The Amazing Race

This is, by far, the best reality show out there. Anyone else watch it? This is the best season so far and the teams are AWESOME. I got a kick out of last nights episode when Kami and Karli dove into the water and swam to the island. Then Phil pointed out that they could've walked though the shallow water like everyone else.

My favorite team would have to be Mirna and Charla, they crack me up. Too many priceless quotes:

"Where's the disco? Oh, look, ask her!"
"I think she's a prostitute."
"Wouldn't a prostitute know where the disco is?"
"Yeah."
"Mirna, let's get outta hear, she's mad because she has work to do."

"I got electrocuted!"

"I'm not fast and quick on my feet! Oh no, what if you have to stick your hand up the cows ass?!"

"Big cartwheel!"

"Just put the meat on my back and go!"

The fact that they make up their Spanish as they go along has me in stitches. "Airporto- whoosh!" And you have to have some gall to approach a Spanish hooker to ask for directions.

GardenStateGirlie 07-21-2004 09:45 AM

And they we're SOOOO dramatic jumping into the water. "LET'S SWIM!!!"

Charla and Mirna.....can I just say that I laugh hysterically at everything they do? "I need a doctoro!" Last night I couldn't help but laugh when the team that raced them to the hill where they'd glide yelled out loud "WE HAVE TO BEAT THE MIDGET!" If I were her, I would have turned around and slapped him

I have to love the home team too...Bob and Joyce live in Mount Laurel, NJ

Violet 07-21-2004 09:48 AM

I LOVE this show! Love it, love it, love it! I haven't picked a favorite team yet. At first it was Mirna and Charla, but last night they turned me off. Maybe they'll redeem themselves to me. When she was telling the agent at the airport that she needed to get to a "doctoro", you know they agent knew they were with the rest of the Americans there. I was sorry to see the father/daughter team go, but they screwed up at the airport bad. I was glad to see Donnie and Allison go last week. They were just annoying....

This isn't exactly splitting hairs: Argentine, not Spanish. Different country, different continent, different hemisphere.

Yes, great show. I want to kick that Christian couple's asses. Hypocrites!

Livia 07-21-2004 10:13 AM

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE THIS SHOW!! Yes, the best reality "contest" show out there!

I'll miss Donny and Alison, only 'cause we loved to hate them so...(Donny to Alison: "You're psycho!"). Alison was like the female version of Wil. Remember how mean he was to Tara? That was some good TV! LOL

LOVE Mirna and Charla!

I love how people in Spanish-speaking countries just add an "o" at the end of everything and think it's Spanish..."airport-o?" Or how they speak English, but with an accent of whatever native language....you know what I mean? "Where eees the airporrrrto?" LOL

I'm liking the new rules - only 2 fast-forward opportunities and the yield option.

I hope Marshall and Lance are the next to go - they're a-holes!

ontheEdgeof17 07-21-2004 10:21 AM

I missed last night's episode, but I have it taped. This show keeps me on the edge of my seat the entire hour. I can't get enough of it. Charla and Mirna are definately a fav, but I also like the Internet Dating Couple, too. I think they are so cute for some reason.

I heard Alison was from the TV show Big Brother which is kind of annoying...seems as though they were paid to be on the show.

What I don't like about the new rules is that if you choose the Fast Forward, you send the team that's in 1st place, back. That really sucks if you're the 1st place team.

Marshall and Lance :distress: I laughed so hard when EVERYONE got the chocolate with the white cream except him

CarneVaca 07-21-2004 10:47 AM

What a waste of chocolate. That killed me!

Lala 07-21-2004 10:49 AM

Definitely my favorite reality show. Everything else seems to be boring or have unbelievable twist after unbelievable twist to try and keep it interesting. Amazing Race is facinating because uh...these people are going around the world. It's definitely the show I'd be on if I had a choice.

I love Mirna and Charla and I hope they win.

Alison came in 2nd place on Big Brother, and I'm sure she took home a few grand for making it that far.

So, the 1st place team goes to last place if you FF them? Or 2nd place? I missed that - I also thought the yield was available on every leg, but I guess not...

Charla and the Chocolate Factory - she almost made a love connection, with the clue-giving dwarf. I loved when Mirna said she'd puke if she ate all that chocolate. I think Marshall/Lance, whoever, ate about 30 pieces before realizing he didn't have to swallow! Wasn't all the chocolate all over the ground a clue? LOL

LOL, yes. I was liking those guys until last night. They were getting rude.

Livia 07-21-2004 12:06 PM

I think the casting directors thought Marshall/Lance would be more like Kevin and Drew from the first AR season...sadly, they are not...they are Ugly Americans...

BTW, Kevin and Drew have their own show called "Unleashed" on Discovery. It's like a male version of "The Simple Life," but not as funny. I've only watched the first one though, maybe it's gotten better.

