Favorite Stevie Line

"I turned around & the water was closing around me."

Ahhh. . . . beautiful.

Johnny Stew 09-14-2004 11:08 PM

May I pick two? (And not in the Three Stooges kinda way, thank you very much!)

"I can see past you to the white sand...."

"I'm old enough to love you from afar...."

GateandGarden 09-14-2004 11:08 PM

"There's a heartbeat...and it never really died."

Anything glorifying the human heart (in a literal sense) is great to me, though that automatically rules out "Dreams."

But why must I choose only one line? :p

There are so many, but a couple that came to mind:

"I know you know watching you go is like dying."

"Someday when we're older and my hair is silver gray, unbraid with all of the love you have - like a soft silver chain."

Another of my absolute favorites.

GypsySorcerer 09-14-2004 11:32 PM

"I did not deal with you, I know; though the love has always been..."

and (sorry, need to pick two)

"I have changed, oh but you, you remain ageless"

AliP 09-15-2004 12:38 AM

"So we make our choices, when there is no choice."

Truer words have never been spoken. Seems to be the story of my life.

And...
"Not all the prayers in the world could save us."

Wild_Heart03 09-15-2004 04:59 AM

"To the gypsy that remains, she faces freedom with a little fear..."

Everytime I hear that a little chill runs down my back.

greatdarkwing 09-15-2004 08:23 AM

"With the touch of your hand....well it starts again..."

That picture is worth a thousand words

ontheEdgeof17 09-15-2004 08:29 AM

Just a few:

"Well, one more night I'd like to lie and hold you....yes, and feel....To make you smile I'd like to be there for you....Have you forgotten me?"

"You are not my friend, but still I love you."

"Take on the situation, but no the torment"

'Then there are the things that cast the doubt away....
those things that made me stay...
for so long.'

One is in my sig:

We listen to their voices, ignoring our own voice...

and

But never have I been a blue calm sea, I've always been a storm, always been a storm..

There are so many..so hard to choose...

I love that bit in the long Sara where she sings "Dreaming and the wind became crazy"

Love that "Not all the prayers in the world could save us" posted above, too

And from Rhiannon: "Take me with the wind, baby-take me to the sky' and "Dreamer, silly dreamer, try hard, you can't leave her" and

'"Rhiannon," you cry, but she's gone, and your life knows no answers'

dissention 09-15-2004 10:36 AM

'Love is a word and some entertain it, if you find it, you have won the game" is her highest achievement. It don't get no better and everything else pales in comparison.

I can just picture her singing that to Courtney Love.

TwistedGypsy 09-15-2004 10:40 AM

Have to do a Top 5 (sorry if I'm breaking the rules  )

In no particular order:

1. Drowning in the sea of love, Where everyone would love to drown.
2. Look at my eyes, touch my face. Baby there's no one that can ever replace that heartache!
3. My body tries to cry, Living through each empty night...
4. I have no fear, I have only love.
5. I did not find an answer but I did hear the call of a Nightbird! Saying Come away, Come Away! I hear the call of a Nightbird! (Live BellaDonna version)
OMG!!!!!!

"But never have I been a blue, calm sea- I have always been a storm..."

and

"Well, the people- they loved her- but still they're the most cruel..."

Very true, powerful statements.

Serrart 09-15-2004 12:26 PM

Besides all those already mentioned:

"Venus doesn't glitter when she stands next to you, when you're waltzing through stardom, you miss what you lose"

"And the sands of time like shattered glass go past her..."

"They wanted images when images weren't spoken"

"What I saw on this journey, I saw history go down, I cannot pretend that the heartache falls away"

"They go into the seas that have no shores, haunted by that same closed door"

And many others more... :D

"And to those that I love track a ghost through a fog like a charmed hour and a haunted song and the Angel...of my dreams, angel, of my dreams."

Not to be undone by, "I still look up, when you walk in the room, I've the same wide eyes...now they tell the story."

There is so much to unpack in those two lines, it's like her whole Fleetwood Mac experience up to that point in two lyrics!

AliceLover 09-15-2004 02:12 PM

There are SO many that I love

"She used to know who she was"
"Well its a hardless challenge, pick your path and then you pray"
"Still see your bright eyes, bright eyes(poor robin)"
"One set of doors was a color of honey"
"Look in my eyes, touch my face, baby is there anyone in this whole wide world that could ever replace me'

No one looked, I walked by, just an invitation woulda been just fine...

Looking up and the sky's on fiya they'll be nothin left of us, to discovah.

