Your favorite fantasy movie

Cartoon or not, those movies we remember from childhood.. or maybe when we were already adults, like Ice Age, a very cool movie. Or Shrek.

My favorites are Beauty& the Beast, Lion King, Ice Age. From the old times, 101 Dalmatians, Aristocats.

Not cartoons, Bedknobs and Broomsticks (though there appear some cartoons, ha). Captain Grant's Children.

Labyrinth, Legend, Neverending Story, that weird french movie that was out about 5? years ago, it looked all dark, it was really good...drat! who knows what i'm talking about? It was real life, not cartoon...
Also i'd like to predict that people will say Lord of the Rings 123, and Harry Potter movies...der....
I think there is more, i just can't remember them..

OH, yeah, i just remembered...Ghost in the Shell, and also that newish one that came out by the super master anime guy of japan, who did princess mononoke, but this wasn't princess...The girl went to find a house with her parents, and they went into this strange land, then her parents were gluttonous so they turned into pigs, then she had to break a weird enchantment and there were all sorts of creatures, and at the end her friend in the enchanted place turned back into the river spirit...
someone please tell me what it's called...

Brotherhood of the Wolf -- Que possible? I loved that movie -- watched it three times before returning it to the video store. If you get it on DVD, switch the audio to the English-dubbed version. It's hysterical! Like watching one of those badly-dubbed Godzilla movies from the '60s -- especially the wolf parts.

Other fave fantasy movies:

Legend - The first scene with Mia Sara in the woods before she meets Tom Cruise always made me think of the "Gypsy" video...

Yellow Submarine - My favorite sequence is the "Northern Song" section ... "When you're listening late at night, You may the the band are not quite right..."

2001: A Space Odyssey - I saw this from the third-row at a summer movie festival in Austin. After the 20-minute psychedelic portion near the end, it took my eyes nearly an hour to re-adjust after leaving the theater.

And finally: Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice!!!

Does anyone remember?

a movie called "Hawk the Slayer" featuring Jack Palance as Voltan, the evil brother to Hawk? The movie was so-so but it had great 80's synth music!!!
and there were some funny bits too...the special effects were a bit cheesy tho..

No! I finally remembered it was Children of the Lost City.
Oh, and thank you, someone, for reminding me, how could I forget The Last Unicorn?! God, I wept. And we always had the book in our house, and I read it when i was 8 or nine, but understood it better later. Same thing with the hobbit, i tried to read it when i was 8 but it was too much. I slogged through it, but didn't remember too much cause it was hard for me to stay focused.

I KNEW I was the only one who remembered Hawk the Slayer......dang

The Dark Crystal. I love the fact that Aughra's dress resembles Stevie's spangly heavy red shawl(circa Red Rocks and recently hauled out again).

irishgrl 09-10-2004 11:50 PM

Oghra or Aughra, or Ogra or ????

(nevermind......I submit)

jadegypsy 09-14-2004 02:04 PM

Nixxxed: I can't believe I forgot Yellow Submarine  , but then again i guess I just catagorize it as cartoon/Beatles stuff. But hey if it fits as Fantasy then it is definatley one of my faves :blob1: :blob2:
