Who should Lindsey work with?

I'm wondering, who would you like to hear Lindsey work with, either on a duet (besides Stevie) or he could produce a singer/group.

I would KILL to hear him do a song either with or for Amy Grant. She's gone back to her gospel roots in terms of albums, but she's also got some country mixed in there. I think she and Lindsey would sound AMAZING together!!

Also, either No Doubt, produce their next album or work with Gwen on her solo stuff. WOWOWOWOW!! That would kick!!

As for on "out there" pick, MXPX and Lindsey....that would be amazing!! They are a Christian, punk band and "Ever Passing Moment" is an AWESOME album!

Erm, what's his name? I forget.....

I think LB should work with Tommy Emmanuel, that would be pretty neat....

What do we need Lindsey for?? We can do that without him... ;)

shackin'up 01-23-2004 07:28 PM

I would have loved it if he'd been working again with warren zevon.

He should work with:

Eels
Marah
Chris Goss (masters of reality, queens of the stone age, kyuss)
Lucinda Williams
Grandaddy

DownOnRodeo 01-23-2004 07:30 PM

I like the Tommy Emmanuel suggestion. And the Fumble Fingers one

As for other female vocalists... hmm, I've honestly never thought about this. You'll have to give me some thinking time :P I'll take your word for it that Amy Grant would make a good mix with Lindsey. :)

shackin'up 01-23-2004 07:33 PM

I second Chris Isaak.

And suggest: REM, Bruce Hornsby or Springsteen. That? would rock my socks.

BlueGrass 01-24-2004 12:09 PM

I remember hearing for a commercial push on GOS they wanted Lindsey to do a collaboration with Sara Machaglan.

Here are some collabs I would love to hear...

Thom Yorke (Radiohead)
Billy Corgan
Chris Martin (Coldplay)
Gwen Stefani
David Bryne
David Grey
Peter Gabriel
Kipper - Sting's Producer

wondergirl9847 01-24-2004 12:43 PM

Ehhhh....err......uhhh.....

I don't think that would be a good joint effort. JMO. I like her song Angel from that movie, but overall, eh.

I think a lot of us like Gwen and No Doubt, Lindsey, are you listening? ;)

Mari 01-24-2004 04:52 PM

I second Chris Isaak ánd Lucinda Williams:-)

How about Elvis Costello or Ryan Adams?

He should definitely do an album with me because I play guitar just like him and my originals sound sort of like his. It would be perfect. Then again, that would never happen...

So I'll say Paul McCartney.

Gerald, my friend, it is as if you are stealing a page from my very thoughts...

I'd say work with the Eels definitely -- two studio geniuses with wildly creative approaches. Oh my. But as much as I'd love to see him work with Marah, the band has unfortunately taken a very commercial turn recently. Unless Lindsey could bring them back to the music that makes sense for them...

With Lucinda, I see a great duet.

Also, I'd love to see Lindsey work with David Lowery, of Cracker and Camper Van Beethoven. After Camper's Tusk, I think it would be great to see these two men collaborate on a couple of songs. How about it, Lindsey? I'm pretty sure David would jump at the chance.

Lastly, how about a collaboration with The Strokes? I bet those guys have Rumours and Tusk in their record collections.

I think Lindsey would end up kicking Ryan Adams' ass. He's a brooding, nasty son of a gun who is very hard to get along with, from what I've read. I love his music, anyway.

estranged4life 01-26-2004 12:33 PM

I would say...

Australian country-rocker Keith Urban (Who we'll be seeing yet again in April) would be an obvious choice IMHO since he has mentioned Lindsey as one of his influences...

Another choice for working with Linds' would be Mark Knopfler (Btw, Who is another of K.U.'s influences)...Would be interesting to see Buckingham/Knopfler on one stage/recording.

wondergirl9847 01-26-2004 12:45 PM

Brian...

EXCELLENT choices!!

That Keith Urban...YUM! ;) He's a great guitarist and singer too, I just saw one of his videos on CMT. I also heard that Australian accent on some show he was on...can't remember, perhaps the Top 40 Greatest Male Country Singers?

Mark Knopfler is another great choice! He did The Princess Bride soundtrack. I REALLY wish LB would do an entire soundtrack!

estranged4life 01-26-2004 12:58 PM

K.U. definitely...

has a real talent unlike some "musicians" currently on CMT.

He writes and produces his own music, Plays his instrument (Instead of just strumming along like most male country stars) and has the look...Plus he can put on one helluva live show! Matter-of-fact he was on "Austin City Limits" last night and he was rocking as usual.

Btw, I think K.U. could possibly play with Linds' since they both have working relationships with John Shanks...I know he would make an excellent opener for Fleetwood Mac this spring/summer.

I always thought Annie Lenox. She has an incredible voice and likes odd but thoughtful arrangements.

Sweetie. Did you just say ROCK MY SOCKS? Oh dear...you've gone round' the bend...heading towards the dark side

I second Carne's Camper Van Beethoven and third the Lucinda Williams.

I also think Poe, who has been known to experiment like Lindsey, would be a pretty stellar combination too as well as Terri Nunn of Berlin (i now have a Berlin obsession)

Oh! And how could I forget Beth Gibbons from Portishead....seriously, if you haven't checked out her new solo album Out of Season...definately do

You must've seen the "Band Reunited" episode on VH-1.

Ya know, the old "cast the FMac movie" thread that comes around more often than a case of herpes...

Terri Nunn as Stevie Nicks...whattaya think?

Yes sir, I did! Please, don't bring up that thread again....lol...but yea, she would make a good Stevie. She's very reminiscent of Debbie Harry though (I think it's the hair).

I think she and Lindsey would be a good collaberation...Terri? Can SING

Cammie 01-26-2004 09:42 PM

Lindsey should work out with...

:wavey:Lins & Sheryl Crow! Her new video with the horses
in the mountains is great! She is in good shape and
could keep right up with Lindsey! I see them on that
beautiful brown and white horse of hers riding off in-
to the sunset...acoustic guitars slung over their backs!
He's hugging her real tight! She has a beautiful smile!:)
FMac needs to do a new Video! They could walk around
in the desert with a spotted horse...with many guitars...
singing a great tune! OH!THEY DID THAT!:]Luv,Sky:)

:] Don't mind me...we'er drinking IRISH Cream!!! Yumm!:]

Well, I think lindsey would work with marah if only they did what they did on kids in philly. But Eels would br great, as cracker, too. And the strokes will do, too. But then lindsey has to move back to the ledge-notthatfunny-iknowi'mnotwrong-days....raw guiter sound. As I'm speaking: let him work with them!!

But in that case: let him work with Bill Janovitz! (singer/composer of Buffalo Tom.) THEN you could scrape the emotion from the walls!

oooooo.....some sonic experimentation with blink-182 maybe?????

cliffdweller 02-01-2004 11:46 AM

I think Linds should get really experimental and work with Jim O'Rourke from Sonic Youth.

That's an exquise choice! That could grow into alot of popnoise-diamonds!

4Buck 02-02-2004 03:18 PM

>>>I'm being EXTREMELY selfish here......If Buckingham can't perform solo then I ONLY want him to work with the Mac as a whole:
Nicks, Fleetwood and the McVies>>>>>>>

They compliment each other perfectly, and there is just not enough of their great music!.............

Mari 02-05-2004 03:45 AM

Sophie B. Hawkins? Kate Bush?
