Bottom list-ers

**This is NOT a post to bash people's least faves. I'm just curious as to which songs don't do it for ya.**

Well, on the Lindsey Ledge, I've listed my LB bottom list-ers. In other words, if you took all his songs and rated them, which ones would rank towards the bottom of the list. We can do this for each FM member for every song you've heard.

Yes, I've said I don't hate ANY Lindsey songs, but there are songs that I don't listen to often or just don't care for as much as the others. Plus, there's GOTTA be bottom list-ers for everyone.

"I don't hate it, it just has a certain FEEL to it." - Lindsey Buckingham ;)

Peter:

Rattlesnake Shake (Sorry folks, just don't care for it. )
Searching and Fighting for Madge (I'm all for jamming, but eh.)

Danny:

Station Man (I am TRYING to get into this song, but just can't)

Bob:

What a Shame (Eh.)
The City (I can't get into this song)

Christine:

Morning Rain (Eh.)
Warm Ways (Zzzz.....)
Sugar Daddy

Lindsey:

Not That Funny
What's the World Coming To

Stevie:

When I See You Again
The Second Time
Silver Girl

Rick:

Stand on the Rock

Billy:

Hard Feelings

Stand on the Rock

\Have you heard this song live?
I think it totally rocks.

I'm starting to appreciate WTWCT a lot more now - it grows on you if you give it a chance. I use to always start the SYW CD with Murrow, but not anymore.

And I'm loathe to admit it but I was playing SYW on a stereo and Silver Girl sounded a lot different than it did thru my headphones and - ugh, dare I say it - I think I enjoyed it. :D

Quote:

Warm Ways (Zzzz.....)
No arguments there.

My bottom-list-ers (odd phrase that one :p ) are probably:

Christine - Only Over You <--- Angel, please do go.

Lindsey - Can't Go Back <-- OK it's not all that bad, but the jangling guitars at the end seriously grate on my brain.

Monday Morning - bleugh. How about calling it 'Mundane Melody' or 'Mediocre Melancholy' instead. I'm not surprised some people mistakenly call it 'Monday Mourning' - I feel the same! :o (hehe I'm only hamming it up, no hard feelings)

Stevie - Welcome to the Room Sara... However, take out Stevie's voice and lyrics and what's left isn't too bad.

dissention 01-17-2004 09:57 PM

I'll just do the Rumours line-up:

Christine:
Hold Me
Mystified (good lord...)
Think About Me (never grabbed me at all)
Sugar Daddy (love the candy, hate the song)
Warm Ways (an insomniacs cure...)

Lindsey:
ALL of his Mirage tunes (except Oh Diane)
What Makes You Think You're the One (take some damn ritalin)
My Little Demon (actually, it's so bad that it's good)
Not That Funny (feh...)
Peacekeeper (catchy, but not up to par)

Lindsey Solo:
Trouble (never tickled my fancy AT ALL)
It Was I (not bad and I do listen to it, but something just isn't right)
DW Suite (good lord)
ALL of his Stones covers from GOS

Stevie:
WHEN I SEE YOU AGAIN (sounds like she forgot how to sing AND write)
The Second Time (passable lyrics, awful vocal and music)
No Questions Asked (this was on the "Very Best of..."?!)
Welcome to the Room...Sara (hopefully Sara stayed outta this room)
Thrown Down (y'all know my position on this)

Stevie Solo:
GHOSTS (you couldn't pay me to listen to it)
Sister Honey (good reason not to do coke)
I Sing For the Things (and I pray for your good judgement)
ALL of Street Angel (except for Greta and Blue Denim)
After the Glitter Fades (boring as all hell)
Two Kinds of Love (love like this should be punishable by law)

That's it for now! :wavey:

The Chain 01-17-2004 10:20 PM

Stevie:

Fire Burning ) I have to be in a certain mood, either that, or it's growing on me
Affairs of The Heart
Landslide (Studio) - Sorry, I really enjoy The Dance versions, but I honestly don't care for the studio
The Nightmare- eek
Gate And Garden
I Will Run To You- Sorry again, I really cannot stand this song
When I see you Again

To tell you the truth , I've only listened to four songs on TOSOTM...

