I'm not sure if anyone has posted this yet but I just got a google news alert article from Rolling Stone about the new reissues and they have what demos/outtakes/alternates are going to be on the albums.
Here's the link: http://www.rollingstone.com/news/new....asp?nid=19248 |

We might not have heard a few of those...

Ooh, thanks, Colleen!!! :D
Looks GREAT to me! I'm a little disappointed, but not at all surprised that they didn't include Stevie songs like "The Dealer," which have never been released in any form... I'm sure those are being "saved" for future recordings, and there's really nothing wrong with that... but it will be VERY cool to have the early version of "Planets Of The Universe!!" So "Lindsey's Song #1" and "#2" are actually "I Know I'm Not Wrong," and "That's All For Everyone," and "Out On The Road" is actually "That's Enough For Me." Should be interesting to hear these songs in their embryonic state! I'm wondering if the bonus "Sara" is what we know as the "cleaning lady demo." Agh, I'd love to post more thoughts/comments, but my dinner is calling! |
Butter Cookie?? LOL That sounds intriguing...can't say I'm terribly excited about the numerous re-releases of all the songs that were included on the original releases - a la the boxed set(yawn).
"Wow, did Mick add a high-hat after that verse? Let's include THAT song, it's SO different than the original." Quote:

lol - I wonder whose song Butter Cookie is? Sounds like maybe Christine.
|
I dont see why everyone is not as excited as I am....I mean, we are getting a few never-heard tracks. Maybe if we weren't so spoiled from all the demos out there, then maybe this would be more exciting for alot of people...
~Alex |
It just seems that there's not alot that we haven't already heard.....in one form or another. It is still exciting, though. I am excited, can't you tell? lol

Unreal@!!! I'm very excited about the reissues - especially Tusk.
It will be great to have the reissues as we Aussies face withdrawal symptoms. |
Well, isn't this...

Ooh, what a teaser!
Yep. Maybe Butter Cookie (lol I can't get over the name, it sounds so bizarre) was a Christine song that wasn't working out, so taking the lyrics out of that and you're left with that keyboard instrumental, which they decided to use for Stevie's 'Keep Me There' aka 'Write Me a Love Song' lyrics, but then it became clear that those lyrics stank too. I don't know obviously - just a thought. With any luck the booklets that come with the CDs will shed light on the development of some of these songs!
The ones I'm most interested in: 'Mic The Screecher' and 'One More Time' (Over & Over). Good point about Rochelle - I expect we will be having big withdrawls, especially since it sounds the US is gonna get a new setlist for the final leg of the tour. So these reissues and the assorted DVDs will be a treat. |
In my excitement, I didn't even notice Stevie's "Think About It" on the 'Rumours' bonus disc... that should make Christy VERY happy! :)
And I know we've had the early version of "Planets Of The Universe" for years, but I'm still very excited to have a pristine, digitally remastered, 1st generation copy of it on CD. Same with "Think About It," and the various alternate takes & mixes. In all fairness, there really can't be much left for them to release that we haven't already heard. One could argue that it's their fault for not having released these things sooner, but one could also argue that it's our fault for seeking out and/or purchasing bootleg material in the first place. This is stuff that we weren't meant to have heard before now, and it's sort of like sneaking into your parents' closet and getting an early peek at your Christmas gifts. If the surprise is gone, we really don't have anyone to blame but ourselves. Regardless, I'm still stoked! :D |
I'm actually a bit surprised at the lack of bonus material from the Fleetwood Mac album. I would think there would've been more than just one jam & the single mixes. (hint: um, guys, what about a LIVE track or two? Maybe?)
|
Can't wait to hear the early "Planets". Do you really think it is the piano demo referred to as "No Light"? Or do you think it is another demo/outtake entirely?