 I was going to say Argentinian hooker, but I wasn't sure if that was the exact name.

And, yes, those two are incredibly annoying. He reminds me of Sideshow Bob. And if I hear them say "We'll win because we're competitive" one more time, I'll gag.

The thing that cracked me up was how Charla said "Airport-o?" then made and hand gesture and went "Whoosh!" I was dying. I couldn't stop laughing when Mirna couldn't hold the beef, but Charla picked it up and ran with it on her back for two blocks.

The Pizza Putzes drive me bonkers. They're so lazy and obnoxious.

Did you see Colin laughing hysterically when Charla was trying to eat the chocolate and stay on top of the stool with Mirna yelling at her to eat the stuff? And then after she got the white piece she bolted off the chair and ran towards the dwarf while trying to keep the hat on.

What about last nite when they refused to run to the parasailing gondola? Ummm, hello? It's a RACE!

And Brandon can't be Sideshow Bob, cuz Zach got that title (Remember Flo and Zach?). I call Team Christian "Team Blue Lagoon!" LOL

Clue-giver dwarf should have been dressed as an oompa loompa!

Josh2003 07-21-2004 03:02 PM

Such an amazing show (I think thats how it got its name...) This is one of the very few reality shows that I would apply to be on.

I missed the second episode, so I've only seen the two, and I can't really decide who I like at this point. I know that I DON'T like Lance and Marshall, and I'm not really sure how I feel about Charla and Mirna.

I also feel like Brandon and Nikki should release a sex tape. I would be all over that. Too bad they're hardcore Christians.

According to Ann Coultergeist, Christians are the ones with the freakiest and most satisfying sex lives. ;)

Charla and Mirna kill me, they really are the comic relief and they kick ass. People really underestimated them and they're whooping ass.

That's it! I kept thinking that he reminded me of one of the munchkins, but I knew that wasn't right.

I kept saying I'd be volunteering in a heartbeat for chocolate roadblock, but then I got to thinking maybe they made it taste bad.

I'm glad they brought the show back for another season. It almost didn't make it...

Carol

I was thinking that maybe it wasn't too sweet? They all looked like they were going to be sick after the first few bites. I don't know why some of them decided to eat it instead of spitting it out on the ground

Johnny Stew 07-22-2004 01:34 AM

I love 'Amazing Race'!
I caught the last couple episodes of Season 3, and thought that if they did another one, I'd watch from the beginning... which is exactly what I did last year, for Season 4.

I didn't miss an episode, and by the end of the season, i was watching every episode on the edge of my seat. *lol*
Plus, it ROCKED that the team I was rooting for... Reichen & Chip (is anyone surprised?)... won! :D

So, yeah, this has become my favorite reality show, and really the only one I'll actually watch from start to finish every week.

Right now, I'm rooting for the Bowling Moms (Linda & Karen) and the older internet-dating couple (Bob & Joyce).

I was THRILLED that Allison & Donny went last week, and I was really hoping that Marshall & Lance would go this week... so I'll be rooting for their demise until they're gone. *lol*

Brandon & Nicole are annoying me with their hypocrisy... but, Brandon is just so friggin' cute, that I can't hate him. I don't want him to win, but I'm enjoying the eye-candy! :o

That was SO funny! When the clue-giver guy saw Charla, you could practically see little hearts beaming from his eyes, like in cartoons.

I wonder if he slipped his phone number in with the clue!

Oh, lord. When Brandon and Nicole were standing in line trying to get Jim and Marsha to buy them tickets, he was chewing gum like he was Angus the cow and looking around like he was the biggest asshole this side of Washington. And when he lied to Charla and Mirna about waiting, and how he and Nicole gave them those nasty looks once Jim and Marsha bought them their tickets. Grrr. I can't wait to see them gone!

Bob and Joyce are *sooooooooo* cute. Joyce has such a great and outgoing personality, she's very fun to watch. They rock!

The Bowling Moms pissed me off when they set Jim and Marsha up at the bank; that was low. But they got what was coming to them when they got to cemetery and Charla and Mirna left them in the dust.

I think the thing that put me over the top was when they showed a clip of the moms going "Yeah!" and pumping their fists in the air right after it showed Jim and Marsha at the bank saying they've been screwed. Yeah, it was shrewd editing, but it was effective.

In any case, Charla and Mirna are my favorites. They slay me every time they're onscreen. "Airport-o...whoosh!"

They just remind me of every soccer mom that's ever cut me off in a mini-van. Definately effective. I don't want them to win.

A huge hunk that weighed fifty pounds, no less. ;) Her cousin who's normal sized couldn't even carry it, but she did it on her freakin' back. Nothing beats that.