Lindsey-

Murrow
Walk A Thin Line
Steal Your Heart Away
Family Man
Big Love Live
That's All For Everyone

Christine

Mystified
Do You Know- The chorus is nice, though
So Excited
Hollywood
Only over You

I have more, I just can't think of em right now

xdreamsunwindx 01-17-2004 11:34 PM

I've heard much more FM than this, but I'm not really in the mood to look at the CDs I have to select my least faves, etc.

Lindsey-
Not That Funny
Monday Morning
Red Rover
Bwana (Who/what/where and most of all... WHY?!)
Family Man
Empire State
All My Sorrows

Chris-
One More Night
Homeward Bound
Only Over You
So Excited
Just Crazy Love
Don't Stop (sick of it)
Morning Rain (odd. but ok at times. but it's still weird.)

Stevie-
WISYA
Illume
Silver Girl
OMBTR&RS
All of Street Angel except Blue Denim
Bella Donna
ATGF (Cliche. Da da.)

EDIT: I keep coming up with more I don't like... I guess it's because I'm not in that much of a FM mood as of late... But I'll stop adding my least faves for now... hehe.

Lala 01-17-2004 11:44 PM

Lindsey
- Family Man...I've tried and tried and I can't stand to listen through the whole song. I did today just because I was too lazy to get up.
- Big Love (TITN)...The live version is okay, although getting a little anoying...but the studio version screams 80s!

Stevie
- No Questions Asked...Yeah I like it less and less every time
- Kind Of Woman...There's one part I like and then it gets boring
- The Highway Man...Sorry...y'all probably like it but it bores me so I usually end Bella Donna with 'Outside The Rain'

Christine
- Oh Daddy...shudder

I haven't heard all of their material like many of you...so I'm sure there will be more to come. I'm waiting for my record player to be fixed so I can finally listen to the white album. Can't wait!

No I haven't heard it live.

I need to add Homeward Bound to my Christine list...I just do NOT like her voice on that...she sounds like a man. It's just too deep. Ugh. :distress:

Joe, I do like WTWCT a lot better than I did on Day 1, but it's just that I prefer crazy, weird Lindsey (Red Rover. LOL) to plain songs for the most part.

I know, what is with that? I thought eveyone was typing it incorrectly, I didn't realise it was spelt like that on the album itself. Hmm.

I'll have to go with the albums that I have...

Lindsey:
- Monday Morning (I used to really like this song, but now it's just boring)
- Second Hand News (Same as MM, but live however, is a different story!)
- That's All For Everyone (Good! That's all I could handle! I love Lindsey's stuff on Tusk, except this one, I've always thought it was boring)
- Oh Diane (Not my taste)
- Caroline (Never cared for the lyrics, the music is good tho)

Stevie:
- Welcome To The Room...Sara
- Wild Heart
- The Highwayman
- Sable On Blonde
- Affairs of the Heart
- How Still My Love

Christine:
- Warm Ways
- One More Night (My absolute least favorite of hers ever!)
- Only Over You
- Wish You Were Here
- Mystified (Maybe this should go under Lindsey's list too???)
- Do You Know

I almost put down Everywhere as well, but I decided that it wasn't so bad as to put it on this list...

goldustboi 01-18-2004 05:10 PM

Lindsey:

Red Rover
Caroline (starts off good but the lyrics annoy me)
My Little Demon
Say Goodbye (album version)

Stevie

When I see you again
Straight Back

Christine:

One More Night
Wish u were here
Never make me cry

:distress: :distress: :distress:

On the other hand, on a completely irrelevant note, i just wanna say how much I love Temporary One and how underrated it is.

least faves

FM related first:

Stevie:
Paper Doll
Everything on BTM (actaully I don't care for this album at all so it's not just Stevie)
SYW (it's okay, but I really think it sounds too much like a Chris song for me, Smile at You (demo is a different story though).
Haven't actually heard Tango yet, I just bought it so I'm sure this will change just based on lyrics.