What you did not need was a woman who was stronger, you needed someone to depend on you, I could not be her, I did not want to- my first mistake was to smile at you.

Bella Figura 09-15-2004 03:21 PM

"sometime she talks to him, sometimes when she's only dreaming, then when she wakes up, somehow she still believes him"

"the spirits are ruthless with the paths they choose"

they may not be her most poetic but they have meaning for me

but trying to choose one or two is almost impossible...

oops I totally forgot "I'm not a child anymore, I'm tall enough to reach for the stars" Beautiful Child always make me weep by that part of the song...

ShamHy89 09-15-2004 03:32 PM

"And not all the prayers in the world could save us..."

That's probably my favorite. I crank up the volume whenever Storms ends just to hear that line.

"Love is a word that some entertain, and if you find it... you have won the game." Yay, Red Rocks. <333

Also? "Sometimes I don't say enough/ I play too hard, and still I'm not tough enough."

I have mad RAL love.

mondaymornin1 09-15-2004 05:29 PM

"Sometimes even I am allowed to fall."

and

"One man walked away from me...first he took my hand."

and

"Well I waited all my life for you, sweet girl" --I sang this one to my daughter--she was born in '97 :) What a great lullabye!

celestenadia 09-15-2004 05:30 PM

It's TOO hard!!!

The bulk of Stevie's writing is pretty darn poetic & heavy. It's SO hard to pick just one...
I'll start from the "beginning" just to make it easier on myself.
"Dreams unwind
Love's a state of mind."

jbrownsjr 09-15-2004 07:32 PM

I've been a waiting
I'm thru waiting for you

Merf 09-15-2004 07:34 PM

hold on, the night is coming
and the starling flew for days
i stay home at night
all the time
i'd go anywhere anywhere
anywhere ask me and i'll be there

EnchantedSLN 09-15-2004 08:30 PM

"Heartbreak of the moment is not endless."

Also:
"I have no fear, I have only love."
"Not all the prayers in the world could save us."
"I've been afraid of changing, because I built my life around you."
"The spirits are ruthless with the paths they choose."
"So I close my eyes softly, until I become that part of the wind, that we all long for sometime..."
"Sometimes it rages, even when it's calm."
"When I call, will you walk gently through my shadow?"
"No one knows how I feel, or what I mean unless you read between my lines."
"It's a heartless challenge, you pick your path and you pray"

dreamongypsydkm 09-16-2004 12:08 AM

I love all the ones mentioned. Well, most of them.
Plus this:

"The loneliness of a one night stand is hard to take
We all chase something
And maybe this is a dream
The timeless face of a rock and roll woman while her breaks
Oh, you know the dream keeps coming even when you forget to feel"

Somajoseph 09-16-2004 06:26 AM

Like everyone is saying, there are sooo many. The way she sings with so much conviction makes it hard to choose, but my favorite has always been the opening line to "Sara"

"Wait a minute baby...

Kelly 09-16-2004 06:48 AM

"he made love to me, with his eyes especially"

"you'll come running out in the wind with me, the ocean is your blanket"

"I can see past you to the white sand, it is BLUE , it is not about you"

heyjupiter678 09-16-2004 12:33 PM

A few more:

I'll follow you down 'til the sound of my voice will haunt you
You'll never get away from the sound of the woman that loves you

You've shaken your faith in me, no
You've shaken my faith in everything else

Maybe the reason I say these things is to bring you back alive
Maybe I fought this long and this hard just to make sure you survive

gldstwmn 09-16-2004 03:30 PM

"And the lady's feeling just like the moon that she loves...don't you know that the stars are a part of us?"

EnchantedSLN 09-16-2004 03:43 PM

How could I forget. "Not unlike the blue-white fire, you burn brightly in spite of yourself."

GateandGarden 09-16-2004 05:15 PM

A few more I love--

"I search only for something I can't see."

"Maybe you thought that
I'd never change - but
You know I'm changing-
You're wrong
And it's been like dying."

"Even best intentions turn around one day
Saying...Nobody's right, baby
All the time..."

"Sometimes to be near you is to be unable to hear you."

"You love somebody
Save their soul
Tie them to your heaven
Erase their hell...
Don't try to change them
You never will."

"You can consume all the beauty in the room."

"Let there be light in this lifetime."

"I can't feel bad about the way I am."

"There was a danger, and the danger was to fall in love."

"Can the child within my heart rise above."

"I hope you find a love..your own designs of love."

Hillary
