What's new? -----------> Me!!
:wavey:
I've been buzzing around here and there so thought it was time to introduce myself. I'm from Australia and have been a been a Mac fan for years. I've been sourcing Penguin since 1997 and as I recall the forums were inactive back then for some reason. I fell in love with the song 'Sara' which to this day is my fave song. 'Tusk' is my fave album. I love 'Rumours' but 'Tusk' speaks to me on a more personal and deeper level. While I tend to focus on the Rumours line-up, I listen to some music from the Peter Green years as well. I've listened to some Welch line-up music but not for a long time now. I don't like 'Time' and not very keen on the male input on 'Behind the Mask'. My first concert was in Sydney - which I had to travel to this country for and I attended the concert by myself. I've made some wonderful Stevie/Mac fans in Australia so its weird to know that while I was at the concert by myself....I was sitting close to people that would become my friends in the future. When Fleetwood Mac arrive next month - I'll be attending the concerts with these friends :laugh: I'm not that keen on 'Say You Will' as an overall album. Clearly, there are some standout songs (Miranda, Goodbye Baby, Say You Will etc) but there's a bit too much solo Buckingham acoustics overlapping from one song to another for my liking. With reference to the individual members of the band - I think they're all really important. I love Christine and Lindsey music but mostly as part of a band rather than their solo efforts. Stevie's solo and soundtrack work is a constant pleasure for me but the Klonopin years are hard to digest. The day 'The Dance' was broadcast on TV...I cried because she looked and sounded great again ;) As a fan, I'm able to be critically objective and perhaps I'm a little too tough on Mac since I know what their capabilities are. I admit that I'm opionated and sometimes go on a political tangent so bear that in mind when I'm incoherently blabbing on. Just tell me to shut up :) Here's a short random list of things I like: Stevie Sara Storms Beautiful Child Silver Springs Straight Back Christine Honey Hi Everywhere Brown Eyes Love in Store Never Forget Lindsey Save Me A Place Tusk Go Your Own Way Miranda Monday Morning Other music Coldplay ;) Travis Norah Jones TATU Film scores 80s British post punk/new wave/new romantics Joy Division New Order Associates Siouxsie and the Banshees Echo and the Bunnymen Simple Minds Films The Thin Red Line Tokyo Story L'Atalante The Hours Raise the Red Lantern The Conformist Late Spring Ugetsu Bicycle Thieves General Seinfeld X-Files Documentaries Visual arts Film Books Knowledge Anything water related - oceans, lakes, streams, etc Snorkelling Horseriding Tennis Wine Dining and cooking Meeting people See you around the forum CP :) |
Been seeing you around for a little while, but since you've posted an official introduction, here's my official greeting! :laugh:
Welcome to the board, CP! It's great to have you here... I can already tell that you have a lot of interesting things to add, and will have a unique input. And don't worry if you find yourself "incoherently blabbing on" once in a while... I think we've ALL been guilty of that from time to time!! :) |
welcome to the ledge.
now, i'm not referring to you personally, you are just one in a long line of "hiders" (or you could actually be chris martin, and if this is the case then i'm really sorry), i donnow, maybe it's just me, but when someone introduces himself/herself online, i expect to know his/her gender, age, name... these kinda things. i find it a little impolite that there are ppl here who would post daily, yet won't reveal even the most general details about who they are. all those ppl here who don't give their names, locations, blah blah blah, and hide behind a stevie avatar (usually taken from burnish.net) and a stevie-related nick, just all blend into one mixture in which i can never identify any of them. it's not like we eat people here, you can all introduce yourselves properly. thank you. Tommer (31, male, Tel-Aviv) :wavey: |
Welcome to the board Coldplay! I have a feeling I know you...:nod:

More Aussie posters are always welcome! :)
Tokyo Story? That old black and white one about the city/country families?? Heh. I've had to watch the first half of that for two different uni subjects so far. (As for my exciting and interesting (not) life details, they're all free to whomsoever is so bored as to want to endure them! My LJ is permanently linked in my sig. :) ) |
Hi coldplay!! Nice to meet ya! Many of the songs you listed are among my favorites too... And I love watching tennis. Can't play a lick though. :laugh:

May I ask what you are studying at uni? Also, why did you only have to watch the first half and for which subjects? Cheers CP |
Somewhat irrelevant Mac and Coldplay timeline - when SYW debuted on AOL Broadband, the Coldplay single was the other song they had a live video clip for. :cool:

Hey Tommer thanks for the welcome :) You're very to the point which is great but I'm ambivalent about your post. I understand the need for personalised information but I find it unnecessary to know these things. My name, age, and gender say nothing about the decency of my character or what makes me tick. One of the things that I like about the internet is that age and gender boudaries get broken down allowing us to focus on opinion, statement, and ability. Reading post by post allows me to engage with people's values and thoughts without imposing traditional generalisations upon them - be it conscious or unconscious. That's nice relief from a world that tends to treat mature-aged people as less employable, teenage opinion as discountable while bestseller books divide the world into venus and mars oppositions. I recently went to a party and took a friend. When she declared that she liked Michael Jackson she was asked how old she was. She replied "19". She was told "that figures..". I really don't understand that comment because Jackson has fans of all ages. I also found it condescending towards her age. In short, the 'blending in' you so dislike is what I actually enjoy. Furthermore, if I had kids - I would encourage caution of disclosing personal information over the internet in ANY environment as friendly and trusting as it is. Hell, I even ask if there is third party disclosure of my email if I have to submit it in a real life situation. However, in the spirit of sharing.... my name is Rochelle and I'm 32. :wavey: Cheers CP |

Your faves are among mine too. I adore Agassi and am pulling for him to win one more Slam before he retires. Graf was something -- I miss watching her. (And Rafter, too) I love Capriati... She's a scrapper. ~Krista |
p.s to Tommer
I was trying to think about why you need that information and was wondering whether or not you are a particularly visual person and needed to visualise a sense of the person you were communicating with. Cheers CP |

What do you think of Henin-Hardine? I had an issue with her ethic after she refused to acknowledge to the umpire that she put her hand up to stop serve at last years French Open. I'm going to tonight's centre court matches which will be fun. Cheers CP |

I like her well enough. I agree that was not the best sportsmanlike/ethical thing to do. What impresses me is how good she is for her size. Have fun!! I'm so jealous!!! :) ~Krista |

let me try and give you a simple analogy: i think that people who approach me wearing sunglasses indoors are pompous asses, and i'd never give them the time of day. if you wanna talk to me and expect me to believe that you're frank with me, you do not have to hide your eyes. it's not that i'd think this person would be suspicious or anything, but if you wanna break the distance don't hide, hiding is always a sign of deep mistrust, which is a rude way to present yourself. the other reason as i mentioned b4 is the cliche'-ness, everyone here are mac fans, and it's hard to remember so many stevie nicknames and avatars (and of course i don't refer chris martin), that's on the practical side, no judgement there, it's just harder to identify and remember users this way (kids, don't do too much drugs! :eek: ) |
