Kenneth Starr says he shouldn't have been involved in Lewinsky case

http://www.sacbee.com/state_wire/sto...12522663c.html

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. (AP) - Kenneth Starr says he never should have led the investigation that resulted in the impeachment of former President Bill Clinton.
The former independent counsel, now dean of the Pepperdine University law school, says "the most fundamental thing that could have been done differently" was for somebody else to have investigated Clinton's statements under oath denying he had an affair with White House intern Monica Lewinsky.

Starr said his role in a yearslong investigation of Clinton should have focused instead on Clinton's role in the failed Arkansas land deal known as Whitewater.

"There was a sense on the part of the country that my (Lewinsky) effort was an effort somehow to expand the (Whitewater) investigation, when it was separate," he told the Santa Barbara News-Press following a speech on Wednesday.

Clinton has accused Starr of running a partisan, Republican effort to ruin his presidency. Starr, however, defended the integrity of the investigation.

"It reinforced the proposition that all of us are subject to the law, no matter how high our station," he said. "The facts are the facts."

At his 1999 impeachment trial, Clinton was acquitted by the Senate of perjury and obstruction of justice. The Whitewater case ended with the conviction of Arkansas Gov. Jim Guy Tucker and two of Clinton's former business partners for fraud and conspiracy. Clinton was never charged.

KS was so wrong for that position. But, the R's wanted a witch hunter and that is what they got. Moreover, Reno approved it  I will always say Clinton was wrong and broke the law - but the Star investigation was the biggest bit witch hunting I have ever seen - EVER

 What an ass.

He could have easily taken himself out of the investigation. Instead, he chose to invade the privacy of the president and publish a pornographic "report" that not only embarassed the country, but read like something out of the Penthouse Forums. Hindsight is 20/20, but Mr. Starr *loved* going after Clinton and relished pissing off the lefties.

Interesting - but wrong from a legal point of view - Clinton was accused of sexual harrassment - the Lewinsky affair was relevant to establish a patern of activity. So, once it reached that point, the question was relevant. My point is Starr's investigation lasted so long and meandered so much that it was a witch hunt. Granted Clinton made it easy for them with Lewinsky and the cover up (and there was one  ) - but the Starr commission should have ended three years before that IMO but Reno kept broadening it - why I have NO MF idea. Now - this does not mean he did not screw that harpy Paula Jones (can you say celebrity death match  ) - of course he did - and that was bad of him and just shows poor taste LOL

She seems like a stand-up gal, I liked her a lot. Liked Albright, too, who I met and loved. Surprisingly warm.

OMG, Paula Jones' nose looked like some mutated thing found on Three Mile Island. I think it was an independent organism renting space smack dab in the center of her face.

Imagine if she had J-Lo's ass - OH wait - she DID

Ya know - Jenifer Flowers had a caberet act in New Orleans for a long time. I met her after the show one night (shut up Amner  ) - we did not discuss Clinton  She was actually attractive at least in relation to Jones

Clinton never slept with Paula Jones. In fact, he wasn't even at the hotel at the time she says he exposed himself to her. Even Jones never said they slept together.

She had J Lo's ass, Maureen Stapleton's arms, and Howard the Duck's choppers. And that hair looked like something you'd find in Tonya Harding's yearbook photo. Trailer chic.

Child, don't even get me started on Linda Tripp.

Flowers looks like Elizabeth Taylor next to those beasts.

Child - I have too much to do - but whatever he did to her - he paid her in the end and was related to sex  The penetration, while certainly gives a glimmer that his taste in women is not THAT horrible, is irrelevant

And the funny thing? Goodman's more attractive than Tripp.

If it came out that Clinton had an affair with Tripp, I would have picketed for his impeachment. ;)

Like I said earlier, I'd rather walk through Hell wearing a gasoline bra and panties set while breastfeeding Gary Coleman before I'd even consider touching Linda Tripp with a ten foot pole.
