Current Favorite Album/Mirage
 

This is kind of a double post...
I myself, do not have a favorite Mac album... I change from time to time. So, for people like me, if there are any, what is your current favorite album?

Mine is Mirage

2nd part of the post, what is your opinion on Mirage...
I really enjoy Lindsey's songs on this album, his vocals are great (even if they are different/like 60's style)

My favorites of his are
Can't go back (It's very catchy)
Book Of Love (I really like this one too)
Oh Diane (a little 60's sounding, but the vocals are awsome)
Eyes Of The World (Great, awsome guitar, cool song)

Stevie favorites
Straight Back (her vocals are amazing, a favorite Stevie song for sure)
Gypsy (Of course)
That's Alright (I didn't really like it until very recentley, but it's great, the vocals, Stevie sounds great :nod: keyboards, bass, I don't really like the banjo, but...I am really starting to like it)

Christine
Love In Store (A favorite of Chris's songs)
Hold Me (Who doesn't like this song)

My opinion:

I will defend this album until the day I die. Even though it wasn't as huge as Rumours, it's still a wonderful album. It's an album that needs to be looked at and really taken seriously. I have been prone to rooting for the underdogs. Plus, Mirage is one of those very rare albums I can listen to in its entitery (TITN being one of those also) and enjoy it.

That's my little tidbit for the day.

Right now it's TITN for me. Because I got it for Christmas and have not yet really gotten used to it. I mean, I'd heard all the songs before a million times, but it's better hearing them on the real album.

My favorites right now:

~Isn't It Midnight - It's not just a favorite for right now, this is one of my favorite songs ever!
~Tango In The Night - Lindsey's best on the album IMO
~Welcome To The Room...Sara - I dunno what it is about it, it's just kind of a cool song. And it has lyrics from Blue Lamp.

I agree. I never have a favorite album of Fleetwood Mac's because they are all great and I switch frequently! But right now, I guess I would say TITN.

I don't know, I think I need a vacation from Fleetwood Mac for a few days because I am not too intrigued by their music today. I guess I have listened to them too much lately. I get like this sometimes and if I stop listening to them for a couple days I become completely obsessed again! It is a cycle!

Right now it's Rumours or Tusk, unless I'm allowed to count Very Best Of. (In the past I've had Live & White Album at #1, too.)
I'm also into Bare Trees again these days.

I like Mirage quite alot. My favorite songs on the album are "Hold Me", "Wish You Were Here" & "Gypsy". Lindsey's songs are a bit weak, not awful, just not as good as his songs on Rumours & Tusk.

Right now it's "Say You Will."

Mirage- I can take it or leave it. I love all of Stevie's songs on it, one of Chris', and two of Lindsey's, the rest stink to these ears. Empire State is just awful. I do love Oh Diane, though.

In the summer I was all for SYW as my fav FM album. I go back and forth.

But right now I can't choose one. I play Tusk, Mirage and Tango the most though. I like those three the most I guess.

SYW I played soooooooooooooooo many times I need a break. I need to get away. But soon I will ache for it again.

The Dance too...needs a break LOL.

Hmm... Right now, it's Penguin. I'm shocked by the fact that I love it s much. All of Chris' songs are awesome, as usual, and I love Bob Welch's and Dave Walker's songs too. But, this is my list of my top FM albums...

My current favorite album would probably be Tusk. I do really like Mirage too. I like all the songs except for Empire State and Only Over You.

Mirage is the one Rumours era album I don't have. :distress:

My current favorite album is Fleetwood Mac Live. Can't get enough of Fireflies. ;)

MTM will probably always be my favorite. It's wierd, I love laying by the pool, in the summer heat, listening to MTM. It's like the perfect summer music to me. It takes you away.;)

Mirage just has a great flow. I usually listen all of the way through. "Love in Store," is a very good album opener. "That's Alright" is one of my favorite Stevie songs. It's such a different type of FM song. "Book of Love" is catchy. Who doesn't get choked up by "Gypsy?" I remember watching the video a billion times on MTV. The same goes for "Hold Me." "Wish You Were Here" is a great album closer. I can really relate to that song.

It's hard for me to pick a favorite from Mirage, Rumours, and Tusk. I guess for sheer inventiveness, Tusk gets the nod. But Mirage has a special place in my heart.

