Tonight was so much better than last week. I thought it was losing steam but I enjoyed tonight's ep.

skcin 11-01-2004 09:57 AM

Oh yes, VERY good episode. Mary Alice's son is tooooooo creepy, I love it! And that mother in law - what a hoot! Maybe she'll stab her to death with her knitting needles!

Paula

DrummerDeanna 11-01-2004 10:54 AM

Grrr...missed all but the last couple of minutes

Was THRILLED when I saw Terri Hatcher kissing the "plumber" though....even though he's potentially a "bad guy"

And I like that actress who played that one lady's mother--she's the perfect Mexican Mother man...she hilarious!!! I'm peeved that I missed her - I may actually make an effort to stay home next Sat. and watch the repeat...

Was Edie in this ep at all?

That actress played the mom in "Real Women Have Curves" (great movie, btw!) She's excellent.

And no Edie this week.

Hmmm... OK, the chick who's banging her gardener? Her mother-in-law is staying with them & hubby suspects something's up, so he cried to his mama. She then SLAPPED him across the face, cuz "our family does NOT cry about our problems." She told him she'd "take care of it" and hasn't let the daughter-in-law out of her sight since, making it very difficult to bang the gardener, lol.

So daughter-in-law took mama shopping & stuck a shirt in her bag - when mama went to run after her, the alarm went off & security took her, enabling daughter-in-law to bang her gardener.

After that, mama told her a story about hubby's papa. Hubby thinks he ran off with a waitress, but mama implied that she "took care of him", kind of threatening to do the same to daughter-in-law.

Gotta get back to work, I'll write more later if no one else fills you in.

skcin 11-01-2004 01:43 PM

I'm back for a bit:

Teri Hatcher was asked to watch her neighbor's cat, so when she went to feed it she found that the neighbor's house was broken into. She found a screwdriver on the counter, so she gave it to the police to get fingerprints. Then the cop asked her out & she said yes.

In the meantime, plumber guy meets some creepy older guy in the park & tells him he "screwed up by leaving something behind." The old guy tells him there's no room for screw-ups and says that he has a hunch that at least one of the neighbors is bad news & he needs to get the job done (I can't remember exactly how he put it...) Later we see one screwdriver missing from plumber's tools.

So Teri goes out with the cop, she sees the screwdriver in his trunk even though he said he gave it to the lab. Teri gets mad that he lied & walks away from him even though she's in a bad area ot town. She calls her daughter, who sends plumber to pick her up. He does, sees the screwdriver. Teri tells him what happened. Asked him what he thinks about her. Then he kissed her.

Last one : OCD lady invites Mary Alice's son over for dinner (kids are on a trip & hubby's still staying at a motel so she's lonely, plus feels bad for the kid.) They start talking about the holidays, how his mom loved the holidays & how it will be hard this year. OCD lady tells him that HER mom died after being hit by a car when she was little, says she never told anyone about it before.

Kid says "I know why my mom killed herself, it's because of something I did." Then when she starts to ask about it, he starts shaking & freaks out & takes off.

She tells the friends, they all agree they need to get more info. So she goes to the house to invite him over again & kid & dad are fighting. Kid lies & says everything's fine, then you see dad's bloody lip. Kid says he will come to dinner, then OCD chick cancels when hubby asks her out to dinner.

So while they're out, crazy kid breaks into their house & decorates it completely with his mom's Xmas decorations (WTF?) The cops come & they all ask him why he did it, and he says.............................................................

"I don't know"

At the end of the episode, you see dad drive crazy kid away.

Paula

DrummerDeanna 11-01-2004 01:57 PM

Wow--last night's episode DOES sound good - I think I'll try and catch the repeat....

Well I WAS happy about the plumber...now though.....I just don't know now...damn secret lives....

DrummerDeanna 11-01-2004 02:28 PM

By the way, Paula - thanks for that great and comprehensive re-cap of DH - it was awesome...:D

Heh, thanks - yeah, after I wrote it I was like "whoa, I know WAY too much!" Of course, now I have to start trying to remember the characters' names instead of referring to them as their traits/actions.