No "I'm So Afraid" or "Rhiannon" that continued beyond where the album versions faded? Or "World Turning?" If those are out there, surely a lack of space shouldn't have prevented them from being included, when the remastered 'Fleetwood Mac' will probably have a running time of only about 55 minutes. But I'm hoping the lack of live versions on these discs means that 'Fleetwood Mac Live' will also get the remastered treatment, with a healthy dose of extra live cuts from that era. As great as it is, it's sorely lacking "The Chain," "Angel," "What Makes You Think You're The One," and not just a few others. |

In other words, I wouldn't get my hopes up too high. :) |

I thought you were a big fan of the Mac version, but just didn't like Stevie's solo version. *blushes* |
LOL
Nah, I just don't particularly care for any version of the song. I wish The Dealer had taken it's place on Belladonna. I'm bitter about that. It's my fave demo. :)
|
BUTTER COOKIE ????
I am holding out for Fig Newton, or if I am really lucky, Coconut Macaroon.... |
Well, Sparky... rumour has it that the eventual remastering of 'Say You Will,' will include an abandoned Lindsey ditty, titled "Wheat Thins (Keep Me Here)." :D
|
I'm excited! As a relatively new fan (only a few years) I have not heard most of the demos and outtakes.
However, I wish a new album would come out to go along with the new tour this summer. They could prob. take all the rejects from SYW (when they had to cut it down to one cd), do a couple of old songs that were written years ago (How about Christian, Stevie?), and throw in some new material that I am sure they have been working on this tour and viola- a new Mac album! Also, while they are doing all these remasters, why didn't they do Buckingham Nicks, also? |
WOOOOT!
I am SUPER STOKED for this!!!!! I truly do hope POTU is a version we've not yet heard. Regardless, I'm happy with what we're getting  Fleetwood Mac...ya done good

I'm excited! Even though the tracks aren't what we all expected, but, it's still all good!
~~ Now, Rhino... let's talk about Mirage and TITN... ;) |

If March 23rd is the release date, i'm assuming that us Aussies will have to wait a futher 2-4 weeks for the Australian release?
Although many of us have already collected plenty of demos & Outtakes from these albums, i'm sure they would have already taken this into account to some extent...as most of us would be very dissapointed if we were buying cds containing identical Outtakes & Demos that we have already collected over the years (although sound quality would be much better). Here's hoping that the Rumours & Tusk reissues will contain versions of these songs that haven't been circulated!! :) |
I, for one, am super-stoked about the tracklists, they are INCREDIBLE :D I've only had the Rumours version of Think About It for a few months, and was completely blown away by it...it totally rocks! Now everyone will get to hear it in it's original (AND BEST!) form. Plus, I have NEVER heard of:
Jam #2 Doesn't Anything Last Mic The Screecher For Duster (The Blues) Kiss and Run So, considering the un-ending amount of demos and alt. versions that we already have, I think its something that there are any "new songs" at all. Yes, there are a few disappointments, like no live versions (but like someone said, maybe this means an expended Fleetwood Mac Live set!!), no "Beauty and the Beast" (which I still haven't heard...is it really very good?), and some other omissions, but all things considered, this is just awesome. Not many bands, when rereleasing old material, include this much bonus stuff. It is SO wonderfully un-Fleetwood Mac-ish and hopefully will start a new trend...continuing with a fresh setlist for the US tour! So.......Wow :D :wavey: adam :wavey: |
I think Rumours Think About It is far superior to Stevie's! I'm totally excited it's on here. :)
|
I can't wait...
to compare the Tusk bonus tracks with the cd's of the Tusk Reels I have...Should be an interesting release.

*drool*
I can't wait...except I imagine with all this bonus material these things will be a little on the expensive side. |

bugger,bugger,bugger....
....can't stand it....only three extra versions of I Know I'm Not Wrong..... :D

These bonus tracks look pretty good! There are even a few new songs I've never heard. The only thing I'm a little surprised about is that there aren't any live tracks. Hopefully, the Live album will be GREATLY expanded. There were ALOT of songs that didn't make it onto that album. I'm also looking forward to the DVD-Audio versions of the White Album & Tusk, hopefully later in the spring.
