What Are You Gonna Be For Halloween?

I was thinking about going as George W. Bush and putting a big prosthetic ass on my face. Then I realized that it would seriously impair my vision.

Any thoughts yet?

True, so true.

Seriously though, I'm having a hard time coming up with costume ideas this year. Last year my husband and I went as a 1920's flapper and gangster--which is basically like not even TRYING to come up with something original.

wondergirl9847 09-24-2004 12:46 PM

Hellooooooo...

Um, go as Miss Stevie Nicks. Duh.

Kidding.

Again?

I think I've exhausted that one already!

Maybe this year I should go as Lindsey instead, I think I have an afro wig...

wondergirl9847 09-24-2004 12:57 PM

Hmmm..

Well, go as......uhh....Bekka Bramlett? LOL

Christine?

Go as a woman as a man, dressed in drag! LMAO!! Confuse everybody!

Yeah, people celebrate Halloween over here. I'm not a kid anymore so I don't go trick-or-treating but I DO go to parties, which is why I'm glad it falls on a Saturday this year!! Woo-hoo!

No one's expecting it so people would just come out in the their pyjamas and wonder what the hell you were doing, rather losing the atmosphere.

I don't know. Go as Burt Reynolds.

They're called holidays, dear, and they're supposed to be fun.

We don't really do the big Halloween stuff over here. My kids like to go trick or treating but a lot of folks won't answer their doors. And then you get the kids knocking who just want money.

Barbeque?! How exotic. What is this bar b q? Actually, I guess holloween could seem strange, but of course not to us. I actually don't like holloween that much, it can be stressful. When i was a kid i loved it, but that's just because you get a huge bagful of candy at once. And holloween is fun in Chico, it's basically like Octoberfest, but everyone is scantily clad, in "costumes". The entire populace of the college and town is out within a 4 block radius where all the bars are. It's great....I like holloween cause i can wear something i would never wear in real life. One time I was "hooker of the damned" and my boyfriend was "pimp of the damned" and he held the other end of a noose that was around my neck all night. Otherwise i'm usually just a cat, cause it's easy, it's cute, and you get to wear hardly anything. But I don't usually dress up here in Oakland/Berkeley, so probably nothing this year...

Money?! I've never heard of a kid here who asked for money...how does that work? Our kids just say "trick or treat!" and take whatever the person puts in their bag....

DrummerDeanna 09-24-2004 02:26 PM

I haven't made any real effort in dressing up for Halloween in about five years - five years ago I was Princess Leia - I had the cool bun hair wig and all....it was awesome....

I went as a Starbucks barista a couple of years ago - simply because I still have the apron from when I worked at one....how lame is that?? hahaha...

I have no plans as of yet for Halloween.....so I'm not dressing up...

Like I said. It isn't big over here. Most people don't want to be bothered by kids knocking on the door so don't get in sweets to give out.

DeadliestPoison 09-24-2004 03:51 PM

Heh. I'm getting to that point where I'm a little too old for it, but I do hang out with friends and walk around acting like an idiot. That's always fun.

Last year I was John McVie, circa The Dance. It? Was a good time. Except for the rain. That wasn't so good.

I don't know what I'm going to be this year. Someone my mom knows dressed as a tampon back in the day at a party. And she got an email from someone (I'm assuming it was a friend) who said he was going to put a potato on his .... and he would thus be -- wait for it -- a Dictator.

Not that I'd try those or anything. Just a little anecdote.

One of the funniest and filthiest flicks ever. I want to know what you think when you get back.

And yes, Deb was hysterical in that. I loved the ending where her hair blew up. I think I'm going to watch one his movies tonight, either Female Trouble or Desperate Living...or maybe Polyester because I have one of the Odor-Rama cards.

to scare the crap outta these religious ZEALOTS here ("Ohhh, I am goin' to hell...Big whoopdie-FN-dooo"), I think I will dress up as "Conspiracy" era King Diamond, Just for the utter shock value:

I don't understand the reasoning with dressing up as just anything? The kids that do dress up over here go for scary stuff - witches, ghosts, skeletons etc.

estranged4life 09-26-2004 12:02 PM

Probably...

because Kiss ab-so-lute-ly suck...Whereas King is a required taste (ie-Euro Metal).

Maybe I should just dress up as someone who doesnt give a flyin' f**k for Halloween...Which is a daily occurrence for me, Hehehehehehe...

Apparently in the US Halloween is only behind Christmas and New Years Day in terms of # of parties and dollars spent.

Remember the basic premise behind Halloween is that it is the day that the world of the dead is the closest to the world of the living. I believe the Celts would dress in costumes like ghouls and imps and dead people so that the dead, always looking for a live soul to posess or carry off, to trick the dead into leaving them alone. I believe at one point costumes were also intended to honor saints on All Saint's Day (Nov. 1).

My regular fallback costume is a bad fairy (short black skirt, black stockings, black DMs, black wings, heavy makeup, sometimes a blonde wig).

I love Halloween! It's my favorite time of year, and it's just a cool irreverent holiday. Christmas is cool because of the presents, but it's a little serious. I think New Years is a largely pointless holiday. Halloween you can let loose and be a little bad.

I love Halloween, too! The ridiculous costumes and candy-hungry kids kinda spoil it for me, though, because I just love the spooky, dark atmosphere and Snickers and Spiderman costumes ruin it. But, I can't complain too much because I went as ALF when I was little. And Freddy (I still have the glove)!

I usually rent tons of scary movies and watch them all day and night without any lights. The good scary movies like The Changeling, The Haunting, Night of the Living Dead, Dawn of the Dead, etc. I love it when it rains on Halloween. Sucks for the kids, but I like it.

Scary thing is we kinda look like them ( or will in 20 years maybe haha) but I hope people get it.

The people we usually party with would anyway, and that's all that matters!

I just watched the one they were in Moroco...LOL too funny. :]

That's my faaaavorite episode!

"Look at these tiles, they're goooorgeous."

Eddie to Saffi: "You can borrow some of Patsy's clothes."
Patsy: "As long as she doesn't get her scabby armpits all over everything."

AND

Eddie to Patsy: "Have you eaten anything, Pats?"
Patsy: "Not since 1973."

Oh, back OT - my friend Steve, who is a MASTER impersonator, is thinking of being 1/2 Austin Powers and 1/2 Dr. Evil OR 1/2 Dean Martin and 1/2 Jerry Lewis. He could totally pull off either one!

I ADORE Halloween - but I just found out the folks who throw the best party in town aren't doing it this year. Drats! I'm sure I'll find something to do...

The Comedy channel ran an Ab Fab marathon one weekend, I taped most of 'em.

I just remembered a cool costume I saw someone do many years ago - it's easy and inexpensive. Devil horns, tail and pitchfork, blue dress. Devil in a blue dress!

estranged4life 09-29-2004 04:22 PM

I saw...

the most hilarious costume on a website, I would post the picture BUT I do not want to offend all the females here (Let's say this person made their costume to look like a lower part of the female anatomy...If that costumed person would have came to my door I would fell dead from laughing my ass off!!!!!)
