support acts?
 

Just wondering..have FM ever had any, on any tour?

In some of the earlier tour, such as the Rumours and Fleetwood Mac and Tusk tours they may have had them but not sure, I think the legacy has a good list of all concerts showing supporting acts.

At the Wembley Stadium concert on 1st September 1990 the support acts were The River City People, Hall and Oates and Jethro Tull.

I was there for that one!

Yeah, in 90 they had an opening act for a part of the tour in the US up until Stevie and Christine announced it was their last tour... Can't recall at the moment - but The Squeeze comes to mind.

I know that Men At Work (of Who Can It Be Now fame) opened up on the Mirage tour.

I remember Squeeze opening for them on the BTM tour. Can't recall any others.

I have seen Christopher Cross and Men At Work open for the Mac.

A few of these acts (like Santana) didn't really open in the strict sense but just played festival bills with Fleetwood Mac.

David, when did Bob Marley open (or play on same festival or whatever) with them?

The one I'm aware of is the one Mick mentions in his book. It's the Open Air Festival in Munich on June 1, 1980.

I think this concert may be on film, by the way. It's just a guess, but I have a clip of "Don't Stop" at some big outdoor German show in '80, so this might be it.

Men At Work were really good. Christopher Cross's big hit at the time was Ride Like the Wind, and I remember I was stuck in the concession line when he played it.

I saw him when he opened for 'em the last two nights of the Tusk tour at the Hollywood Bowl...I remember "Ride Like The Wind" was 100x's better live than on record.

All Man, The Mac and Jethro Tull are my two all time fav. That is one show I would have loved to see.

I know and trade with many mac fan does anyone have a good Jethro Tull shows for trade?

Errr...I wonder when they did away with them, you know, decided to do the whole concert themselves? The Dance Era maybe? David?

When I saw Fleetwood in June 1990, Squeeze was the opener. When I saw Fleetwood again in December 1990, I don't recall any opening act.

Also, no opening act at the supper club shows in '94 & '95, & of course as everyone knows, no opener on the '97 reunion tour.

Did anyone see an '82 show with Glenn Frey opening? Frey played the City of Hope benefit as a guest (it was the summer "The One You Love" was a hit), but he didn't open any show in CA. Men at Work were supposed to, but Mac had to postpone their CA dates, so Dave Mason opened in Los Angeles & Oakland.

To add further to David's list:

John Waite (formerly of the Babys) ... was the first act in a festival concert in Orlando for the Tusk tour, followed by Loverboy and John Cougar, with the Mac as the headliners. Awesome show from about 2PM until about 11PM (?)

I thought Jethro Tull were total pants so I went to the loo about two songs in. I was glad I did because the queue was so long but I got back in time for FM

I thought they were crap too! I was right at the front of the standing section and didn't dare move though. So had to suffer it all! Hall and Oates were pretty good!

The show I saw in 1994, Roger McGuinn (ex-Byrds leader) did a solo acoustic set as opening act.

On the TITN 1988 tour in Germany a group called "The adventures" opened for them. This group had a little radio hit called "just send my heart" back then.

For part of the tour. Dave Mason (along with his songwriting partner, the now late, Jim Kreuger) did an all-acoustic set to open the two shows in LA that were filmed for the Mirage video.
