Stand Back: Album Or Live?
 

Okay, here's the question, do you like the album version of Stand Back, or Live? I say, no questions asked, LIVE. It's so strong, and loud, it's just amazing, and the guitar, I think is much better... I really love the Red Rocks version, even if it is edited:D ,

So which do you like most?

Absolutely live! There is nothing like it... it's loud, full of energy and just fun!

I love the live versions from the RAL, Enchanted, and SYW tours.
TWH and Tango versions are okay, but I prefer the album version to those two.
I HATE the 1990 BTM version. Horrible.

Live, with the exception of the TOSOTM tour version. Not that great in my opinion... :(

the live version....my favorite is the snl version...i actually even like the US Festival version too...the original one...not the overdubbed vocal one....some of you know what i'm talking about.

I LOVE it live! Say You Will tour is my favorite, aside from the SNL version.

I can't believe no one's mentioned the Storytellers' version of Stand Back. That's the best one in my opinion. I love the grinding "AH!"s, plus the belting "Tiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiime of your life!"

I like that, too. I didn't specify that one because I lump it with the Enchanted Tour.

I loved the song at most of the Wild Heart shows, but I pretty much hate all later performances up to the present time.

I still like the album track, however. It's good, despite the fact that it's a dance track.

There is NOTHING like hearing it live. She's totally blown me away each time I've seen her perform SB this tour. Can't wait to see it again!! :nod:

Although I really love the album version too, it's one of those songs that becomes embellished with an explosive, energetic sound when done live. Something that the lp version doesn't quite capture. Like "Edge Of Seventeen" or "I'm So Afraid". :nod: :)

I love this song live! I think that every time I have heard it done be it on a solo show or with the Mac, it has been great!

Live - esp. with the high kick but perhaps not the crotch shot :cool: I still say the best live one was the SNL performance in like 1983.

Just to be petty (and I don't mean Tom) I must mention that this is the ONLY episode ever where the host does not mention/thank the musical guest at the end. Flip Wilson gave her a great introduction, so I'm sure it was nothing personal, just that he forgot at the end.

Live! I LOVE Stand Back and I am SO glad Stevie does too- which is why she has performed the song in every one of her and FM's shows, except for the Dance taping.

My favorite versions are the Enchanted Tour, Whole Lotta Trouble Tour versions, but The Say You Will Tour version indeed kicks a** !:D

My least favorite version is from the Street Angel tour, I hate it when there's too much electronic percussion (i.e. tom rolls) in the song, but that's probably because I'm a percussionist myself. REAL drums, please!
