no, i refuse.
this Stand Back clip calls me to go to the states to see them, but i won't! i am not a nicksoholic and i can, and will resist the temptation.
no. i bought a pc this week and i still wanna get to amsterdam next month, i can't afford all this, and i certainly don't desire slaving myself the entire summer. this stand back tiny devil's standing on my shoulder calling me to go, but NO! i'm gonna bite his head off if he doesn't stop bugging!

tommer 05-21-2004 01:27 PM

Wow! Amazing! The song Stand Back gets better with age and has been great this tour.

I do like Stand Back, but it is not one of my favorites, maybe because it got a little too much airplay back in the day. Also, does it bother anyone else that Stevie gets a song from her solo career in the set but not Lindsey?

ShangriLaTroubl 05-21-2004 02:16 PM

I'm sure the reason they decided to have Stevie do Stand Back was to give her a more upbeat/fun song to do...most of her mac songs, while many are incredible--arent exactly upbeat..

I'm kinda glad Lindsey didn't do GO INSANE this time
I could also do without BIG LOVE

I decided to go ahead and watch "Stand Back." I figured that since streaming videos always play so choppy for me, given my dial-up connection, when I watch the performance on the DVD in June, it'll be a completely different experience!

Anyway, from what I could see of it, it was amazing! Stevie was twirling harder and faster than I've seen since the 'Red Rocks' video, and she sounded great.
I was also surprised how intimate the show looked to me... I wasn't expecting that at all.

Thanks for the heads-up, Pip! :D

It kind of surprises me that they didn't add one of Lindsey's solo songs too, but he does have more songs in the setlist than Stevie, as well as having more opportunities in the set for him to "rock out"... so "Stand Back" helps to balance that. :)

Me either ~ throws a fit  :blob1: :(

ShangriLaTroubl 05-21-2004 03:06 PM

Seemed kinda intimate to me too...as if I was watching the show standing on the stage or something---I guess that effect comes from when they filmed the one show for 1000 or so people....Only us diehard fans would ever know that I'm sure--but I can tell the audience shots that are from the real show, and the shots that are from the 1000-ppl audience...sometimes no1 will be standing at the stage, and then they are there..and its like WHERE DID THEY COME FROM? Lol

Sounds great--looks very authentic...unlike Tango and Red Rocks...and has more of an actual concert feel than the dance did...so thats good..and i've only seen 3 songs so far

I'd love to Big Love dropped and replaced with something from Out of the Cradle. ;)

Oh man! I'm at work right now but I can't wait to go home and watch those!

sparky 05-21-2004 04:39 PM

This is quite an excellent Stand Back.

wondergirl9847 05-21-2004 04:48 PM

Looks great!!

This looks terrific!!! I'm comparing this to the Dance, since I've seen it a bajillion (and one. LOL) times. The Dance is very unreal looking, those people are so lame, it's disgusting. I guess they were afraid they'd be caught clapping or screaming, God forbid. THIS is a REAL show because REAL fans were there with real love for this band. :)

BTW, I'm not saying FM sucks on the Dance, I'm saying the audience sucks. LOL This show looks more like a show that I went to, not something that was invite only. Can't wait to see the entire thing....a bajillion (and one) times. ;)

I'll die if I'm on this DVD. I was jumping up and down like a five year old who was just given McDonalds. And I looked like **** run over twice. And I should be clearly visible because I was in the front, leaning against the stage.

However, the girl next to me should make for a good laugh if you can see her; she was drunk as a skunk, cried every time Lindsey came over to her side, and kept trying to touch his feet. She was successful once, too.

ryan8472 05-21-2004 05:59 PM

I'm really liking these clips right now!!! Thx for posting the link! Stevie looks like she's really getting into Stand Back. And Say You Will is cute, with all the glances at LB and the air guitar. :)

Didn't you say that we could see you during Second Hand News (when they played the clip on New Years Eve)?

I think that it's me, but I can't be positive because the one that I saw was pretty bad quality (I didn't see it on TV that night). If it's me when I get hte DVD, I'll let ya know. ;)

Well Stevie has a more successful solo carreer. I actually wouldn't mind if she and Lindsey did a duet on Stop Draggin My Heart around in place of one of Lindsey's songs. Then they would each have the same amount of songs.

