Inside Out - Destiny Rules

article from VH1.com
(Inside) Out : Destiny Rules

Starting in the fall of 2001, filmmakers Matt Baumann and Kyle Einhorn follow Fleetwood Mac's every move as they reunited (sans Christine McVie) to record their first new studio album in 15 years.

Culled from over 500 hours of footage, the documentary follows the band members as they record Say You Will and prepare for a world tour. Cameras, including a few hidden ones, rolled almost nonstop from Stevie Nicks's first day in the studio until the band walks onstage for its first show a year and a half later.

Fleetwood Mac: Destiny Rules: An (Inside)Out Special captures the ups and downs of a legendary band like no other documentary before ... and proves that time doesn't always heal all wounds.

Is it to early to start begging for all that extra footage to turn up somewhere? ;)

And wow - Hidden cameras? Rolling non-stop? It sounds like The Real World: Fleetwood Mac! Seriously, if enough people would have watched it, I bet this would have made a killer limited run series on VH1, like an Osbournes type show, minus the yapping dogs - no wait, we have those too, don't we? ;)

I really like the use of Destiny Rules as the subtitle. It works!

jadegypsy 02-24-2004 11:00 PM

ohhh....

Now the REALLY priceless footage to have would be the footage of them editing this 500hrs into the 1.5 hrs, can you just imagine the type of squabbling that went on as to what to include and not to include. "You can't include that I'm not lit well!" "Mick, they really don't need to know that."

O.K. Dutch, German and UK Ledgies- how will we get to see this documentary? If this is the one that will be in the stores in a few weeks I will patiently wait till then... But why would they air something and then try to sell it after everyone recorded it...? Anyway- if this won`t be available over here we need to find a way to get it, right? To keep the costs low we could trade with someone and share the postal/UPS or whatever-costs. Or is someone on vacation in the US or on a business trip or likes to get there just to do me a favor (I suppose a lot of people would do that for me, right?)
But seriously we should find a way to get this documentary- so any suggestions? :wavey: Stefan

we could either wait till vh1 europe airs it (at the risk of dying of old age in the process) or download it.

stefan 02-25-2004 03:08 PM

I don`t get/receive VH1 Europe... About the download- where could you get that from? Is there an official source on their website? Otherwise there are fansites like burnish.net, which I appreciate a lot (great work and service) but concerning the video clips from the various TV appearances tgee posted last year I must admit that the quality is really bad (down to 32Kbps). Yes I know it's hardly possible to put a quality clip on because of the file sizes but this way you hardly can identify any of the group members on the screen...

hopefully it'll find its way to the p2p networks.
you should consider adding vh-1 to whatever package you are receiving, they don't air much of vh-1's new shows, but they do air stevie's storytellers every 3 weeks or so.

Speaking of calling the documentary Destiny Rules, does anyone wonder why they didn't pick that title as the title of the album? I remember they wanted to do something like that, I believe they originally wanted to call it Full Circle but they probably nixed the idea after Boyz II Men stole it (okay, they probably didn't steal it). I don't remember if anyone brought up the idea of Destiny Rules for the title of the album, but I think that's what it should have been, now that I think about it.

Although I've grown to like 'Say You Will,' I've thought 'Destiny Rules' would have been a MUCH better title, since the very first time I saw the track-listing.

It's way better than any of the other suggestions.

dissention 02-25-2004 05:24 PM

I would have liked the album to have been titled simply "Come." Seriously.

Who knows, it may have even sold better! ;)

Mystical88 02-25-2004 08:18 PM

THAT ROCKS!!!!!!
Been waiting for this~

Hey, and I thought I was the only one! ;)

It goes with the flow... just one word... Penguin, Rumours, Tusk, Mirage, Time, Come... Great title!

I don't know, Destiny Rules as an album title sounds a little corny, does anyone know what I mean? It just is a little to straight forward or something...

sparky 02-26-2004 02:14 AM

COME ? That's funny. Can you imagine Aunt Stevie's reaction to that ? She practically had a stroke over the title "Tusk" and most people didn't even know what that meant !

Thoughts for not US Ledgies

Hey, this may solve the problem for those not in the US and who won't see soundstage. On one of my other boards we do what is called a round-robin of stuff ppl have and others want to see. Basically there is a list of ppl and you just send the tape to one person on the list and they send it off to the next person, and so on down the list. I know it's not as ideal as everyone having their own copy, but it could work. I would possibly be able to provide the origional tape, depending on how many times it airs. (I only have one VCR at my apt and I would like my own master copy, although I might have access to another VCR). If this peaks anyones interest then let me know.

stefan 02-27-2004 03:26 AM

Yes sounds like a possible way to get to see this tape. On which board can we find that list? Thanks for the info- Stefan:wavey:

RavenOfRhiannon 02-27-2004 11:44 AM

Just goes to show how thoughtful and cool Mac fans are. Great Idea!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Randy

jadegypsy 02-27-2004 03:29 PM

Clarification

You won't find it on the other board, It was and IDEA I got from another board (I belong to a figure skating board, and we do this for those shows), SO the list would START here, I think the show is being aired a couple times so I am willing to make a copy of it and ship it off to the first person on the list from this board, you get? I was actually surprised we didn't have a round-robin thing on this board, but hey guess we could start one.

So after it airs here I will post that I have it and then people who want the tape sent to them can sign up under a list, I'll send it off to the first person with the list (plus it will be left up here, as more sign up) then they get in touch with the second person on the list and send it off to them, naturally you can all make your own copies from the tape as well.

stefan 02-27-2004 03:53 PM

Hi Jadegypsy- O.K. it's a great idea- let`s start! Put me on the list-I`m onboard! I am thrilled to see this show and of course I am pleased to send the tape to another european ledgie who likes to get it!

I wonder that they made such an effort only for a 90 minutes or so TV appearance. I thought they were aiming at the longtime fans who would buy that "making of" willingly after all these years.

On MTV Germany I saw a documentary about Fred Durst- about the making of the last album. They followed him from the beginning of the project up to the first concert. Seems to be the same concept like the FM making of. Perhaps it`s the same series-if VH1 has anything to do with MTV? Well probably not so what`s the point

May all Ledgies have a good weekend, Stefan:wavey:
