Little Lies Video

I have to say, the first time I saw it...I laughed. I just think it's hilarious. The glamorous Fleetwood Mac...on a farm. Christine playing piano in a barn with a farmer Joe hat. Stevie ridding a horse in her classic black dress. Stevie and John hanging out in a barn like it doesn't smell like horse crap. Lindsey and Mick wearing eye make-up - so so wrong.

What are your thoughts on this. I know lots of you probably like this video and it was like your first exposure to Fleetwood Mac. Sorry...I hope I don't offend. I just find it funny, like most things in life.:D

Siri Ruane 01-03-2004 08:06 PM

Tis funny, but not as funny as Hold Me. :D

Lala 01-03-2004 08:20 PM

Ahh yes...Hold Me...the video that makes absolutely no sense. I'd almost forgotten. Mick and John digging up Gibson guitars in the desert. Christine walking her poka dot horse. Stevie painting a picture of herself.

The list goes on.

littlelies7 01-03-2004 10:25 PM

I love that video!!

Little Lies, to me, is actually their only decent video. I love it. :D

Lala, to continue your list:
Chris' room with the Magritte paintings.

When Lindsey throws the guitar and the glass (what the... ) shatters.

Little Lies Video

:wavey: We all like Little Lies and the kids here loved
it! Especially when Lindsey walks past the fence
and turns into each other Maccer! Pretty clever!

Christine is dressed in a lovely cowgirl skirt and
nice boots and jacket! Stevie looked good on the
horse...John was handsome in his sweater and
Mick looked well dressed! A nice outdoorsy video!

We noticed Lindsey first...he had on cowboy boots
and a nice jacket and very little makeup...his eyes
ARE BLUE and gorgeous!!!We Love Lindsey! ;)Sky

ps...Don't forget... Lindsey and Stevie dressed in
western clothes up in Phoenix with her Grandpa!
That's where they learned to sing country songs!

Carlene 01-03-2004 11:54 PM

I love the Little Lies video!

Lindsey is as sexy as all hell in that video! ;)

When that video first came out, I remember a time where I was upstairs when it came on and I ran so fast to get downstairs in front of the TV (to see the "sexy as all hell" Lindsey, of course), I fell down the stairs.

Lindsey should be honored. I wouldn't even consider falling down the stairs and busting my head open for anyone else!

But to comment on your observation, I honestly never considered the location, etc. to be odd. It is just one cool video, in my opinion.

Someone here on The Ledge (don't remember who, sorry) commented a while ago that this video really showcased the fact that Lindsey was leaving the band. If you look at his face, his movements, the fact that Stevie spends more time with Christine than with him; and that Christine is always to be seen with Mick and John, too... more or less gives you a picture of four people in the band, with one "outsider". It's a sad interpretation, but as much as I watch the video over and over again, I get the same impression.

I feel it's a nice video, but I much prefer "Gypsy" and "As Long As You Follow" :)

Song of the moment - Tear It Up

littlelies7 01-04-2004 01:31 AM

For some reason, the farm looks like it's in Ireland.

The really green grass, I suppose?

darklinensuit 01-04-2004 01:41 AM

I think the LL video is beautifully done. I love the profile shot of Stevie.

As for Hold Me, Stevie painting herself as a Magritte is pretty appropriate. After all, her songs are about herself, with a little fantasy & magic thrown in.

I like all of the Mac videos except for the BTM ones, though they do look bad in the Big Love video.

GardenStateGirlie 01-04-2004 01:45 AM

Lindsey, despite his inability to lip sync, looks dead sexy in the video and I do like the shots of Stevie and Chris. And Hold Me??? Stevie is absolutely gorgeous and Lindsey in his hat? Not to mention what I like to call Explorer John...lol...I love it! And Gypsy is one of my all time favorite videos. Again, very sexy. Do we see a running trend here in the hotness factor?

"tell me lies, tell me sweet little lies..."

I LOVE the Little Lies video! It's my fave because they all look GREAT in it and the colors are really beautiful.

Hold Me is a terrific video too because Lindsey in the hat, vest and those shoes....;)....and Miss Stevie and Miss Christine look stunning! Plus, that's the most facial reaction you get from John....EVER.

My fave part of Big Love is when they are on the beach....they all look so cool and rock star-ish.

Seven Wonders is great because Lindsey does that silly walk into the camera shot with the dorky white hat on, while Stevie lip synchs and watches him...SO funny!

AND she looks AMAZING.

Hard to believe they'd be fighting so horribly so soon after that video.:(

that was a really good shot of them. Would have made a nice poster.

I love the Little Lies video. It's my favorite video of theirs by far. I think it was beautifully shot, I believe somewhere in California. I think all 5 of them look great in this video. I also like the Hold Me, Gypsy & Love Shines videos. As Long As You Follow is also a very nice video, as is the Save Me video. I'm not really fond of the Seven Wonders, Everywhere & Big Love videos.

Hold Me makes perfect sense. They are in a desert and they are all seeing different mirages. After all, the song does come from an album called Mirage.

Love this video too
but that has also alot to do with the song itself allot
after this video i think will be gypsy and love shines

Little Lies is a great song and has a great video. I love how they did that. I think it's really beautiful and well done.

I find that Stevie is not very glamourized in this video. She kind of sits there down home style and seems fine with it. I like that.

I just think everyone looks really good, especially Lindsey. He does that head turn thing and looks at Stevie...

I have tons of footage from this time and after/before they shot the video -I have an interview of them in those clothes, and it's Stevie and Lindsey sitting side by side looking very comfy and happy--well happy for 1987 --but I can't imagine how much pain was there sometimes.

Seven Wonders they look even happier, but that was shot before LL right. And they seem so close in that.

I guess they just put on a strong front so the album would sell??

Stevire is pretty bad at this, too. Stand Back & I Can't Wait look like Godzilla is about to eat the sets.

The Chain 01-04-2004 03:42 PM

I really like Little Lies, beside my favorite, Hold Me...
Chris is pretty good at acting, dramatic, and distressed in this video, IMO:nod: I think the close ups on Lindsey are kinda corny, but that's just me.

I also really like the Save Me video... It's the only one from that era that I do like... It was filmed at the wonderful Red Rocks:D

Are you sure you're not thinking of Skies the Limit? (I'm not positive myself, seeing that I can't stand either video.)

Whoops. You're right, it is Sky Is The Limit...I really like the directing that went into this video, the shots and stuff. I think Chris looks wonderful though:D

Godzilla take over treadmill....*RAAAWWRRR!!!*

Honestly, I much prefer the Stand Back Civil War version. But then again, like Stevie, I'm a big Gone With The Wind fan so I just totally loved that concept.

Janet 01-05-2004 04:32 AM

I'm sorry but I think the Civil War Stand Back version is horrible! :(
I think the acting is super cheesy even though it IS creative. It's as bad as the Edge of 17 video with the cheesy acting LOL.

I think Stevie is so beautiful in the Stand Back we all know and love.

As a GWTW fan, I'd prefer Vivien Leigh in the Civil War theme anyday:)

Sorry!

I love that part too. Gypsy is probably my favorite of the videos I've seen, and I expect that it will stay that way.

If I'm alone...sometimes I'll do the arm thing with Stevie.

Hehe. Number one geek right here!:D

Miranda 01-06-2004 03:20 AM

Little Lies is super cheesey, but Hold Me is the bomb! Lindsey's a tasty bit o honey. Stevie is hot and sexy, and for once, so is Chris!

If you don't understand Hold Me or Little Lies videos, isn't obvious that they are visual interpretations or extensions of famous paintings? I can't think of the name of the paintings or the artists (but someone here surely does?). I thought that was what made both of them so cool. As a matter of fact in LL you can almost see it being painted the way they sort of visually watercolor in the very Impressionistic scenes of the video.
As for Stevie and lyp-synching-anyone seen Stop Draggin My heart Around video? The old Godzilla movies were better audio/video synched than that video!

yeah, and isn't that the video where Lindsey threw his guitar into the mirror and it just bounced off?

Talk about your hilarious bloopers!

I was just thinking that as i was reading these posts....especially during the "yeah, you buckle with the weight of the world" -
it looks like Stevie's saying "yeah you wuckle with the bait of the curl"

According to some research I did, if you look at the paintings in Chris' room near the end of the Hold Me video, they're paintings by a French artist named Magritte. If you look him up and see a gallery of his paintings, you might recognize a few.

As for Little Lies, love the watercolor effects! I think it's a homage to Henri Rossueau, the same artist whose painting was "remade" for the album cover. Since, Rossueau is an Impressionist, if my art history knowledge serves me right, that might explain the effects on the video. My theory on LL here is just a guess.

Hope this helps!

God bless! :wavey:

ricohv 01-10-2004 12:18 AM

Ah, thank you LittleLies7 for providing the art history literacy I was lacking when I described the paintings. Hold Me is definately based on the painting-if I remember right it had shards of mirrors sticking up from the sand w/ reflections of things like horses w/ green polka dots, etc. and it tied in perfectly w/ the album title Mirage. LL doesn't look so much like a Rossueau to me as it does a Monet (which wasn't watercolor but definately impressionistic, just as the video seems to me.) The clothing they wear in LL video and it's style also seems similar to clothes from the Impressionistic Era (sans the big-hair perm Stevie's sportin' in that video!)

You're more than welcome, ricohv! :wavey:

BTW, that's a good point about Monet.
