Nissan show cancelled???

I just read online (burnish.net) that someone said that the Nissan show tomorrow night has been cancelled tomorrow and will not be rescheduled...Has anyone heard any confirmation on this?

STOP SMOKING, STEVIE!

I hope she gets well soon. :)

Gypsy-Rhiannon 05-25-2004 02:17 PM

Must be bad for them to cancel a show. Shame it's her birthday show. Get well soon Stevie!

CarneVaca 05-25-2004 02:22 PM

Hmmm... could this mean she really is sick after all!?

Merf 05-25-2004 02:48 PM

:( :( :( This is horrible! I am so sorry for the fans who were planning on going to this show. It certainly sounds serious if they're cancelling gigs. I hope she gets on the mend soon. Does anyone know the status of any other shows this week?

rezamatic 05-25-2004 02:54 PM

not Stevie

DAMMIT, this is what I was wondering when I posted that thread earlier today!

It's not because of Stevie, it's because of the damn cicada swarm! From what I hear it's pretty bad down in Virginia, to the point where they are littering the ground. I live in Maryland, and it's bad enough. Nissan's very wide open, so they might have fire code problems with all those things on the stage near the lights. Before everyone gets too worked up over Stevie, I'd be willing to bet that the reasons don't go further than that.

This SUCKS. And it's funny how they'd wait until last minute like that to announce the cancellation. Man, this totally ruins my week...

I'm so sorry, and believe me, I know the feeling. On the Tango tour, I bought front row seats for $75 apiece (sounds cheap today, huh?), flew from LA to Austin, only to hear on the radio the SAME morning of the concert that it had been postponed. So, one way to look at it? This isn't really last-minute. Cancellations due to illness can't be predicted. And I'm sure it has more to do w/ Stevie's voice, not the bugs.

wondergirl9847 05-25-2004 03:26 PM

Sorry...

To all the fans who planned to go to this show. :( PLEASE, get well soon, Miss Stevie!!

Livia 05-25-2004 03:31 PM

This is the second time this has happened to me. Unlucky venue, I guess. Back on "The Dance" tour, Nissan Pavilion was the very last stop of the tour (from what I can remember) and at the time that was big news because I don't think people thought they would tour again as the whole quintet. I had just gotten into the band and had never seen them before and was so excited to be able to catch them just once before they 'retired'. I had a friend of mine buying us tickets - and I found out as I was waiting for him to call so I could leave for the show that he couldn't get them. I guess that's as 'last-minute' as it gets. Oh well. I was fortunate enough to see them already last year, so I don't want to seem bratty  . Hope Stevie's enjoying the night off!

In regards to the cicadas post - my theory is this: Stevie's been feeling sick, but they still agreed to do as many dates as possible and fight through it. Better to scrap one song than cancel a show. But when they found out just how bad the swarm is and that Nissan may run into problems, they went ahead and just said 'screw it, let's take a night off and recuperate a bit.' Haha I'm sure it has a lot to do with the illness also, but I wouldn't be surprised if this is the only stop they cancel, unfortunately. Don't wanna seem pessimistic, but that's just my two cents.

Haha maybe a nice juicy cicada is what Stevie needs to heal up her vocal chords!

WelshWitchPMD 05-25-2004 05:32 PM

:( Get well soon Stevie!

I feel really bad for people planning on going to this show. That is not good.

Rumours 05-25-2004 06:45 PM

I feel for everybody that was supposed to go to this show!!!
I'm so sorry they cancelled.

I hope Stevie feels better soon....

And please God don't let them cancel Pittsburgh or Cleveland!!!!!

Stephanie

Janis_no1 05-25-2004 07:03 PM

oh dear i didn't even know stevie was sick!! When did this news break?

Rumours 05-25-2004 07:09 PM

I have no idea...I haven't been keeping up.

But from what I can gather, apparently Stevie's been having vocal problems....Silver Springs was the next victim to get booted from the setlist (possibly temporary??) because she was having problems singing it.....and now that Nissan has been called off due to a band member illness, the assumption I think is that it must be Stevie and something is still bothering her.

Do I have this right??????

Stephanie

Janis_no1 05-25-2004 07:20 PM

yes "rumours" you can say that. Makes sense.

Elizabeth 05-25-2004 07:55 PM

Maybe Stevie just wanted to see the last American Idol performances? :)

Rumours 05-25-2004 08:14 PM

Nah....she's celebrating up a storm for her birthday!!!!!

Ooops, maybe I shouldn't say "storm" the way the weather has been acting lately!!!!

Hopefully (not hopefully...but you know what I mean) she is just sick and not having vocal problems in itself. I don't see how she could have been fine throughout the zillions of shows last year, and then do 5 shows after a 2 month break and be unable to sing. There's a "throat bug" going around right now...I've got it! Or, it could all come back to those damn cigarettes..... (Isn't it AWFUL...the power they have over people?! :( )

Vianna 05-26-2004 06:44 AM

It's definitely cancelled-I checked three websites, 2 of them official band sites... :(

I am crushed -I so wanted to hear Sara, especially-I've never heard it live except as a recording..

On the other hand, I wouldn't want for Stevie to be out there singing when she should be recuperating and I've a feeling it's going to be a wet humid night from the start of the day today-wet and humid! which of course isn't good for anybody's voice..

Vianna

whitesoxx 05-27-2004 04:15 AM

Let's hope Stevie *finally* learns from this and decides never to do an outside venue tour again. Look what happened on the TISL-tour!

...Has Stevie started smoking again? When did this happen  :distress:

OMG - LauraTN! Where have been, girl? Good to see again!

Well, apparently some people w/ the platinum package saw Stevie smoking onstage during a sound check.

Actually, it was through a hole in the back of the fence at Chastain Park in Atlanta. I was not one of the one who saw it.

LauraTN 05-27-2004 12:03 PM

Ohhh Jezzz!

I would hope that Stevie would have better sense than that, but who knows maybe it wasn't a cig. I don't know if I trust seeing something through a peep hole though
Anyhooo Livia, I've just been busy being a married woman with an almost two year old...living in SOUTHFREAKINDAKOTA! Sam has a webpage if you want to check it out.

it's possible...we were looking through the gate on the side near the entrance, right off the road...there were also some girls over there who had climbed on top of the gate to look and snap a few photos

I was a little past that - I was actually at the back of the area looking through that wooden fence. That would have been hysterical if we had chatted and then later realized OMG - that was him

when you are looking at the stage from back there, I was essentially standing in front of LB. So, I think we were so standing next to or right by each other!!!!!!! I was in a black short sleeve shirt and green linen pants. That is too funny!!!!!!!!!

Yeah, it dries out your vocal chords and makes your throat hurt.

I saw that Aretha tidbit on Pop-Up Video.