Lindsey:
Family Man (awful, cruel and unusual punishment)
Murrow (skip)
WTWCT (rather generic)
Red Rover (to odd)
No real opinion on Tango and Mirage obscure tunes since I have only heard Mirage once and haven't heard Tango yet.

Chris:
Hold Me (just not for me)
Skies the Limit (ditto)

Solo (I can only do Stevie)
Usually I dislike about 1/2 songs per album
L&L (I don't hate this it's just soooo sappy and it sounds like she worked way to long on it)
Beauty and the Beast (another sappy, although okay live)
If I Were You (I would have cut it)
Most of TOSOTM (except ROF and WLT)
Won't ever listen to Street Angel (I especially dislike the title song)
Desert Angel (torture)
Loves a Hard Game to Play
That Made Me Stronger (eeek)
Rose Garden (can we get anymore depressing?)

Only rating their Fleetwood Mac works:

Lindsey Buckingham:
Not That Funny
(only the original TUSK studio cut; I LOVE the live versions)

Christine McVie::
None

Stevie Nicks::
The Second Time
(Her absolutely worst ever, IMO)
Welcome To The Room...Sara (Until I heard Second Time, this was)
Silver Girl (just, "ugh")

Bob Welch:
None
(I USED to not care for "Silver Heels" or "She's Changing Me", but they both have considerably grown on me)

Danny Kirwan:
When You Say
(Not even Christine Perfect's cover version could save this song)

Peter Green:
None

Jeremy Spencer:
(nothing individually is all that bad, but when you put 3 or 4 very similarly sounding Elmore James covers on the same album, they get tedious)

Billy Burnette:
None

Rick Vito:
The Second Time
(Well, he is credited as co-writer, so I gotta poke a stick at him for that)

Dave Mason:
None
(his two songs with Fleetwood Mac aren't really that great, but they're quite a bit better than anything on his previous two solo albums before joining FMac)

I don't see why Lindsey can't be over the top. Stevie can do her "witchy" dancing and howling, etc., but Lindsey can't go nutsos on NTF.

FTR, I'm not trying to fight with anyone, I just see a double standard here. EVERYONE should go crazy.

But then again, some people were appalled at Lindsey's guitar antics this tour...while many (like myself of course. Hehe) REVELED in it.

Weird.

Siri Ruane 01-19-2004 06:02 PM

I can actually only think of two right now...

Go Insane, from The Dance, I used to love, but soon got sick of because it was the only FM song my 10 year old brother would listen to when his favorite band was Skillet. *shudders*

Goodbye Baby was kind of hard for me to accept because I'm very pro-life and it was hard enough just knowing that Stevie had an abortion, much less hear her singing about it.

I haven't listened to Behind The Mask in quite a while, so I'll probably get back to you on that.

I haven't listened to too much of the Peter Green/Bob Welch eras, and I shamefully do not own Time, but once I start playing gigs again and get some money I'll gain full Mac fandom.

Warning - I am not fighting. I am just explaining my point of view!!

I agree LB should be "allowed" (as if we could stop him  ) to go over the top just as much as anyone. This particular performance, however, just does not look or sound good to me and apparently others - the playing is not that great and he is not in any key I have ever heard

I mean Stevie just to me does not look as silly when she is doing her schtick as LB does here. Also, on the SYW tour, I just did not find LB's wild gestures coherent or fluid like Stevie's are/were. I mean even in Stevie's panty revealing, listing spin in the SOTM Mirage video, La Nicks at least has something that makes me want to watch that trainwreck  I cannot say the same for LB's NTF or his monkey dancing at the beginning of SB on this tour. I guess for me it is that I think Stevie's stuff kind of relates to the song while I think LB's does not. I mean I thought for a second when I first saw it that LB was mocking Stevie during the monkey dancing at the beginning of SB on this last tour. Also, Stevie dresses almost in a costume that time has lead us to believe will contain a show. LB has no costume.

Note: This is just my opinion.

Finally, Stevie and LB are great no matter what they do. Mick, on the other hand, should stay behind that drum kit
