springs eternal. :)

I don't know. I suppose i'm a little more doubtful simply for the fact that with every tour he's on, he's garnered with critical acclaim as a guitarist and then it seems as though his name is forgotten once again -_- (insert some "no one knows my naaame...no one knows my naaame..." HERE) He could totally ride the coat tails of the Fleetwood Mac tour and get something out but again, as you were saying, perfectionist Lindsey--bless his heart--probably will take another 8 years making it "just so."

Man. I'm a Debbie Downer :distress: Pass one of your pills, please ;)

shackin'up 01-02-2005 01:09 PM

Thanks Christy!

I am not keeping any hopes up. I did have a dream a week ago that Lindsey was doing a special show in New York City on the 30th but I don't know what month it was.

I was there however and I don't remember much else.

The Nisse 01-02-2005 01:45 PM

Am I the only one curious as to where that quote comes from..?

I had a hard time finding it in record stores in New York City.

The clerks are like 'Do you mean Fleetwood Mac'? NO DUH!

He did say that he was going to tour, right? I just want to make sure that I was not dreaming.

I don't think Lindsey planned on touring very much when he originally was going to release his solo album. But now that the Say You Will Tour was such a success (and it seemed that he had so much fun with it) that he'll work out something and get a tour going. I'd love to see Mick and John back him up doing his solo work. I think there's so much of his song library that deserves to be played on stage but he never got a chance to. I mean, imagine working on an album for 10+ years, then only getting to do 3 new ones live. I'm hoping he tours, but can't hold my breath...

Johnny Stew 01-02-2005 04:29 PM

The fact that he said he's writing new songs is definitely a good thing... and, yet, it also concerns me.

It seems to me, based on past history, that we'd have a better chance of getting a new album sometime within 2005, if he had simply fine-tuned the remaining 'Gift Of Screws' tracks and released those.

Given Lindsey's tendency to tinker for years (and decades) at a time, his working on new songs could definitely put this project's release date in the "to be announced" category for quite a while.

But I'm itching for some new L.B. music, so I'm remaining cautiously optimistic. :D

Lala 01-02-2005 04:41 PM

Wow a whole 3 senteces! Talk about spontinaety! Yeah I know I probably spelt that wrong. Sorry I'm feeling extra bitter today. Good to know that his solo album might just come out. I'm still waiting for my special order of Law & Order to come in though.

wondergirl9847 01-02-2005 05:37 PM

Just wanted to say..

HUGE thanks to everyone for being so positive!!

Vianna 01-02-2005 06:00 PM

I absolutely adore and love Lindsey but I also know him. I came to the Penguin in 1995!!! loking for news of the then "new" album from Lindsey-that would have been GOS. So we get Say You Will in 2003! that is legally. A lot of us have GOS boots but even that was what 2000, 2001?

He can't help himself I guess. He wants the music to be perfect. It's part of who he is, and I certainly wouldn't want him to be different.

On the other hand, just a tad sooner, Lindsey? Please?

wondergirl9847 01-02-2005 06:15 PM

Sarcastic...yes

Yes, I was being sarcastic, in response to most of this thread. I wasn't singling anyone out.

I know everyone has been "burned" in the past, but I'm excited about this news and reading this thread has been mostly a downer. That's all.

To be honest, I don't think it will be very long before an album comes out. I get the feeling that he got a real kick in the pants recently and will actually release soemthing. Methinks he realized what he was missing out on by doing nothing.