Cristian 05-21-2004 09:24 PM

That "Stand Back" is simply amazing. Especially for us who actually haven't seen the tour yet! :)

That's what I was blown away about from watching these clips. I guess that's one good thing about this whole pre-staged, homegenous concert thing... a random taping seems like the concert you went to no matter we're you're from!
But it really does kill me that we don't get IKINW (<-- especially), Sara and Red Rover. Ah well. Red Rover, at least, we get on Lindsey's upcoming thingo.

i agree its not one of my favorites.....but to be honest the viewing of that clip is the first time i've ever really heard it. but i did like it. even though lindsey wasn't even really a feautred guitarist in it. and stevie seemed more lively there than on any point during the dance dvd. so thats cool. thats why i always tend to go towards lindsey cause of his energy. so maybe this dvd and the concert i'm attending next month could equal it out or come close.

I've had so many differing opinions on this over the years. Now I am at the point that I really enjoy Stand Back in the set. Okay, sure, it's a Stevie solo-song, but it's a Fleetwood Mac song too. It's been in the set for 17 years (except '94), and it was on a Mac album. I'm sure if Lindsey wanted to, he could have a solo song in the set. He did Go Insane on The Dance tour, and that was accompanied by a POEM, which I think breaks the mold a bit for a rock show. The band was okay with Go Insane and the poem then, I'm sure if Lindsey pushed for it now, he'd have a solo song in the set. I would actually not mind terribly if Stand Back were dropped, and then the first encore song was Edge of Seventeen. I would LOVE to hear the Mac take on EO17.

I still feel that Stevie views "Come" as a solo Lindsey song. Judging from how she didn't want to sing back-up vocals on the track, not to mention how she bolts off stage before they start to play it as if to say 'okay, you boys have your fun'. I guess we get Stevie's solo song, and the band agreed that having Lindsey's 8-minute "Come" rock-out qualifies for his.

Personally, unless they added "Twist of Fate" or maybe "Shuffle Ruff" I think "Come" is the best choice for him right now anyway. I'd LOVE to see what they'd do with "Twist of Fate" live, however.

RavenOfRhiannon 05-23-2004 11:31 AM

Has anyone else noticed that Stevie and Lindsey do not interact at all during Standback? I don't think Lindsey is even playing lead, the was she was dancing around the backup guitarists. I think Lindsey is really giving Stevie a moment to Rock Out on her own.

Before any conspiracy theroies start, I don't think they are ignoring each other or there is any bad blood over Standback...

Did anyone notice the hilarious little choreographed dance thing Stevie does during Say You Will? If you watch it, pay careful attention to each chorus...she does the same arm movements each time. It goes:

At least give me time: arms reach outward
To change your mind: arms go forward, hands get pointed out and she shakes them
That always seems to: arms reach outward again
Heal the wounds: arms go inward and hands nearly touch

Then the best part:

If I can get you to dance: left arm goes on hip as right arm circles in the air.

It's great! Classic Stevie moment.

She has been doing this for quite a while now. Most fans do it at the concerts with her!

Oh I see...I think the Pittsburgh show last year was too early, she may have added it later. Then again, I could have just still been in complete awe that I didn't notice. :D

ShangriLaTroubl 05-24-2004 11:55 PM

yes she did add it somewhere in the middle of the USA 2003 tour...very fun tho, crowd seems to enjoy it

I cannot WAIT to see the whole DVD!! It was such an awesome experience to be there (and that's the show where LB signed my tourbook, which has a place of honor on my fireplace mantel - LOL!).

The lead up to Stand Back, with Taku revving up the crowd, is something that needs to be experienced live, if only just once. By the time Stevie sings the first word, the audience has been teased to a frenzy!

These clips have me psyched for PNC, only 4 more days!!

Actually, I don't think they should be doing ANY solo songs from either of them on a Fleetwood Mac tour.....that's what solo tours are for. With the volume of music they've done as a band, why waste space in the setlist with solo stuff!!?? Gimme Da Mac!!!!!!

Anywho, thanks for posting that Pip, but I too am waiting....
Crappy dial-up = crappy listening = just gonna wait and be impressed instead of suffering through the choppiness!!! ;)

Stephanie
