Do you dress like Stevie?

At concerts?

golden braid 05-31-2004 10:41 PM

Yes I have and I have a lot of fun doing it. I normally never dress up so it's a nice change once in awhile.

earthdreamer 05-31-2004 10:59 PM

I never have, but when I was a little girl, I used to dress up in my older sisters dresses, and use this flimsy sheets as my cap and I would play her albums and pretend I was in concert, singing into my brother's telescope.

Such a dork.

darklinensuit 05-31-2004 11:21 PM

No.
I don't wear the same outfit to every show. ;)

I dress Stevie-ish, not in the full blown Rhiannon dress. I tried wearing "Stevie boots" at a concert but they KILLED my feet!! Never again.

Such a brat.

I've seen people who dress like her, had their hair permed to death  like her, and those people are scary  I saw a girl in the exact platform high
heels Stevie wears and I was like in awe, not that I would wear them, but they were beautiful, but anyway, I guess it's cool to dress up for the concert but some these girls, well need to give it up to put it softly

I have dressed Stevie-ish at 2 shows & had a great time. I got a ton of compliments. I don't think anyone should "give it up", why the hell should they if they're having fun? Stevie has said in interviews that if it makes people happy to dress in her style, that makes her happy, so go for it. :]

I've only been to one concert so far, but I'll be wearing some chiffon of my blue jeans 13 days, 7 hours, and 4 minutes from now! :D

darklinensuit 06-01-2004 11:04 AM

There was a woman in the front at the Dallas show, and she looked EXACTLY like the Bella Donna cover. The hair alone had me gawking. (No, she did not hold a bird.)

at the TSIL tour show at the Smirnoff "Parking Garage" I saw someone in a dress identical to the one on the TISL front cover, Even her hair was identical (I also saw one of the most beautiful women in my whole life at that show, She looked like a younger brunette version of Stevie in the black dress and spiked pumps, Only sexier!!!)

Btw, I look more at home at an Anthrax show than I do at a Stevie/Mac show

Pisces Queen 06-01-2004 02:22 PM

I have dressed up in the past. I didn't go the whole nine yards but it was fun. I wore a crushed velvet black top with sleeves like Stevie's top she worn in the Dance with lots of turquoise jewelry and instead of a skirt I wore jeans and a belt with black sandal platforms. They only complaint was the guy behind me who was blinded every time my bat wings went flying. (which was the entire concert)

Could you imagine if she was holding a bird? I wonder if she could have got it into the venue?

I dress like John, I wear a hat.

DeeGeMe 06-02-2004 06:38 AM

I like boots (but only in the winter and without the platform heels). I love shawls and wraps (but only when I'm wearing evening clothes) and I adore long, floaty skirts, and always have. So I've got some common ground with Stevie but I wouldn't say I dress like her.

I saw this woman too.

It's fun for me when people dress up like Stevie at concerts because it's so damn entertaining to watch. I secretly envy their "ballsyness" but I would never show up to a show in full Stevie regalia even though a part of me would kind of like to

I did have my hair cut into a Stevie shag from the 70's two summers ago. It was my favorite haircut of all time because my hair cooperated so well--- it's blonde and wavy, perfect for a shag.

I also wear "Stevieish" type clothes, but nothing with bat sleeves, that's just going too far!

Lorraine 06-03-2004 04:49 PM

Yes, when I am gigging with my band. I wear the (Mirage) era stuff, minus the shawls, but yeah I wear the platforms, me being 4ft 11 inches I need the platforms ha ha.

Its good fun, and I'm sure Stevie won't mind me stealing her image for a while. I also have the chiffoney scarves tied to my tambourine but I don't go for the ballet, high kicks stuff. I also tie the scarves to my microphone stand like Stevie does, everyone loves it. I tell people why I am doing it if they ask and I tell them MY IDOL IS STEVIE NICKS.

Drag isn't my thing either, Jimmy, but I wouldn't say it's "wrong."

Different doesn't equal wrong, and don't forget that this world is filled with people from all walks of life... and we can learn quite a lot from people who aren't exactly like us. :)

Sorry "wrong" was a bad choice of words but different just doesn't cut it.

Even "odd" would be better than "wrong."
Like I said, drag isn't my thing either... but to each his own.

Just try to keep in mind that there are a lot of different types of people on this message board, and everyone deserves respect (and not to be told that how they live their lives is wrong). :)

I have to Stevie solo shows and have had a blast. There's something to be said for really being a part of the strange community of people who just love Stevie that much.
I don't for FM shows, simply because people don't get into it in the same way. Plus, you know, you don't really want to freak the bandmembers out if you happen to end up at the stage.

The Beginning of Fans Dressing Like Stevie

From "My 25 years in Fleetwood Mac" By Mick:

"When Fleetwood Mac finally did tour during the summer of 1976, it was a different world. Playing stadiums in tandem with their friendly rivals, the Eagles, Fleetwood Mac would look out from the stage and see a new generation of fans: thousands of young girls in black top hats and lots of chiffon - Stevie's stage costume. When Stevie came out and announced, "This is a song about a Welsh witch," these ladies went mad with delight, like a human sea of swaying lace."

It must have been fun to have been in the audience with those ladies back then!

Well.......

I never have. I might wear black to the shows, but I wear black all the time. I guess that doesn't count. I think it is very flattering to Stevie to do this, and it is truly neat to see people dressed in different eras of Stevie. But, correct me if I'm wrong, it seems like I have read or heard that Stevie doesn't like it when people dress like her at concerts. That is another reason I haven't dressed up like her for shows. I thought about it a few times, and I would always come back to this thought. I wouldn't want to offend her. Has anyone else heard or read this too? :(

estranged4life 06-12-2004 01:47 PM

Nope...

that's a new one to me. Seems she would be more annoyed with those who are into the craft who dress like Stevie because they assume she is "a witch" too.

GretaRhiannon 06-15-2004 07:38 PM

Yeah I dress like her at concerts...but then again I dress like her every day heh.