Oh I know - I don't know why their names won't stick - I remember Edie (Slutty blonde) and Lynette - the mother with the hpyer kids....that's pretty much it though...

amber 11-01-2004 03:49 PM

Whoah! thanks paula. I sure missed a lot in that half hour...

ontheEdgeof17 11-01-2004 03:52 PM

Seeing that kid's dad on the floor with the bloody lip makes me think that the kid had something to do with his mom's murder......or maybe he hit the dad cuz the dad was at fault....AHHH! I dunno. Cliffhangers kill me!

Curtis, Don't forget it was suicide, not murder. Makes it even more confusing.

wondergirl9847 11-01-2004 04:24 PM

Omg..

What if Mary Alice was having an inappropriate relationship with Zach?!

EWWWWW!!!! Maybe that's why he says it was his fault she killed herself.

He seemed to like being with Bree last night and I thought something weird was gonna happen with them, but thank God, it didn't.

Johnny Stew 11-01-2004 04:27 PM

I'm wondering if Mary Alice's son, Zach, really had something to do with the reason she killed herself, or if he's just feeling survivor guilt, and, much like children whose parents divorce, is blaming himself for what happened.

They may be playing up the sinister aspect for added-drama. Then again, maybe he's a young Jeffrey Dahmer in the making!

Him punching his father was certainly an interesting twist! Up till now we've been lead to believe the father is the domineering one... but perhaps it's the other way around.

I don't think Mike (the hunky plumber) is "bad" at all. I have a feeling that whoever or whatever it is he's investigating has something to do with an injustice having occured. I even wondered if perhaps the older man he met at the park, is related to Mary Alice somehow. Her father, maybe?
Just a theory.

The only thing I DO know is that this show is pretty irresistible!

chiliD 11-01-2004 04:29 PM

The only thing that would make this show better is if David Lynch was involved. :D

His behaviour around Bree did seem weird, but then I just chalked it up to the fact that he's probably missing a maternal figure, and/or outside social contact. Seems like he's been holed up in the house, either with his father or completely alone, since Mary Alice died.

SPOILER!

DON'T READ THE REST OF MY POST IF YOU DON'T WANT TO KNOW ANY INFO ABOUT THIS SEASON!

I just read the newest TV Guide, and it says the following will happen this season:

*Susan & Mike WILL hook, up. And he's not a cop. He's "on a personal mission, trying to get info about one of the families."

*The gardener's mom finds out about his affair, but thinks it's with one of the other housewives.

*Bree finds out hubby has a "sexual problem" and another hubby gets arrested.

*Lynette hires a nanny but it will make things worse.

*Nosy neighbor Mrs. Huber's sister has a connection to the deceased Mary Alice.

*Someone will be murdered.

*We will find out why Mary Alice offed herself by the end of the season. The creator said "I'm purposely making them think it's one thing, but it's not."

WOOHOO! :blob2: :blob2: :blob2:

Here's to a great season of this awesome show!

Thanks for the heads up, Paula. These are not really spoilers....more like teasers.

I can't wait to find out about Mary Alice, the murder of a member of the cast, and Mike, in general. We will probably be waiting until May for all these answers. ;)

Ooh - thanks Paula - I can't enough of this show..

Last night's was great, I though...I was so excited when Lynette stood up to that snooty ass mom at the play....there are So moms like that - my sister had to deal with them at my nephew's old school - so it was nice to see Lynette tell her off...

Also - they added the "Dana" thing from Zac...any thoughts on that - Dana was obviously a baby....since the blanket had her name on it...

Umm...lets so - oh - ha the mother-in-law thing is cracking me UP!! I can't believe she took her to the casino - too funny - I was laughing my ass off at that whole thing - other than that that mother in law totally pisses me off...stupid Carlos - he's a total mama's boy...

dissention 11-08-2004 09:38 AM

Last night's show was rather risque, I must say. The scrotum bit had me on the floor. I? Love Marcia Cross.

