"Something Big ...Huge ...Massive..."

Mick Fleetwood met John McVie at age 16. Later on, he formed this little band called Fleetwood Mac. Chaos, insanity, and millions of albums sold, he's back with a solo offering called (appropriately...) "Something Big." Mick tells Rock.com all about the ups and downs of being in one of rock's most successful bands, and what might be happening in a couple of years...

I just finished listening to the whole interview and it seems like Mick really was just talking off the top of his head about something they could do for the 40th anniversary, rather than this being something he's actively planning, which the Rock.com press release kind of implies.

Among other things, he talks briefly about Christine's album. The interviewer reads one of the reviews to him that implied that Chris' songs were angry complaints about Fleetwood Mac and how she'll never be back. Mick laughs and says he is quite sure Chris won't come back, but he doesn't believe the songs are about the band. They're all, as far as he knows, about a "disastrous" love affair Chris had.

He talks about how much they enjoyed the SYW tour. Any disagreements they still have are generally about artistic choices (i.e., setlists), but they all love each other, etc.

He talks about Something Big and how it was recorded.

He talks about the bad place the world is in. When asked, he implies he'd vote for Kerry, but can't since he's English. He hastens to add that John, being a staunch Republican, most certainly wouldn't.

Boy, that would be a dream come true: Peter does 4-5 songs; Bob does 4-5 songs; Bekka, Rick, and Billy do 4-5 songs. I won't list Chris since I'm 99% positive she won't do it :( . Then L&S finish out the night.

I think if this did happen, the most we could hope for is a one-time-only show...not a tour. And I think that would be satisfying considering what it would take to pull the whole thing off. They should tape it obviously, but even if they didn't I'd still be happy with boots!

If Mick is still planning to do a Q&A here, I'd say he's the person to encourage the idea to! Ledgies Unite! :thumbsup:

I'm not so sure about that. I think she'd at least consider it. She did kind of joke about a one time show on that VH1 Classic interview. This would obviously be a one-off sort of thing. Mick mentioned Royal Albert Hall. I'm sure they'd probably release it on CD and/or DVD. In my opinion, something like this wouldn't be worth it unless it included Peter Green & Christine McVie. How can you have a 40th reunion concert without those two? Unfortunately, Danny Kirwan is probably not in good enough health to be a part of it.

Did Mick say he was gonna do a Q&A on our site?! :laugh: I thought he was gonna do one on HIS site. But he's certainly welcome to do one here!

I heard a chunk of the above interview w/ him yesterday; I love Mick but boy can he ramble. Even the radio guy was trying to cut him off a few times LOL.

Interesting. So Mick is not a US citizen?

Why, why, why? :distress: I understand the fiscal conservatism, but the current regime is not fiscally conservative, they're a bunch of crooks and a hateful bunch of crooks at that.
How could someone like John vote for Bush? It doesn't make any sense to me. :confused:

Well, I was envisioning an actual tour. She probably would go for a one off, especially if it were close to home.
What a dream come true this would be. We need to KEEP planting this seed in Mick's ear.
It's sad about Danny, I'd kill for Woman of 1000 Years(I've been obsessed with this song for a couple of months now).

To me the idea of a tour w/ all those people is just an absolute pipe dream (albeit a nice one.) IMO the only way it might ever possibly happen is if it were truly just a one time thing.
