No Tusk!

Dudes, I just walked 20 blocks to the nearest Best Buy to pick up the Tusk reissue, and guess what?

Sold out! What's up with that? The dude there told me they got 50 copies and they flew out the door. Somoene else was looking for it while I was there. It's not that funny, really.

They still had Rumours and Fleetwood Mac. But I wasn't interested, not at this time. I'll pick up Rumours later. For now I want Tusk. And that's enough for me.

wondergirl9847 03-23-2004 02:03 PM

LMAO!!

More puns, please!!

WOW, 50 copies...GONE!!! That's awesome!!! :D

Hope you find a copy, Carne!

CarneVaca 03-23-2004 02:07 PM

Cristy, I have two more Best Buys I can visit when I go home. I could have picked one up at Barnes, but it was 24.99. Yikes! Daddy's on a budget!

And one of those damn stores better have it, or there's going to be some storms. And, then, you know, that's all for everyone...

and, of course, the terrorists win.

wondergirl9847 03-23-2004 02:11 PM

And ya know....

Don't fall off the ledge, carne, if there wasn't a store last friday with Tusk I would not have bought anything either! hang in dude, the longer the wait, the sweeter the bait. ( is that an english expression? I really never heard that before, so maybe I made it up myself!)

PS: how would you descibe the word "The Ledge" ? It's a difficult translatable word in Dutch.

Dar 03-23-2004 03:29 PM

They had all 3 reissues at Walmart for 23.87. I got mine this afternoon . I was really suprised that they had them. I thought I was going to have to drive 40 miles to Best Buy.

EnchantedSLN 03-23-2004 04:20 PM

Better than the Best Buy near my house. I didn't see any on the shelf so I asked an employee in the music section, who said he didn't even know there were coming out & they didn't have any. I asked if he could go check in the back anyway, and he came out 20 minutes later with a boxcutter and 5 copies of each -- "haha, I found these in a box... is this what you're talking about?" ::sigh::

Gerald, it's the little shelf on the outside of a window. You know, the part you would stand on if you were going to off yourself from the 14th floor. In some buildings, you might even be able to step off the ledge and walk a thin line around the building if there's a two- or three-inch ridge along the wall.

Alison 03-23-2004 05:05 PM

I'm mad. I went to every record store including walmart and none of them have or going to have any of the re-issues. I can order it in for $39 if I want it. Forget that.
So can some one make me a copy of the Tusk one please?
I will pay the costs and for shipping.

bucklind17 03-23-2004 05:51 PM

I believe this is it, on Amazon, for $22.99

Thanks. I always translated it no further than the dutch equivalent of "Edge" . This puts another perspective on the song for me too. So Tusk actually IS quite suicidal in its range of associations: "ledge", "walk a thin line", suicide note "that's all for everyone" "save me a place" "that's enough for me".

I feel silly. Heard that album on a almost dayly basis since the day it came out. And I never knew it was SO obvious. I had a clue, but now it reveals more. Stupid.

Mike B 03-23-2004 07:03 PM

What is up with Best Buy stores and Tusk?

I went to mine and grabbed up copies of the White album and Rumours, but didn't see any Tusk on the shelves. I asked and the guy told me it didn't come out and "it could have been pushed back...that happens with CDs sometimes." I knew it wasn't pushed back so I went to Circuit City and they had one copy of Tusk for $19.99. So yeah, Best Buy dude. It was released.

I'm going to wait and use my Best Buy bucks when it finally shows up there, but it seems like BB and Tusk just haven't mixed today. I saw messages on another board about people having trouble getting it there. Weird.

And, if you fell, you'd realize over & over that you'd never forget that it's not that funny.

I picked up the last copy of "Tusk" at my Best Buy today, who knows how many they started out with.... I'm sorry for anyone reading this near my area Best Buy cause I took the last one!

Hi Alison...

Amazon has a Canadian site, too... at http://www.amazon.ca

But I'm not sure if you can pay thru money orders, etc.

