FM Songs You Heard on TV...
I'm just going to list the many, many  times I've heard my namesake on TV.
VH1's "50 Greatest Celebrity Feuds" It plays during the Tonya Harding segment. "I Love the 80's Strikes Back" Plays during the Scruples segment. And... that's it. :D ~~ Any other songs/additions? |
I heard....
Thrown Down and Goodbye Baby on Friends during this past season. It's pretty rare that I do hear FM on TV though. I hear them more in restaurants. I swear, for a while, everytime I went into McDonalds either Little Lies of Everywhere was playing .

Don't Stop was on the Simpsons the time that Bart got hooked on Focusin (like Ridalin) and figured out that Baseball had satelites in space and were watching us (which ended up being true).
He stole a tank and sang Dont' Stop  |
The only one I can immediately think of is when they were using "Go Your Own Way" for Greyhound Bus commercials back in the late 90s.

If we're countingcommercials then GYOW was on Mountain Dew back when.
If we're counting solo, I'll add Stevie's Planets on Charmed and Free Falling on Part Of Five. Somebody at the WB must be a fan. Or for you cynics, it's those Warners ties. ;) - Jake |
Alias had "Songbird," "Bleed to Love Her," and the Smashing Pumpkins cover of "Landslide."
|
There's "Thrown Down" on one episode during the final season of Friends

Dont forget that great THAT 70S Show Promo commercial they ran in 2003 before Say You Will was out...the entire commercial had the song "say you will" playing...and it worked very well actually

O yes and of course Peacekeeper premiering in THIRD WATCH
Landslide in JACK FROST... IF YOU EVER DID BELIEVE and CRYSTAL in Practical Magic One morning on our local atlanta news channel FOX 5 ATLANTA they played GOLD by John Stewart w/ Stevie on background vocals. |
Eva Cassidy's version of Songbird was on As The World Turns a few months back when Mike and Katie had sex. It was a big thing in the soap world because we actually saw his @$$...that's a first for daytime T.V.

I haven't heard any someone hasn't mentioned already, I don't think, but every time I go into a store it'll be playing in the store music. I swear, Safeway, Walgreens, then even Whole Foods and Berkeley Bowl. And then i'll have this weird feeling that i should turn up my radio, or switch stations, then there it is. Or I'll just come home and turn up radio, there it is, or when i just wake up... I swear i have weird, stupid, FM psychic powers :D Amber |
Hey, does Lucy Lawless on Saturday Night Live count?

Don't forget Rhiannon and Don't Stop on all of those late night infomercials for Time Warner's collection of music from the 70s.

Hye this morning I was watching the Daytime Emmys from last year (yes I am a loser...I have it on tape) and they had a montage for As The World Turns, and they played WTWCT...very fitting. The funny thing is that when these aired I wasn't into FM so there was some more exposure without realizing it.

There is a new HBO show that has the Tantric version of The Chain running throughout the length of the commercial

I know I am dating myself, but does anyone remember a Chevrolet commercial around 1980 that used "Think About Me?" I remember feeling deja vu when I first listened to the "Tusk" album a few years later. I think all they used was the "All it took was a special look..." and the background music... I just wonder if I am remembering this correctly!

Two years ago, I heard Hypnotized in a commercial for a double cd entitled oddly enough, Hypnotized. It was a collection of fm rock songs from the late 60's and early 70's.
