What Mac stuff DON'T you want your friends to see?
 

I've been inspired by the "weird Stand Back dancing guy" thread. There's so many Mac things I want my friends/casual fans to see or hear so they know how great the Mac is, like the LIB DVD, or Stevie Live in Concert, or the SYW CD, or Rosebud Rhiannon, etc.

But there are a few thing I DON'T want them to see or hear, for fear they'll think it's bad/stupid/hilarious, etc.

Here's my list:

Stand Back on SNL or Solid Gold (dancing guy is just too ridiculous.) :laugh:

LB giving oral to his mike on the Mirage DVD during Not That Funny :eek:

The song Family Man (it's just begging to be made fun of by the casual listener) :o Actually, let's throw in When I See You Again too (all those "baby's" - I can barely handle it.)

Edge of 17 from Live in Red Rocks (I think the cry at the end would just be too much for them to take!) :nod:

I guess I don't want my friends to see the collection of "non-released" tapes, cds and videos that I have collected along the way. I'll add magazines to the list as well. :shocked:

I took my boss to the Holmdel show back in May and, during the whole way up, I kept having to "prepare" him for Mick's vest solo. Even though it was a good 2 hours into the show, I had to make sure he was ready for it. Of all the great things FM has to offer, especially during that show, afterwards, we agreed that was, by FAR, the low-point of the show. But even the Lindsey solos that a casual fan may think are excessive, impressed my boss. So, overall, I'd have to say the #1 "Mac & Friends No-No" is Mick's drum/vest solo. :eek:

The thing I would most not want friends to see is my bedroom (posters all over the walls, framed album covers, etc).

- Mirage SOTM - Not sure they could handle it

- Stevie's nervous & uninspired 1994 appearance on Leno

- The 1990 versions of GDW, with the endless "Running in the shadows...shhhhaadows" refrain

- Edge from Red Rocks - Never met anybody who liked the "Singin' it to YA" line

- Mirage concert Gypsy - Stevie's a zombie

- Mick's solo!!! Need I explain? :shrug:

- Stevie Nicks Fanatic episode - My friends who watched with me still tease me that 87% of the show was devoted to Bryan Adams

- These Strange Times :( :( :(

- Any OSOTM concert on video, she was a zombie

- Any Gold Dust Woman from the OSOTM tour :eek:

- Any drum solo from Mick

- Any shot of Mick in the Mirage video, he's gross looking

- Certain shots of Lindsey in the Mirage video; I want to introduce them to the Mac, not showcase Lindsey's package

- The Sometimes It's A Bitch video, she wasn't looking her best

- Say You Will on LIB...it's so blah....

Throw in any of the Mask videos for the same reason.

I try to hide the background musicians some I guess...my aunt, who I always like to play Mac stuff (who was a casual fan in the 70s and 80s) calls them "Cheaters" but shes just like that lol....it annoys me when my friends say Lindsey isnt playing guitar or Mick isnt playing drums so I try to hide those people lol

Someone explain! I've never seent the Mirage video.

I have stevie pictures up, so i'm a bit embarrassed when people ask for an explanation...but not enough to take them down. For me it's more like i'm embarrassed about when i have my concerts - usually at least a few times a week. And how loud and often i sing the same cheesy (to others) songs. I usually close all my windows. I feel sorry for my downstairs neighbors and possibly my other neighbors who i know can hear very well. I mean, how many times do non-mac fans want to hear SB or Edge, or BC, or SW or SS or SDMHA or Insider, or ..... I usually hope someone doesn't come up my stairs while i'm doing this. :shocked:

And they're referring to Lindsey's close-ups where his lips are basically on the microphone.

See, Mick in the Mirage video was one of the only things I COULD show my friends in high school, they always thought having a roadie whose sole duty was to pour beer down his throat while still drumming was pretty rock and roll!

Love in Store off Mirage is too keyed down. Chris sounds too much like a man.

Mick's dumb solo is ridiculous, I won't let myself watch it. Especially the one off of "Tango In the NIght" Video.

Whoever said Gyspy off of MIrage tour, that's a good call too. It's not good live. And Stevie's voice is too husky as well on that one. Although I love showing her on SOTM. She blows me away with that satanic scatting.

Then there's "Dancing Alone", the vocal tracks from the Dance w/o back-up. Ouch all three of them sound tired and flat. Thank God for sound engineers and pitch controlled production!

Wow, that is cool. I think i'll pay one of the honyock neighbor kids to do that for me. They're probably already doing it for their parents, but for free :D

- The entire Red Rocks DVD. I don't mind it, even though Stevie sounds like the fourth chipmunk. Plus, Edge is so long and annoying...

- The Stevie Nicks answering machine message :laugh:

- My Irvine Meadows bootleg from The Dance tour. The band sounds TERRIBLE.

Call me naive, but why is the post-Lindsey line up on the cover of the Mirage tour?

Stevie handing her tambourine to a clearly confused President Clinton at the inauguration. Then Michael Jackson jumps on the stage. :rolleyes:

She doesn't sound human on the Red Rocks vid, seriously. Actually, she sounds like one of those forgotten chimpanzees. Awful. But I still love that vid. Her voice is so shot on the uncut RR boot that she sounds like an off-key James Spader.

And they also sound atrocious on the Dancing Again boot. Ugh.

For some reason, I don't think Stevie will look back fondly on Jacko in her autobiography. :laugh:

He jumped up onstage and stole the spotlight. He practically threw her over the edge of the stage.

I hate that guy! I think i vaguely remember the image. I didn't know i was a mac fan then (though i was) and i still don't like "don't stop" Stupid Michael Jackson. Well, at least we now know pretty much for sure that Billie Jean was NOT his lover.... :lol:

Yes, obviously.... :) and you can add "little" billy to make it more exact. Gaw, first he tries to upstage stevie, then he molests young boys...will the man stop at no heinous act? What's he gonna do next, buy the Beatles music, or have an album that unseats Rumours as the best selling of all time? :mad: :lol:

I love my Lindsey - but I hate showing pics of beard & kimono Lindsey. Ewww! Lindsey started to get hot for me in the Mirage era.

He signed my Rumours CD and I wanted to show people what he looked like so I had to bring along the SYW CD just so they'd know I wasn't into the beard & kimono look.

She looked totally pissed off at him. And Clinton was looking at the tambo like "WTF?"

Some more:

- The "Don't **** with my people!" version of HAEWAFY....Not the best impression to give someone who's never heard Stevie before :laugh:

- Any audio of Christine from the Behind The Mask tour...sorry, she sounded like a man!

- Billy and Rick's mullets (C'mon, they ARE mullets. They aren't Billy Ray Cyrus bad, but they're mullets none-the-less :laugh: )

- As stated before, Mick's "vesturbation" (Copyright ChiliD)

- The Melbourne 1980 bootleg.....With Lindsey all f*cked up and sounding horrible.

Yeah, those kimonos and all that hair was pretty fugly.

I like this version. Never cared for it on the album. :shrug:

I agree. However, Alvin, Simon, and Theodore would have been better suited as the backups.... ;)

No way. I don't see Theodore doing Elisecia's Gospel HAEWAFY. And Simon & Alvin would look ridiculous with Lori & Sharon's big hairstyles.

I never want my friends to see Stand Back on Red Rocks. But I don't get why Edge would be embarrasing, I think it rocks
