New 3CD BBC Recordings
I saw an add from CDXPress in the UK talking about a 3CD FM at the BBC set, which they say will be out the end of Sept. Is this right, is it different from the 2CD set from a few years ago. Anybody know the tracklist?
Terry G. |
I see this set is listed on Amazon UK as well:
Fleetwood Mac at the BBC [BOX SET] Audio CD (September 27, 2004) Number of Discs:3 Label: Sanctuary ASIN: B0002QPTOE Catalogue Number: SMXBX109 No tracklist, though. |
Though i do think it's great that Sanctuary are doing all of these Mac related releases lately, the one thing I hate about them is their refusal to release tracklistings or recording sources before releasing them! :)
Hopefully someone will find out info on this one soon from somewhere and post it. :) John |
Oh, sounds nice!
I hope there will be lots of unreleased BBC material, not the "Live at the BBC" versions ;) |
Thanks for posting. :) I will be keeping an eye on this. I checked the Sanctuary website & they're still listing the old 2 CD version of Live at the BBC. Hopefully, we'll get a hold of the track listing. I'm not buying this until I know what is actually on this box set.
|
Just like you I really hope about some unreleased material, but sadly, I think it is the double Castle Communication cd, plus one cd maybe featuring stuff from "Show-Biz Blues", I mean the 9 April 1970 Radio One In Concert.
But this time I hope I'm wrong. Mario. |
I havent found any...
tracklistings, But I saw a $43 price tag on the "At The BBC" set over at www.cduniverse.com which is a bit outta my pricerange at the moment (Considering I just bought several discs tonite & have more to purchase on Oct.5th)

CD Universe has a release date of October 25th. Amazon U.K. still has a release date of Sept. 27th. Also, it looks like it's a bit cheaper on Amazon-approximately $30.52 in U.S. dollars plus shipping.

Hello everybody!
Glad, to see that I was wrong about the 3cd BBC Recordings: I just had a quick phone talk with Martin Celmins and he told me he wrote the sleeve notes and -great news- there are lots of unreleased tracks! He also confirmed that the box set has been posponed and will not go out next Monday. Mario. |
That's fantastic news about the new set including lots of unreleased tracks, Mario  Sounds like it will be worth the extra wait.
|
That's great news. Thanks, Mario. :) Is there any chance of us seeing the track listing of the CDs?

Mario, when MC says "unreleased", does he mean "not released before in ANY "legal" way"? I just fear that we may have many of the tracks already via tracks 1-5 on disc one (not the "Intro..." obviously but...) on "Vaudeville years", tracks 5-9 on disc one of the 2 CD/1 DVD "Madison blues" and/or tracks 4-13 (and possibly track 19) on "Show biz blues" (not to mention tracks 3-10, disc 2 on SBB which as you've rightly said are obviously from the 4/9/70 Beeb sessions). Though I do appreciate that Martin has been so forthcoming to you with this kind of information, I must admit that I often find his liner notes to these packages vague in terms of what the sources are for the recordings enclosed on these packages (naturally I'm thrilled to have them but further info would be very helpful). Aurally, they sound like BBC tracks to me so I'm just assuming and could be wrong, but I don't want to buy this new one if I have them already. So please do elaborate on this if you could, that would be most helpful. Thanks in advance. :) John |
Well, John, must say that your fears are mine as well.........
Of course you are right about all those tracks both from "Vaudeville Years" and "Showbiz-Blues"; they are BBC tracks which Martin stated as promotional numbers .........but not to me on the phone where he gladed admitted they are Radio recordings! But........there are still a number of BBC recordings never released on official albums, so maybe Martin was talking about them when I spoke with him on the phone yesterday night. Having said that, I think it's fair to say that Martin's sleeve notes are fantastic and obviously a work from his heart! Stay always Green! Mario. |
Thanks Mario, here's hoping, and yeah don't get me wrong, I do like what MC has written in the liner notes he has done on those packages regarding the other stuff (just to be clear), but just wish there was more data on the content source. I am glad that he confirmed to you on the phone that the tracks I listed were in fact BBC recordings. I had a hunch... :)

Fleetwood Mac 3CD BBC set
Has anyone seen this yet? Anybody seen a track listing? Still waiting to see what's on it.

Hello from Italy.
I only know that www.cduniverse.com has next December 27th as the street date. Also Mick Fleetwood was involved in the whole matter...... Cheers, Mario. :) |
Thanks for the info, Mario! I've been checking the Amazon UK website but they have not updated the release date from the old 27 September date. Hope it's not delayed again - another 1-1/2 months is not too long a wait if we really get a lot of previously unreleased tracks.

I saw this link...
on one of the trade sites I use, So I am not sure if this is the tracklisting for the "Live at BBC" set or a previously released set/bootleg (I need to start trading for pre-Rumours era FM to familiar myself more with the live material):

Estranged4life, that track list is from the old Live at the BBC 2-disc set that's been around for a number of years. I see that Amazon US now shows the new (presumably 3-disc) At the BBC set with a release date of 12/27/04.

Ok...

Brian j. ps-While Amazon & CDUniverse list a Dec.27,2004 release date I couldnt find any mention of the "At The BBC" set on http://www.eil.com (A great UK based music company I recommend.) |
I just checked Amazon today and they now show the release date pushed back to 1/31/05. I get the feeling that this may not be the last time the release is delayed....
|
Today was supposed to be the release date but the websites I've checked show it as backordered or discontinued (Amazon UK). No mention of it on the Sanctuary website either. Wonder what's going on with this release? Will it ever see the light of day or has it been shelved?

Somebody posted this on the Fleetwood Mac Legacy message board. I'm not sure where they got this, I assume from some sort of music website or magazine.

Kije Symphonic Suite" -- Wishbone Ash, "Bare Bones" -- Yo-Yo Ma, "Yo-Yo Ma Plays Ennio Morricone" I'm not exactly sure what a dual disc is, but I don't think this album has been shelved. |
Dual disc...

I read about DualDiscs late last year and wondered why it has taken this long for those record industry 'geniuses' to figure out that this concept will sell  |

Judging by the Amazon listings, it does look like these are two separate releases - they're each on a different label. The 3-disc set is due to come out on Sanctuary, while the DualDisc is on Silverline. Still no sign of anything on the Sanctuary website so I think macfan 57 is right that this will be delayed again. Nothing on the Silverline website either but the site looks like it hasn't been updated in a couple of months or more.
I emailed both record companies this evening to see if I can find out any information from them, so if they send me any info on these releases I'll be sure to post it. |

Hello from Italy!
A few days ago I got an email from David King (Pinnacle). So he wrote me that the record company (Sanctuary) has no plans to release the boxset for now. Maybe it will see the light of the day later, this summer. Sorry to disappoint you (and myself too!) Mario. |