I really like SYW, but it just doesn't seem to have the flow and cohesiveness of Mirage.

I smile whenever I hear "Meet Me down by the Railway Station..."

I absolutely love Mirage. Sure it has its weak points...but it surely beats out Tango in my opinion.

Mystery To Me is my favorite album of all, but Mirage is certainly up there in the top five.

Love In Store- this song always puts a smile on my face :D

The rest I could skip, but overall, the album really contains some great material and I love it more every day.

Right now, my favorite album is Tusk. I just got it for Christmas, and I've been playing it pretty much non-stop. Before I got Tusk, the only time I'd ever heard Beautiful Child was live on the SYW tour. That song is amazing and worth the price of the album by itself. The whole album is amazing. If you don't own it, go buy it now!!

I bought Mirage and TITN a few months ago, and I didn't immediately fall in love with them like I did Tusk. But I do like When I See You Again...but that's another thread :D I plan to give Mirage and TITN some more play to get more familiar with them, but right now my focus is Tusk.

Nope. I like it, too. I know nearly everyone dogs it though. I don't know why. I think it's pretty cool.

Mirage is definately not bad. I really like about half of it, with "Empire State" most definately included in that half.

I don't think any of them were infallable on this one. I really liked "Only Over You" at first but I grew sick of it really quick, but on the other hand "Hold Me" is one of Chris's best songs and one of the best FM songs in general, and "Love In Store" is pretty good too.

As far as Lindsey, the only other song of his I like is "Can't Go Back" which is cool and Beatle-y. I think he drags the album down for me in a major way, the rest of his songs are either irritating or below average. As far as Stevie, you can't argue "Gypsy"'s classic status or the greatness of "Straight back." I could take or leave the rest of the album.

Mirage has a disposition which makes it a more fluid album than more fragmented Fleetwood Mac albums like Tango In The Night. But still the quality of the songs is not always something to be highlighted. In this album, to me, Stevie does not go wrong in one single song: "Gypsy" is pop perfection (whoever's fault is this... many give merit to Lindsey's production, but someone had to write the blessed thing first, right?), "That's Alright" is a country little gem and "Straight Back" is a great rocker which also features a wonderful duet with Mrs.McVie.

Christine provides a string of poppy tunes, of which "Only Over You" is clearly the weakest. "Hold Me" is a huge favorite of mine, and a radio friendly tune; "Love In Store" features great harmonies and "Wish You Were Here" is one of those obscure favorites that one has. :)

For Lindsey I have mixed feelings. I have complained many times before about the bad quality of the lyrics to "Oh Diane", and to the awful sounding "Empire State", but "Can't Go Back" is a really strong track with great lyrics, "Eyes Of The World" is a fairly good rocker and "Book Of Love" might possibly be my favorite song on the album. I don't really know... I just feel he mixed his pop side with the experimental side he had done with Tusk, but with results that are sometimes mediocre and sometimes really good.

Overall I like it far better than Tango In The Night, but much less than the first three albums of the Buckingam Nicks era. And when you add to the mix the non-Buckingham Nicks albums, it's not even on my top 10.

I'm with you on this one. I've just "re-discovered" Mirage and am loving it, especially Lyndsey's songs and especially "Book of Love" and EOTW. Greatness.

I'm another one who can 'take it or leave it' as far as Mirage goes.

I think Stevie's vocals on this album were great and her songs were very well produced. Straight Back continues to amaze me every time I hear it...It's a great little hidden gem. And I love the country feel to "That's Alright" and I think that's where Stevie shines best.

Christine's songs...again, standard classic Christine. Hold Me, Love In Store (Stevie sounds great in the background there), Only Over You and Wish You Were Here (love the line....wish you were here 'cause I feel like a child tonight...sigh)

Lindsey's songs however, don't flame me....but but for the most part are not his best...Oh Diane (love is like a grain of sand slowly slippin' through your hands....either he got that from Days of Our Lives or Dr. Seuss) Empire State :confused: Eyes of The World, eh...I'm in agreement with most who went with Book of Love and Can't Go Back as Lindsey's best songs on this album.

For it's time it was a good little album to listen to....but I'd still take Rumours over anything anyday.
