Okay - I started to cry when reading his answers. I am in awe and humbled to have one of the Mac, much less the "Mac" of FM. SHEEBUS!!!!!!!

Thanks to John and Marty and Lisa for all of their efforts!!!!!!!!!

:woohoo:

Hawkeye 09-27-2004 08:48 PM

OMG this one's my favorite so far.

First of all I'd like to say that I think you are and have been the best bass player in rock music since the beginning of your career. My question is (and I'm sure this is on the minds of many Mac fans),what does the future hold for Fleetwood Mac in terms of touring and music being released? Thanks for taking the time to do this!!!It is greatly appreciated! (Iggy Hernandez, Miami, Florida, U.S.A.)

Hi Iggy,
Thanks for the question and the compliment. I can't say I agree with you but thanks anyway!

As to us lot touring and recording again. Well, as usual it's "up in the air". Literally. We were talking about it on the plane on the way home from the last leg of the tour a couple of weeks ago. Everyone seemed to think it's a "good idea" and "maybe next year". So who knows? It's a typical Mac thing. We seem to stumble along with no set plan and so far it seems to have worked out O.K.

I'd like to think we'd be out again. We haven't even done the mandatory "Farewell Tour. Part #1" yet!

All the Best!

McVie

LITERALLY UP IN THE AIR

I'm stupid, so I paid him a compliment, then asked if he was still a repub. I loved his answers, he is friendly and FUNNY and self depracating. and he didn't seem to give "pat" answers like some others i read, like he really told a nice little story with a joke for his answers...*sigh* I love john.... :p

Ok, not to sound dumb but I know it said only submit one question at a time. So I didn't but I sent 2 questions back to back. If they do get answered will both questions be posted? Just want to make sure.

I will combine them for you if they end up in the 'out' pile, since they are fairly short.

Haven't heard from him since yesterday AM, hope his internet access wasn't affected by the earthquake! As soon as we get new replies they'll be posted ASAP. He said it might be sporadic. I'm waiting for 4 to be sent back, then the next batch of ?'s will go out to him. We are getting so many good ones in...

ThePenguin 09-30-2004 04:01 PM

Just an update--

Heard from him today; more replies may be coming in Saturday or Sunday.

Come on John, we're running out of time for Sunday to count. Geesh even with a Q and A, it's hard to get him to talk much

Just Kidding of course. I'm just THRILLED he's doing this AT ALL, and his answers are nice and thourough and funny, I just hope the next time we get answers it's a LARGE amount of answers.

glad to see her answered my Kerry question :

Hello Mr. McVie,

Thanks so much for taking our questions. First off I just wanna say you are the backbone of Fleetwood Mac, and your bass playing is the best in rock music. I hope I can meet you someday. My question though, is kind of not music-related though. Lindsey Buckingham has referred to you in interviews as a "staunch republican," so my question has two parts. First off are you now an official US Citizen and eligible to vote here? Secondly, a fan who got the backstage tour from the Fan Club on this tour, said your tour road case had a JOHN KERRY for PRESIDENT sticker on the side. Is that true, and are you a US Citizen, and if it is true was it put there as a joke of some sort? Thanks! (Chris McLeod, Locust Grove, Georgia, U.S.A.)

Hi Chris,
Thanks for the questions. I've been a citizen since 1986. I think I still have "dual citizenship" with the U.K. but I figure I'll be here for awhile.

"They" put the "Kerry" sticker on my case for a joke. It's not there anymore!!

Thanks again! McVie

oh, good, i wanted to know if he was still a repub. It's so weird how he's so cool, and seemingly so smart, yet...Repub? (no offense to gypsysorcerer or greatdarkwing! )

One can be socially liberal but politically conservative. Down here in the South I'm drowning in a sea of rebublicans... but some are very cool! All of my "fag hags" and even my parents are repubs. But they all love gay folks, love my boyfriend, and feel we should have equal rights and protections legally as straight folks. But for issues that are more defining to them they are republican. For my girl friends it's abortion. I'm as anti-abortion as you can imagine, but that issue alone cannot make me forgive the republican party of it's other stances on other issues. For my parents it's the defense issue. Way before 9/11 they felt Clinton was too soft on defense, and wasn't being proactive with some of the situations of the day regarding defense. So to them that was their defining issue. We all just have to keep reminding ourselves that just because someone is a republican doesn't mean that they support all of the current president's policies. None of us democrats can say we totally 100% agree with every policy our party stands for either. I personally couldn't have given a damn about politics until Dubya came along and attacked Iraq... then went on a spiraling path downward from there (Patriot Act, deficit, Marriage amendment, etc). And I think once he's out of office the country will cease being this divided. But this is the wrong forum for this... so I'll stop my rant

I too have been enjoying John's Q&A. I just wish he'd answer more questions.. and faster :distress: . He can't be THAT busy nowadays  .

LouieLouie, I agree w/ all the stuff you wrote above re: 'politics', well said.

Just wanted to add that although the time to submit ?'s ends on the 10th, I did tell him that does not mean HE has to be done by then. I am hoping that he'll keep at it for awhile after that, however sporadically...we have gotten almost 200 questions in (I think he broke the record for # submitted in so few days) --but so far I have pulled about 30 that I would like to still send to him, and I'm sure a few more will come in within the next few days that will be added to that. I am trying to get ones that range through all the eras; there's a lot to cover in a 40 yr career. Frankly if it takes him 6 mos to do those 30 it would still be well worth the wait, IMO.

Obviously I cannot apply any pressure here. Whatever he wants to answer, however long he wants to do it for, is A-OK with me, end of story!

Yes, the You Want a What and We Shd HA Had a Pre Nup was by far my favorite of thius batch. And I was so happy John gave us such a good amount this time. Not 2 questions and wait 5 days. He really fed us this time. I just wish he'd give us at least a few favorite songs. For the 5th time he said again, Oh I love all the songs, none stand out, I just like playing. My god John, pick some favorites

Yes, he was quite productive today! I sent another batch and have gotten a few of those back; I'm hoping the others will come in later, but in any case there will be a few more posted tomorrow.

His answers are so worth the wait. (However it is agonizing when he sends one answer and then nothing. It's like having a drop of water in the desert!)

I added the other four he sent today; was gonna do it tomorrow but my daughter's bday party is this weekend (she turns 8 on FMac Day, October 10th ! :p ) and things may be hectic. So they're up now!

WOOOO!!! He answered my question!

Hi there John! Thanks again for doing this Q&A for us! Thank you, also, for the years of spectacular music, it's touched my life more than I can explain in words.

The great ones never leave us, and you are one of the great ones. What would you like your headstone to say about you? (Christy, Fort Worth, Texas, U.S.A.)

"I'LL BE BACK."
Love and thanks! McVie

LMAO!! That is greatness. :)

"Now we have a little time off, I'm getting back into it. Going to move from 35mm to "Medium Format". I've been scouring "E-Bay" for a deal."
Wait...John shops for "deals"?!
I loved how he said George Sanders should play him in the movie. Did you know George's suicide note said "I'm bored"?