My theory is that Zach killed the baby and Mary Alice covered it up. But I don't think it was her husbands baby, she had an affair and got pregnant. ;) Just the musings of someone who used to watch Melrose Place, Dynasty, Knots Landing, and Dallas. :wavey:

Patti 11-08-2004 09:39 AM

I didn't like Marcia Cross' character at first. I thought Bree was SO repressed. But I have to admit, she totally cracked me up with the restaurant scene. Wonder what hubby's secret is??????

I concur with your theory - sounds like a viable prime-time soap situation....either that or I was thinking perhaps Zan saw one of his parents kill the baby.... who knows..

Also - Marcia Cross WAS great last night- I loved her hounding her husband about his "secret" ...great scene!!!

--So what else has Marcia Cross been in? She is so familiar to me...

wondergirl9847 11-08-2004 11:18 AM

Marcia Cross..

was on Melrose Place.

Last night was hilarious! The restaurant bit had me dyin' as well as the abstinence club scene. BWAH!!

Diss, I think you are right about the plot, and I think Bree's husband is gay, but there are all sorts of theories over at TWOP. LOL

what's TWOP??

Yeah - I was thinking the gay thing....but again, who knows?

And the abstinence club thing was SO funny....but it looks like obnoxious mom-in-law is suspicious of the gardner...and it looked as though someone walks in on them in the next ep...should be interesting...

TWOP is televisionwithoutpity.com, a site I spend way too much time posting at, on the Gilmore Girls, Alias, & Lost boards. Read their recaps, they'll make you spit stuff at your computer screen.

I think I'm the only one in the world who doesn't completely love Desperate Housewives. I've seen every episode (although I missed the first half hour last night, watching Arrested Development), and I like it- but I don't think it's the greatest thing ever. I did love last week when Lynette turned her kids into slave labor to calm them down.

Marcia Cross looked smoking hot in her undies, though! I was impressed!

SuzeQuze 11-08-2004 11:52 AM

Marcia Cross

It is great to see her in this type of show again. I loved her on Melrose, even coming back from the dead! I was crazy addicted to that show and DH is becoming a top guilty pleasure!

Diss, your theory is interesting. I wonder if the Dad made the son THINK he did something to the baby when in reality he didn't. That Dad is the evil one IMO.

I like the show, but I'm obsessed with Lost. Josh Holloway alone is enough to keep me obsessed. Hehe. Is it Wednesday yet?! It's Sawyer's ep!!

I heard on the radio that Marcia is almost 44. Sheebus, I'm only 28 and she made me feel like a cow. LOL I hope I can look like that at her age.

Sawyer's grown on me so much in the last couple of weeks. I can't wait for Wednesday, I think he's the only one left that I'm really excited to learn about. Maybe Hurley. Claire, I guess. But she's been completely out of sight for the last two episodes.

Josh Holloway IS hot. I'm looking forward to him bloodied. Hopefully he'll get a punch back in, although this group smackdown in the preview screams HoYay! to me.

wondergirl9847 11-08-2004 01:22 PM

Josh....sigh.....LOL

Yes, he is smokin' hot. Plus, he's Southern!! That Georgia accent is real. Hehe. Next week, with him in the blue shirt...forget it, I'm a goner. Floppy hair, stubble, Southern accent, wise-a$$....yep, he's mine, step off. LMAO!!

I don't know... he seemed pretty enthusiastic about the idea of the female sex surrogate. If they had mentioned the surrogate would be male, I'd be more inclined to think he's gay.

Anyway, I have a few theories...

A. He wants to watch Bree having sex with another woman
B. He wants to act out some kind of S&M-type situation
C. He has some really weird and obscure fetish that he wants to act out (like the CSI episode about "furries")

The first theory seems somewhat clichéd though, so I'd be surprised if it turns out to be that.

ha, i think so too, B and C. Although, i don't think he'd be a "Furry". It's weird, a few months ago there was a giant article about furries in one of our weekly magazine/papers...i feel like a non furry furry expert...

*********SPOILER WARNING**************

So, what did everyone think of last night? I couldn't believe it when Mama Solis was hit by the car! OMG, But the funniest pat was right after, when the kid went after the camera, Eva Longoria just got up calmly picked up a bag and started packing!!!!!!!!!!

I LOVE THIS SHOW!
