No, I have not heard of that author. However there is a book coming out by Carol Ann Harris. I read this on another board. I am sorry if it has been posted before. The link is from Amazon UK. I did not find it on Amazon.com.

I doubt Carol Ann's book could get published if there wasn't any dirt in it. This should be very interesting.

I think she's talking about the "Never Break the Chain" book, not Carol Ann's book.

This might all be a good thing... Maybe this will be the catlyst for Stevie to "counter" book and
spit out this autobiography of hers that we've all been wondering about???

This 'Making of Rumours' book sounds great - less gossip and more music.

Carol Ann's book should be interesting...

DownOnRodeo 09-29-2004 08:21 AM

Well as for Carol Ann's book, I'm sure that it's full of juicy details, but then so was Mick's... thanks to its disappointing fiction-to-truth ratio. Keep that in mind if she 'reveals' any secreat 'truths'!

Patti 09-29-2004 08:25 AM

Holy moly--Carol Ann's writing a book?! Although I would hate to give her one dime for what I am sure will be some serious gossipy trash, the allure is just too compelling! But I saw the release date was April 28, 2005 too, long time to wait. Hey maybe it will coincide with Lindsey's solo album release!

Can you order a book through Amazon UK to be delivered to the US?
I'd love to read Carol Ann's book.

And I've got the "Never Break the Chain" book last week. It's really pretty interesting so far. She interviewed a lot of the studio folks who were there around the making of Rumours. And get this--she cites the Penguin a lot and says it's really the best online source for info on the Mac--yeah, like we didn't already know that!!!

Back when she was with Lindsey, she was just "Carol." These days, she's "Carol Ann"? Isn't Carol Ann the little girl in "Poltergeist"? There is absolutely no connection between the unfortunate little chit & the rock star's crazy ex who spills all on talk shows.

I'd like to send all these writers of past FM books a copy each of Jacques Barzun & Henry Graff's "The Modern Researcher." They could all stand a primer on fundamental scholarship techniques.

GardenStateGirlie 09-29-2004 11:22 AM

Fabulous. Carol Ann's book will coincide with the release of Lindsey's solo album. I'm sure Lindsey will be stoked to know that  Way to ride the Fleetwood Mac train.

strandinthewind 09-29-2004 11:26 AM

Well, it could be a boon in that if people actually are interested in the 20 year old story that she has to tell, which essentially is a repeat of a topic the Mac itself has IMO exhausted   - then maybe LB's record will benefit from the attention!!!!!!!!

Wishful thinking, David. Sadly, I don't think it will ever happen for us unless Stevie decides to write something of her own as she has said she would eventually. We'll be waiting another 20 years for that i'm afraid.

You and I could probably write a book with much more accurate detail and substance. Hmm...

Ahh..you never know. Even if he doesn't benefit, she certainly will if it sells enough copies. Hey, she needs to keep up with those cheek implants you know

That's interesting.

The publisher actually wrote us and asked if we'd be interested in a review copy/promoting it-- I said perhaps, and asked if they'd spoken to any members for the book or if the info was obtained primarily from previous interviews etc. I see above that at least they did talk to some studio people.

Haven't heard back from her yet....??

Gypsy-Rhiannon 09-29-2004 11:52 AM

I'm almost certain she talked with Bob Brunning. I remember some time ago he was asked for some info to required for a book so maybe it was this one

yeah - you should. I personally have the feeling that Stevie's book would also be an excercise in half truths and washovers. No offense to Stevie, of course. But I noticed when i was reading old movie actress biographies in highschool, that the one the star wrote themselves was always more dull, and really didn't have any dirt in it that would make the star look bad, or show them at a weak human moment or whatever... :wavey:

I agree. Though Vanessa Redgrave's books were pretty damn fine, as was the one that was supposedly written by Frances Farmer that we now know was not written by her.

Truthfully, Kitty Kelley needs to write the definitve book on La Nicks.

that's what i said before. It figures Vanessa Redgrave would be an exception. Bette Davis' "mother goddam" by her was ok, considering, but it didn't touch "Bette and Joan" or of course, the book her daughter wrote about her... There were some i read by the star that were really bad - like, as if Martha Stewart got ahold of the manuscript and made it all nice for thanksgiving

I must say Kitty K. is a bit of a hack, but her books are good if they are taken with a little grain of salt

As for celeb. autobiographies, read "Swanson on Swanson" by Gloria Swanson. She is unflinching in her honesty about herself, her ambition, and the price she paid for it.

As for the rest., La Bankhead's was pretty fab.

I think I read both bio and autobio of Bankhead. Both were good, but auto didn't have as much super dirt. Some stars do tell stuff, but if you read a bio by someone else you'll notice "different information"...

She's won many prestigious awards and has been honored quite a bit for being such a hack. ;) I've read all of her books but one and found them all to be among the best celeb bios I've read. Even if not everything in them is true, she doesn't present them as facts, she always says something like "according to" or quotes someone. A very fine writer, IMO.

And I agree about Swanson's book, it was great. Bette Midler was going to write an expose about the behind-the-scenes schenanigans regarding her TV show and was given and advance of $5 million for it. Then they pulled the rug out from under her because the publishing company was owned by CBS, the network her show was on, and didn't want the bad publicity.

I wish Jackie Susann had written an autobiography, it would have been salacious. But Valley of the Dolls is pretty much her autobio, so... Ethel Merman never even mentioned her in her book and they lovers, for cripes sake. I also want a Robert Altman autobio eventually.

Peter Fonda's book was good, too!

Refresh my memory -- is Carol Ann the chick in the "Big Love" video?

Janet 09-29-2004 02:07 PM

Big Love video was just an actress.

Carol Ann or whatever her name is was on the It Was I video, all over the Tusk album inserts and Law and Order too. Am I missing something? Oh yeah, and Walter Egans album too and some video that I have never seen...

Cheri ( Lindsey's girl after Carol) was on the Wrong video as one of his bed mates and not the clock as I heard before ( right?) she was in Pretty Woman too.

As for Carol writing a book, I really would love to read it. I really would love to know what Lindsey and Stevie think of it as well...
