Wedding Menu RSVP

You're invited to a wedding.
Do you check that you want the filet mignon, the cornish hen, or the salmon?
I usually go for the fish.

Filet Mignon!!!

GypsySorcerer 07-13-2004 10:42 PM

Naturally. There are few things worse than a wedding with bad cake.
But first you need to pick an entree!
(Unless you want the salmon cake. )

I'd go for the salmon and then the hen.

Me too. I like chicken, but I prefer boneless.

For an entree, I'll pick those wedding mints. Yummy. :)

No way. I would have let it slide had you said chocolate covered strawberries, but mints? It's like eating toothpaste after the cap has been left off the tube overnight.

If the "beef" entre is truly filet, then hell yeah, I would go for the filet! Unfortunately, most of the time I see "beef" on a wedding menu, it has turned out to be something like prime rib. In that case, I would go for the fish.

I'm definitely talking fillet. The brides family is rich. ;)

MM...good choices and considering I'm living in a crappy dorm room in DC and haven't had food that was not out of a box or can or something all summer....can I choose all of the above? I'll take the chicken and Salmon home for later....the Filet Mignon...I'll eat first :D

DeeGeMe 07-14-2004 07:41 AM

I'd go with the salmon.

ryan8472 07-14-2004 08:02 AM

Give me the salmon any day. Well, the Fillet might be good, but the salmon is always reliable, where as I have to be in the right mood for a steak.

skcin 07-14-2004 09:40 AM

Definitely Filet. I don't have it that often, andI eat chicken a lot. I'm not a huge fan of fish in general.

Paula

Patti 07-14-2004 09:47 AM

In order, first the filet, then the salmon, then the chicken. I do like all 3, though, so I would be happy with any of them.

hayley 07-14-2004 10:09 AM

Where's the vegetarian option? I'd probably go for that. A nice pasta. Or a nicer fish than salmon, like tilapia or something.

Salmon's too oily and fatty, chicken at dinners like that are normally gigantic 1/4 chickens with bones and skin and crap, and normally they will only cook the filet/steak for everyone at the same temperature level, and I cannot handle anything under medium well.

I'm so picky!!

Are you still in shape or has this diet caught up with you?

I find salmon to be pretty reliable too, but I always think of the movie airplane where the people get sick from the fish.

I'm the opposite - no red meat for me.

I've been to weddings where other people at the table give me food off their plates because I like the food so much. So really, I guess I've found that the choice doesn't always have to matter.

I think of beef as much fattier than salmon.

The only wedding you have to go to is your own. I'll send the bride and groom a check if I like them, and eat OUT!

Salmon cakes are delish. I'll have that. Actually, my friend had a party last month for her 30 birthday (same as Stevie's) and getting her master's, and that's what the choices were, essentially. The salmon was really good. :woohoo:
Then, though I normally would've picked the chocolate brownie thing, I got creme brulee, cause i have never had it.

The food is the best part of a wedding. Sorry, I'm a romantic.

I never had a salmon cake until last year. It does seem that salmon is a craze in this country right now. I don't remember seeing it on so many menus fifteen years ago.
"But I didn't HAVE the salmon mousse."

Aaah, you're getting older. In high school and college I worked out every day. In the years since I work out...less. :(

Perhaps cause people started to realize how important Omega 3 fatty acids are. also salmon has some other nutrient that only it has. Only other place besides fish to get omega 3 is flaxseed oil, and walnuts. And it is a VERY important nutrient. Fascinating, right?

Yeah, but the big talk this year has been that farm-raised salmon is bad for you.

I know, it's so hard to keep up with the nutritional trends. But when i buy salmon at whole foods, i checked to make sure i was helping deplete the Alaskan ocean portion... ;) I'm glad we have the opportunity to discuss these important, scintillating issues...

And she'll ask you to leave since we opted out of going with the boardwalk-wear theme & she'll think you're the entertainment. :wavey:

Sorry, they go where I go. And they don't have thick plastic rims & photo-grey lenses, so they're not really boardwalk-wear.
