My Heart snippet now available for download

From the BN board:

Hello everyone,
I`m sorry for the delay but have been sick and had no time to put up a snippet of the TISL studio outtake "My Heart" on my hp. But it`s finally done and I hope you enjoy! Here`s the link to go to:

http://www.geocities.com/Heaven2nigh...evienicks.html

Thanks very much to Sara from SaraRhiannon page and Tiff from BlueWhiteFire page for her nice help! I never could have this done without your fabulous step-by-step infos.

To all others:
I hope you enjoy the song. I`ll definately trade the whole song very soon! So please don`t be mad at me as some of you have been which really made me very sad. I`ve never said that I will never trade the song. I said that I just don`t want to trade it at time and I think it`s my right to do so. And I hope you see that I`m not a liar or something else.

Would be nice when someone could tell what he thinks about the song. For me it`s one of her best songs ever!

Take good care and nice emails are always welcome!

Wow...

Thanks so much for this. I love it!!! Makes me really look forward to the new solo CD.

Well I for one was never mad at you, and I thank you for sharing. It's your prerogative to do whatever you want with the song, I just think we are so hungry for anything we haven't heard yet, we sometimes get frustrated. :(

Thanks again!

I like it. Very Tom Petty/Sheryl Crow-ish. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if this were a track Sheryl produced.
It's also pretty polished -- seems like it must have been one of the final TISL contenders before being cut.

ontheEdgeof17 10-02-2004 11:36 AM

HOLY ****! I love this! How perfect would it have been on TISL?!?!?! Very single worthy, IMO. The music is amazing. I could have so seen this track by "Your Not The One"....same musical feel to it.

This song has radio hit written all over it. I detect a very Sheryl Crow/Dixie Chicks influence here. Why was this left of TISL?

From what I can tell it just doesn't go with the flow of Shangri-la...I do agree it has single written all over it, and I'm sure we will see it on the next album. I really love this song! I need the whole thing! :]

I have posted the correct lyrics in bold which differ from the original transcription.

Shadows and the first sign of life
lifted my heart as if some kind of wings
lifted me up and so became
your face your name

After all these years
it`s still the same
and you`re not to blame

Well my heart still stops
when I stand before you
and my heart still breaks
when you take my hand
and my eyes still glows
when someone speaks your name
Yuu understand
it`s all the same

skcin 10-02-2004 02:00 PM

I'm not really a "shipper", but tell me these lyrics aren't about LB...

Not sure why it's not working. I like the song, but it reminds me of a song from OSOTM And yes, it is better than a few song i can think of off TISL. I like the music before the words start especially.

Got it

Realy surprised at how good the quality is!

Loved the start, I agree it sounds very Sheryl Crow - y

Needs some work though, loved the verse, thought it was gonna build up to an amazing chorus, which didnt arrive..

Potentially a good song for Stevie's next album though

Serrart 10-02-2004 04:18 PM

I really like it, Stevie sings it beautifully, the lyrics are powerful and the arrangement works well IMO . I hope it would be on the next album along with Space Needle.

Johnny Stew 10-02-2004 04:22 PM

Terrific song... I could see it easily replacing "That Made Me Stronger" on 'TISL' (I think all of the other tracks are perfect, or at least fit perfectly).

I can't wait to have a full length copy... but I'm glad to at least have this teaser in the meantime. :)

That's something I've been disappointed with in Stevie's last couple albums... the lack of prominent piano/keyboards.

I miss the days of Jimmy Iovine, when the guitars and keyboards got equal time.
But I think John Shanks has it in him to revisit that sound in a fresh kind of way. I hope Stevie works with him again.

Well, i'm sure people would disagree :rolls eyes emphatically: but IMO, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out it's about him.

Stevie...hurry and give us another album

Actually what I miss in Stevie's songs, is space. and harmony. and space in the harmony. Which is why I hope they do another album together, rather than solos. But, I don't think i'm getting my wish...

I don't think we'll get Mac albums instead of solos, but I have a really good feeling that we will get new Mac albums. :D

Stevie's best solo producer, hands down, was Jimmy... but I think John Shanks showed a LOT of promise on 'TISL,' and I think that if she worked on an album with him from start to finish, they could come up with something that would even top 'Shangri-La.'

yeah, he did well. Actually, i don't know off the top of my head which songs he didn't produce...and the cd is at least 4 feet away  But still, someone should almost ALWAYS be singing harmony with Stevie, IMO. sort of a distinctive harmony is my fav. I couldn't even barely hear Macy Gray in BS. And i love TFFT because of the distinctive harmony...

"you can sit outside his door and wiat - you can deicate your pain to him"

hmmmmmm - she certainly dedicated her pain to LB in this song - breathtaking IMO. I would prefer a better vocal, but I ALWAYS want a better vocal   :sool:

Does your leather collar have a hook for the bell - :wavey:

joe 10-02-2004 11:36 PM

this is good....for me, it should replace "love changes". i thought that song was more out of place than "that made me stronger."

i think songs are "left off" the albums on purpose....or at least it seems....at least in stevie's case. it always seems like some of the non-album tracks are the ones that are among some of her finest....