Carolina Girl 03-23-2004 07:10 PM

The Best Buy I went to didn't have them out either. I asked, and they checked the computer, which indicated that they had some, but when he checked in the back, he couldn't find them. So I went to Circuit City where I found ONE copy of the white album and ONE copy of Rumours, both of which I bought. I finally found Tusk at Wal-Mart. They had all three.

golden braid 03-23-2004 11:29 PM

I got all three today just from a local record store. The Tusk and Rumours albums were 21.99 each and the White album was 12.99.

sodascouts 03-23-2004 11:53 PM

My experience at Best Buy here in Lafayette, IN was not good. I was there when the doors opened, saw about a dozen WAs and Rumours, but not Tusks. So I grab the two they have, then go to inquire.

First, the girl puts "Fleetwood Mac" as the title of the album. I sigh heavily. "NO, that's the GROUP's name. It's TUSK - the reissue - came out today."

Girl calls up screen. "We don't have anything that came out today from Fleetwood Mac."

I said, "Yes you do. I am holding two of the reissues that came out today in my hand. Now where is Tusk?"

She says "I don't even see them stocked in the warehouse. Sorry."

Went to FYE and paid big bucks for it. :(

I had a very similar experience at Tower Records in Atlanta - it was literally a "confederacy of dunces"

CarneVaca 03-24-2004 01:50 PM

snwriter 04-01-2004 04:23 PM

After MUCH searching in NY city area Best Buys, Targets, Sam Goodys and one Walmart, I only found Tusk reissue in Barnes and Noble! They had three. $24. I heard some Best Buys had it for 19.99.

Cammie 04-01-2004 07:01 PM

Sugar 04-01-2004 09:10 PM

I ordered Rumours and Tusk from Amazon The Friday before they were released and got them on Tuesday. :wavey:

CarneVaca 04-01-2004 10:33 PM

I have now been duly Tusked. Good news. Will listen to both disks during a four-hour car ride tomorrow.

Meanwhile, I had to return my Rumours CD to Best Buy because it was damaged. I ruined some dumb kid's night. Evidently, the policy is if the customer returns "software" (The dumbass didn't seem to understand the concept of music CD), the "software" has to be exchanged for another copy. Fine. Problem is they didn't have anymore copies. "Then you must get another title of the same value."

Can you just picture me going balistic on this retail robot? The poor dumb shmuck was begging for mercy by the time I was done with him.

I walked out with a full refund.

Lord that poor child - I have both witnessed and been the brunt of it only in prose and I am still smarting

I walked right into my trusty local Fred Meyer today and walked out with all 3 Remasters, no problem. I expected to. They're great about these things for some reason. (I admit, it WAS the last Tusk on the shelf, but I went late at night and it appeared they have been stocking all of them heartily).

GardenStateGirlie 04-02-2004 02:42 AM

I have yet to get them and I desperately need to. I refuse to go to Best Buy BUT they do have free shipping and I think it's $13.99 if you order it online if anyone wants to do that. I do laugh at the fact that they're already on e-bay

David R 04-02-2004 09:20 AM

I payed 23 bucks for my tusk at walmat, which was the only one they had left. I spent all my money on it Then a week later I went to best buy and saw it for 13.99, damn my being impatient. I could have bought tusk and fleetwood mac for the priced I payed, OH WELL. I also got Rumours at best buy, it was an Easter gift from my mom, since I begged her to buy it for me. I need to get myself a job.

Alison 04-02-2004 09:51 AM

Still have not been able to get any of them here in Canada. At least not in one hour and a half from me.
The cheepest I have heard of them selling in Canada is $28 on line. Oh the strugles of being a broke single parent.

estranged4life 04-02-2004 11:27 AM

Is it true...

that BestBuy listed a incorrect price at $13.99 online then raised the price to $17.99? I haven't checked to see if this is the case, But does anyone know if this is indeed true?

 Sounds like me.

Supposedly, it's the law that says if you purchase a CD, software program, video, or DVD, you do not get a refund. Something to do with copying it. Every store does it. How ridiculous.

Johnny Stew 04-02-2004 04:28 PM

I used to have a friend who worked in retail... you don't even want to know the things he used to tell me that he and his co-workers would do when a customer would argue over store policies (Lord help ya, if you used a credit card for your purchases).

That's one of the reasons he's no longer a friend... but it's always a good idea to remain calm and remember it's just their job. :) ;)

I don't know if that's true or not...I haven't looked. However, they often charge more in the store than they do online and Best Buy won't price match with bestbuy.com (I used to work there) so there is a possibility that it's more expensive in the store than it is online. Go figure.
