The best song that opened an album

First of all.. yes, I did closed my other thread because I forgot to mark the poll option. Case closed.

Now, let's enjoy it!! What song you considered was the best choice to open its album,

no live albums included. and just Rumours and post-R lineups albums listed in the poll. But as usual, all comments are welcome ;)

dissention 08-26-2004 12:51 PM

Second Hand News. A fab song that opens a fab album.

Villavic 08-26-2004 12:54 PM

Big Love!!!!!

hard decision to me, bu I choose Big Love, a song full of energy. I miss the original style live!

O&O and MM followed closely. In fact they usually choose the right song to open their albums

Ali 08-26-2004 12:57 PM

Actually, my favorite would be "The Chain" off of "The Dance" but I guess I'll vote for "Big Love"

Lala 08-26-2004 01:00 PM

Over & Over is definitely my favorite of all of those, although it's not exactly an upbeat opener song. But I still love it!

GypsySorcerer 08-26-2004 01:09 PM

I voted SHN. Over and Over would be second. I love the coda at the end.

Oooh, yes, I'm with you on that one!

But of the choices, I'm going with SHN. I love the way it fades in & intros the album.

"Doodle eee doo, doodle eee doo...."

Big Love baby!!! YEAH!!!

:blob2:

Serrart 08-26-2004 02:09 PM

Big Love for me too, it's the first Mac song I've ever listened to.

MirrorInTheSky 08-26-2004 02:17 PM

Second Hand News is my first choice.

The Tower 08-26-2004 02:35 PM

"Over and Over" !!! Christine's best Buckingham/Nicks era song. AND it completely defines the dreamy, Cali-pop, laid back vibe that is Tusk. Ya know.... pot, tube-top sundresses, big floppy hats, really tight jeans that identify one's religion ( ).... some of the proceding imagery copyright Amber.

Patti 08-26-2004 02:56 PM

I chose Monday Morning, as it was our first introduction to Lindsey Buckingham (and Stevie Nicks).

Gypsy3 08-26-2004 03:17 PM

"Big Love," closely followed by "Second Hand News"

Good point - I mighta hit that if it was there... :wavey: When i hear those big booms, then that big base, so much fuller than on Rumours, it almost brings me to tears....

You're so cute. I love how you thought that was so funny.... :xoxo:
I saw a tube dress in Victoria's secret - i'm gonna get it...unfortunately,(or, perhaps, fortunately? :p ) it's not see through. And i'm mediocre on the baton

Hands down, "Big Love"... in my opinion.

cliffdweller 08-26-2004 03:50 PM

And might I add that "Over and Over" is the worst song to start any album?

Sorry, but it's a downright yawnfest of a song, and to open with it? What were they thinking?

Hawkeye 08-26-2004 04:00 PM

1. Over and Over
2. What's The World Coming To?
3. Monday Morning
4. Coming Your Way
5. Child Of Mine

An Opener I don't like is Second Hand News :xoxo:

Well, I don't really agree with the "yawnfest" part...but, it really sucks as an album opener. They should've ENDED one of the LP sides with it. They should've opened Tusk with "Honey Hi".

Oh BTW, I voted for "Love In Store"....because it was my favorite of the ones listed.

macfan 57 08-26-2004 04:04 PM

Since "Emerald Eyes" wasn't on the list, I voted for "Second Hand News".

diamondsnake 08-26-2004 04:11 PM

Talking to My Heart is actually a realy nice song and I almost want to vote for it. However, SHN is the one I listen to the most and prob. enjoy the most. It depends on my mood.
Anyone else like Talking to My Heart?

Claudia 08-26-2004 04:19 PM

Me!! And I almost voted for it too... But I ended up voting for 'Over & Over'.

xdreamsunwindx 08-26-2004 04:25 PM

Over and Over is my favorite out of all of those songs, but it just doesn't work as an opener. However, the moody vibe of the song really gives you an idea of what the album is going to be like. I went with Second Hand News because it's so much fun and an excellent opener.

I like the song, a lot, actually...I just didn't think it made that great of an opener. They should've opened Time with "I Do", then had "Talking To My Heart" second.

Two of my fave openers...along with "Heroes Are Hard To Find" & "This Is The Rock", too.

ontheEdgeof17 08-26-2004 04:55 PM

I went with Skies (Sky's) The Limit. I dunno why...just like it as an opener. :D

I'm going to have to go with "Second Hand News" for the fade-in, catchy/upbeatness (Is upbeatness a word? ), and especially for the bam..bam...bams! You got to love those. :p

You know while I don't like this song all that much, I love the way it punches the speakers. I dont like I don't wanna know either, but this does the same effect too!

chiffon head 08-26-2004 06:30 PM

I chose Monday Morning because of the way it it just hits you like, MONDAY
MORNING YOU SURE LOOK FINE!...it's a beginning and the rest of the song (and album) just takes you for a ride right along with it.

I love Over and Over too, but the album is so fragmented. I like it when an album tells a story (like Pink Floyd's stuff does) Am I making any sense here?

O&O would be the worst song to start Rumours or Tango, but it's a good introduction for Tusk. Kind of.. hey, this is what you must expect...

Cristian 08-27-2004 11:11 AM

"Second Hand News", without any shadow of doubt. Yes, "Emerald Eyes" makes up for a fantastic opener, too.

I see your point, but I still think it's a bad choice. I think "Think About Me" would have been a better opener.
