Yes Karen Johnston is part of the "old school" Stevie camp..lol.. she's Stevie's personal assistant, and rarely leaves her side

Her sister Kristen Johnston also helps from time to time

Like I said in the other thread, Do You mean the wicked bitch of the west from Destiny Rules. That Karen annoyed me so much. I just kept saying "Stevie do you think you could knock her out of the plane without a parachute on the way to one of the cities on the tour. She was just always by Stevie's side watching everyone. And YOU KNOW Lindsey wanted to strangle her a few times. The biggest fight they showed on DR (I'm sure there were bigger they didn't show us) was because of Miss. Karen.

Yeah, I don't see why Stevie would need her around that much, people like that look like hangers on, just with a title.

~~~Karen's sister, Kelly, was Stevie's assistant dating back to at least The Other Side of the Mirror Tour. In fact she was held for drug possession when she was with Stevie in the UK back around that time.

She should just have her manager doing Karen's work, or something, you think?

I'm sure Karen was already around when Kelly was her assisitant... didn't Stevie thank Karen for looking after her 'Phoenix Home' ?

What a different world it is for FM than it was say, in 1975. These days everyone has to go through everyone's manager or their assistant in order to get things done.... Must be frustrating at times. All they had to do back in the old days was chit chat over a bottle of wine and decisions were made - wa - la! ;)

Hi Pip, I'm sure you're right about that. I know Stevie also had a live-in cook at the time who was also a fan of hers. Do you know how Kelly met Stevie? Kelly was the person who delivered Fed-Ex to Stevie's Phoenix house. I always thought that was so interesting how some people come into Stevie's life and then stay.

Yeah, that was one thing that made me shake my head about the doc. They start to fight and Lindsey is immediately calling his manager, as Stevie throws everything onto Karen. Actually kind of sad.

I wanted to be like, "Karen, sweetie. Just let them work it out by themselves!" It almost seemed like she was making it worse for a moment. However, I know that she has Stevie's best interests at heart and that she knows Lindsey very well. I'm sure that wasn't the first time something like that happened and I doubt it'll be the last either.

Y'all lare so funny :cool: I totally did not get anything like these bad Karen Johnson thoughts. In DR, it looked to me like KJ was there to back Stevie up in her explanations to LB, in other words, Stevie was scared LB would not believe her. But, this is a great example of how people can see the same thing and walk away with many diff. tbhoughts about it :laugh:

Moreover and for the record, I think it would be HEAVEN to have a personal assistant :laugh:

See, but this is the thing...if Stevie didn't want her imput, she'd say so. It's part of her job and she's doing it so I don't have a problem with it. But yes, I'd say it wasn't the first time she and Lindsey have had words with one another. IMO, I think Lindsey wants Stevie to fight her own battles and not do it through someone else. I think that was part of the reason he was getting so frustrated in that clip.

It's kind of neat when you're rich & famous ... you can pay people to do just about everything for you!

I think you're right!! It sounds like some of their disagreements can get intense!!

I'm telling ya, did you see when they were in rehearsals and LB couldn't stay until 10, they did a cut away, and all of a sudden Mick was standing in the middle of all of them. :eek:

Mick's not in the band to be the drummer and founder, he's really the tall body guard guy.

I think so, too. I think he's just not in the mood at that point to discuss intense band business with personal assistants. He probably wants Karen to excuse herself, which she should have done.

Bands are really funny because the people in them act differently from the way they would outside the band. The band environment tends to concentrate emotions, to funnel them. Most band members detest talking "through" outsiders, or having their messages relayed from one person to another. When a lot of bands rehearse or record, they rely on a No Guests policy. Egos are fragile & tempers flare, & it's really best when band members don't bring tag-alongs (with the possible exception of seeing eye dogs).

I can certainly see why he wouldn't want to. Just think about all the information that would become altered and skewed as the message passed down a line of other people. Again, another reason why they chose to record in neutral territory. Can you imagine them recording in Lindsey's house? :lol:
